The refs are trying hard to appease Bettman. Should have been the pens getting a penalty there

    Mike Commodore

I feel bad for Commodore. He's never really had a chance due to his preseason injury coupled with never playing more than the odd game so far. Unless there's an injury on defence it doesn't seem like he's gonna play. What's the plan then? Waive him? Minors? Conditioning stint? Personally, I'd like to throw the idea out of rotating him in as a 4th line forward every now and then. Get him to use his size, bang some bodies and crash the net. It might not be ideal, but it'll at least help get him into game shape so he's able to play some games on D if needed. Rotating him with Miller/Emmerton/Connor until Mursak returns would be a possible solution. Just think it's a shame seeing him as a healthy scratch every game without getting a proper chance. I think if he was waived someone would claim him. Detroit wasn't the only offer he had in the offseason. Just seems a waste.

Reason for not practicing for two days straight?

They will go from game against winnipeg to just a morning skate and then straight to game against pittsburgh, are they so pleased with the play so they let them get extra r(u)st? Sounds like a bad plan to me...

Pens defense is making us look silly right now. Reminding me of the 2009 Finals. Wings are gonna have to dig deep and actually dump pucks in and win board battles. We're not playing the Jets tonight. That fancy s*** isn't going to work every shift.

    12/13 GDT : Red Wings 4 at Penguins 1

Well, hope Fleury is enjoying his shutout. Oops, didn't mean to jinx him or anything.

I just hope that NHL center ice is having the FSD feed, if not I will be watching the game on mute.

    Crosby has "concussion symptoms"

You must not have ever watched Yzerman, Gretzky, Messier, Lindros, Fedorov, Chelios, Roenick, Zetterberg etc... play. The best players complain the most because when they are out-skilling people and they cheat by holding, slashing, etc it bothers them.

    Crosby has "concussion symptoms"

To be fair, though, it is the league's own fault for putting all their eggs in one basket.

Yeah right, because Kindl’s really sucking right now with his 7 points and +5 rating.

The last two goalies the Wings had play in the ASG, were Ozzie in 2008 and Hasek in 2002. Both of those seasons we had enforcers. Also, those were our last two Cup runs. You were trolling, but your post was actually right.

I know you are all going to hate me for this, but I really don't give a rat's ass. If it were most any other player, I might care.

The day after voting started I voted for my boy jimmy the allotted 30 votes....I know he could use the rest but the fact he wasn't thought of is f***ed up to me...

Pretty sad isn't it? As if so many players perenially get injured in the ASG. How are our superstars any more precious than other teams, who routinely send their best players if they're healthy? I agree the game has many flaws, but it's still special to these players and to the fans who want to see the event or attend it.

For people saying, he's better resting, you're really crazy. It's the all star game, it's nothing that drains energy. It's probably quite nice for them having tons of fans go wild over all of them and get to take place in some neat events, especially for guys like Howard where it would be his first time. He'd probably love it and I don't think one period of play will really be too draining, now would it?. For Lidstrom, I can get if he'd wanna relax, since he's done it so many times, the specialness of it has most likely worn off some, but it'd be great for Howie, especially as a write in, do you know how great that would feel if he knew his fans backed him that strongly?

Why is he better off not playing? It would be a special thing for him and for the Wings to have him in the ASG. He's not the only goalie in the league who plays a lot that would potentially play in the ASG. Let him play. It'll be fun. It's a chance to be in the same building as the best players in the league. Also, there's plenty of players who'll never get that chance and would give anything to play in the ASG. Can't take that for granted.

I'll probably get 'negged for this, but I feel bad for the guy. Doesn't get recognized by the NHL as an all-star caliber goalie and then he has his own fanbase deciding that he needs to rest rather than be an all-star. While I agree that he could use the rest, I think he's still young enough to be given an opportunity to enjoy himself at an all-star event and not effect his game in a negative way. Based on that link above, he seems pretty excited at the opportunity and his friends (I will go ahead and assume family too) sound just as excited as he is. Yet here we are, from the couches in our living room, deciding that he needs to rest rather than having an opportunity at a fun weekend . I voted for him.

    Ferraro is the next Helm

I might have to agree with Mr. -49, I dont think Helm will ever win a Selke.
