So solid 4th line = fighting? You're mixing concepts in a major way. We have a very solid 4th line. Eaves Abds Helm. Probably one of the best 4th lines in the league. Twice as good as Pittsburgh's 4th line.

    Red Wings Archived Games Index

The following are archives for Wings games that will open in a new flash player window. These are not hosted by me, but the NHL and streamed on demand by their servers. I figure I'd share these while it's still possible, so sometime in the future be it in weeks, months or seasons they will cease to work....so watch them while you can. I will be updating this post as the season goes on; new games tend to be up anywhere from 30 minutes to 24 hours after they've been played before they become archives. I will also be adding posts in this thread of past playoffs and seasons, so eventually nearly every Wings game through the 07/08 season will be posted. Again I don't know how long this will last. Due to this being a long list I'm generating in excel there could be some errors, or the rare chance there is no archive of the game. Just ask me to look at a certain game should you find one not working and I'll look into it. I'm not sure of the best way to lay this out, so I'm just doing a simple list. If you have any suggestions, please share. Red Wings Archives of the 2010 Playoffs No longer updating this list, moved to my site....see my profile. I am totally with you, Holland and the Wings are desperate for 4th liner players; they don't have enough and need to sign about 30 more. Babcock could have a killer 4th line of Asham-Helm-Abdelkader-Draper-Miller-Ritola-Eaves! Holland screwed up, he could have the biggest and baddest 4th line in the league. Problem is though, would the refs let the Wings ice 9 players on the same line? That could be tricky, but I'm sure it can be done. Or maybe Wings should, instead of icing 2nd line talent on the 3rd line, waive Hudler, Cleary and Modano so Babcock can ice two 4th lines. GMRwings projected linup: Zetter-Dats-Holmer Bert-Filppula-Frazen Helm-Abdelkader-Miller Eaves-Draper-Asham In favor of: Zetter-Dats-Holmer Bert-Fil-Franzen Hudler-Modano-Cleary Eaves-Abdelkader-Helm Brilliant!

I get what youre saying but I will be the first one to say...yes he can kill some penalties and block some shots. But there are soooo many times that I would watch Lilja, and E for that matter, and just laugh/scream/shake my head. I DO NOT GET THE LILJA LOVE. Ive heard from other players that hes a great guy....he probably is. But as far as out on the ice, Im a Lebda supporter before Lilja. it doesnt matter anymore since they're both gone. lets not be so quick to throw him under the bus --- I threw him under almost 2+ years ago long before the concussion. i just didnt see what was so big about him.

    The Hockey News Top50 List

My thoughts *Toews shouldn't even be in the top 30 yet, let alone top 10. Right now he's a solid two way 65 point guy. In a few years, he will most probably be one of the most complete players in the game, but he isn't as of now. *Datsyuk. As much as I hate to admit it, based on last season's performance there is no way you can consider him the 4th best skater last year. He has the ability to for certain, and this year may rightfully reclaim that rank, but last year there was a stretch for 10-15 games where he just looked so disinterested. I'd think he shouldve been in the 8-12 spot based on last year, though I can understand why they would put him at 4. *I question Mike Green, Kesler and Burrows even being ranked as high as they are. They are all great players, but in my opinion products of their system *Doughty, and to a lesser extent Lidstrom and Pronger all should have been ranked higher. Doughty should have been in the top 6-7 at least, with Lidstrom and Pronger around 10-15 respectfully *Kopitar should not be in any way ranked ahead of Zetterberg *Getzlaf being lower then either of the Richards and Hossa is a joke (and I'm a BIG Mike Richards fan) Notable exceptions imo: Zbynek Michalek (most underated defensemen in the league), Tobias Enstrom (if ******* Dan Boyle makes it in the 30s at this point in his career, he should at least be up there), and Erik Johnson who was better then Tyler Mylers the past season from what I saw.

I think it's more a case of us having enough (too many even) 4th liners already. We DO prioritize skill over everything else, but we also usually keep a spot reserved for a tough guy. This year, all those spots were filled already. Nothing to get upset about. We have a solid 4th line, maybe one of the best in the league. Asham wouldn't have made us any better.

Never really considered this guy in the realm of possibility, especially after the Modo signing. Not losing sleep over it but wouldn't have minded him put into the 4th line with Abby/Helm and Eaves. Oh well.

That's a bad post. You need a complete team to win the Stanley Cup. We wouldn't have won any Stanley Cups if it wasn't for a solid 4th line play in the playoffs. Just because they're not stars doesn't mean they're no important to the overall success. Either you've lost all your knowledge about hockey or you just made a bad post. I thought you were smarter than that. How can you discredit a 4th line for their contributions? You think we could win all those Cups without the Grind Line? I don't. It makes the team more complete. Asham would have made us a tougher and grittier team to play against. And for those people who ***** about fighters not scoring, he could shut them up too, because he can score. And for cheap.

Agreed. Lebda may be younger, but that's the only advantage he has. About the only thing Lebda does better than Salei is suck. Also, he says Salei has a Stanley Cup ring, when did he win that? In 2003 with Anaheim? I'm pretty sure that's the only time he's sniffed the Finals.

I'll reply with a picture story that says it all. Engagement photo Wedding: Honeymoon: I'm what I like to call passionate. She is borderline obsessive.

Lilja started terribly but was comin along quite nicely and slowly was winning me over as a fan before getting injured but he'd never be a top 4. Salei is a better player if he is healthy anyway and for the price he signed at he basically stole the spot away from Lilja. You snooze, you lose!

    You pick Lebda over Lilja?
  23. 1 point
you mean an average defenseman, who was HORRIBLE on our team didnt get another offer......weird. LIlja--you were out for forever with a concusion. do u expect a raise just because you came back? --and I will forever be confused as to why there is so much love for "the pain train" he is absurdly overrated and that nickname is laughable...good luck in the KHL, if it's still standing come start of the season.

Again links were generated as a list in excel, so I haven't tested them all. Should you find one that doesn't work, let me know. Quality of games at the start of the season weren't very good, mostly just in October. Red Wings Archives of the 08/09 Season No longer updating this list, moved to my site....see my profile.

As I stated in the first post I was going to put up past seasons as well. So here is the post season from last spring. Unfortunately I'll be putting up the last game, otherwise it wouldn't be complete...but you don't have to watch it Again I haven't tested them all, so if there's a game not working let me know and I'll fix it. I'll try to get last season up soon as well. Red Wings Archives of the 2000 Playoffs No longer updating this list, moved to my site....see my profile.
