I hope this hasn't been posted yet, but this is one of the best super bowl commercials ever. Even if it's Canada-only.

A question about Red Wings history.

Hello, Can anyone please tell me who was the right winger who once played at a goalie position, due to goalkeepers injury. I can't find information about such a fact anywhere, but I'm pretty sure there was such a situation in Red Wings history. Excouse me if I made any spelling mistakes, English is not my native language, Looking forward to Your reply! Thanks from a Polish Red Wings fan!

Well, good luck, Conks. Show us what you've got. Better this happens now than in April.

How open would you be to trading Hank?

Let's get one thing straight, Henrik Zetterberg is not and should not even be compared to Steve Yzerman. At very best, Zetterberg is a poor man's Yzerman. Also, Zata is a good player but at this point I've come to realize that I shouldn't expect elite level production offensively and at his age and history, I should. There is definetly something wrong with him this season, but I think it may be more than that. I don't think this guy is as good as we make him out to be. I've seen him at the top of his game and it was a long time ago. Dude is invisible out there, a lot. He looks like a 2nd line player out there right now, at best. His favorite move, does it like 3 times a game, is to get the puck at the blueline and skate behind the net while fending off a defender to the other blueline and end up doing nothing with the puck. One person compared him to Bertuzzi yesterday and I thought that was appropriate, obviously more skilled at this point but I wouldn't be surprised if at Bertizzi's age his offensive production was the same. Not good for that contract. I think over the last four years we've watched Datsyuk's game get much better and Hank's deteriorate and I'm interested to see how the Wings handle it. I also don't get the super leadership vibe from him like Yzerman. He doesn't seem as humble and mentally focused as Steve did. Don't get me wrong, the guy isn't lazy and he definetly is a competitor. I'm wondering at this point though, what kind of offensive player will he be? We have tons of defensive minded players and can spare more than one but its elite level offense that we need. Especially when Lidstrom goes, because I think more offense is created through him than most people know. With his contract, Zetterberg needs to be a point per game or better for the next 6-7 years, and I highly doubt that will be the case. I'm not saying to do it and with all he's given the Wings we should be patient but I think other teams believe he's worth more than he actually is and I imagine a trade involving him could produce Lidstroms replacement, which is more important to the Wings than Zetterberg. This is highly unlikely, because its interdivisional, but if Zetterberg could land you Weber or Suter, would you do it? I would, in a minute. Nashville needs offense with a good contract and Detroit should be desperate for one of those two players. It's Hossa for Heatly esque, a win win.

Not very open at all. Henrik Zetterberg has too much talent, too much heart, too much class, too much work ethic, and too much character to let go of. He is the epitome of what detroit Red WIng Hockey is all about. Production is down this season. I may be a different answer if we were starting fresh and picking teams without him ever being a Wing before. But he has been an ideal fit for this organization, I'm proud to root for Hank, and I'm sticking with him.

    Rick Nash?

Its funny, but I would accept most of the trade proposals posted here if it meant getting Nash on a line wih datsyuk

Time to acquire Nabokov. Ya, this may be a minor inury, but if something happens in April, we wont win with Conklin/MacDonald.

We got the best effen team on the ice, the envy of the league of a organization off the ice, and some aren't happy! Trading away Z would be ridiculous! You want to be unhappy? Be my buddy who is a season ticket holder for the Ducks!

Who Could be Dealt at the Deadline?

This team is good. I am not excited about screwing it all up. Trading away dependable, inexpensive 4th liners for a locker room cancer like Jeff Carter; no thanks. No team is going to do Detroit any favors as usual, why would they? I think if a good plugger, thats got a tough side, gets dealt late in the day at the deadline, I think it's a positive thing. I know the majority on here want to make a huge splash with a big name, but those names that are available don't win playoff series. Your third and fourth liners grit is typically the determining factor in playoff wins! We all should be happy, we don't need much.

I would only trade Zetterberg if the following trade was offered: 29 1st Round Draft Picks. Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Zach Parise, Suter, Weber, Iginla, the Sedins and Zdeno Chara.

Fabulously put, friend. Hank epitomizes what this organization is all about. Talent has declined ever so slowly but not too many better working both sides of the ice and basically has limited himself to the playmaking role more so. No way will I ever be for trading the more than probable 3rd Captain this team has had in 25+ years. No thanks.

    Rick Nash?

You have to keep in mind that Kovalchuk was to be an UFA and had told Atlanta that he would not re-sign there. His trade value dropped significantly at that point. They took the best offer they could get, which minus the picks, was The Devils making room for Ilya's contract, by cutting contract dollars from their roster. The players going back to Atlanta were more for financial terms than for playing ability. Regarding Suters asking price, Darren Dreger was on NHL Tonight last night, and had stated that the asking price for Suter, if The Preds were to offer him for trade, would be, A roster player, A top prospect, A second tier prospect, And a first round pick. I'm pretty sure that that statement was was from Poile, but I'm not 100% sure. It could very well have been Dreger's speculation, but I thought it was paraphrased from Poile. Something think about for all of you empire builders.

Which brings up a good point: We're #1 in the league while our star player is in a slump season.

    Rick Nash?

I fear that if Columbus offered us Nash for Filppula straight up (which of course they wouldn't), many posters here on LGW wouldn't take it. Same with Iginla or Perry. Flip is having a great year, but you can't get a franchise player without trading a good player in return. Filppula or Franzen are the only ones who fit that definition. If you want a lot, you have to give up something good in return.

    Rick Nash?

As long as we don't move Smith or Jurco I'm all for it, unfortunately I think it would take one or the other plus others. As much as I'd hate losing Flip I'd definitely trade him for a few years (extension maybe?) of Nash.

Also, it's obvious that Kris Draper's absence has a bigger effect on Zetterberg's scoring touch than we initially anticipated.

    Time for my Cleary update.

The OP doesn't understand roles in hockey apparently.... he's been told by Babs to play a grinding 3rd line role, he's out there to finish checks and wear down defense, he's not trying to score goals but will certainly accept them as they come. First priority is to play your role, and right now Cleary's role is not to be a scoring forward. So stop hating on him.

    McCollum Watch

Despite his troubles, thus far, I still do really like McCollum. But does anyone else wish Daniel Larsson was still around?

So teams who basically just lose 15-0 playing lazy and sucking deserve the same amount of points than teams who battle hard and get to the OT. Baseball, as a game is entirely different, than hockey. I mean the whole scoring thing and how the game works. Soccer is much more like hockey, and in soccer you get more points for tie than loss. But they're Europeans, so they probably don't know anything though...
