    reunite the HZD line?

I would be against reuniting that line, I think Homer's career is simply over. Hes been a great wing, but this year was just one too many. I would rather see one of the younger guys given more top line minutes than Holmstrom who isnt going to get better.

Box score nugget of the night

That's how every game should start. From now on, fans won't ever be late to games.

    reunite the HZD line?

Homer is the most useless player in the NHL. If you're going to reunite Dats and Z, put Nyquist on the line. Don't anchor it down with a guy that can't keep up and that can't even deflect the puck in front of the net anymore. Homer needs to hang em up and i hope he spends all of the playoffs in the press box. if not Nyquist, then put bert or Abdelkader on the line. One last time so it sinks in, Homer sucks. the Wings can have a press box line of Homer, Cleary and Franzenfloat

Emmerton's been here all season. He was a often healthy scratch earlier in the season, but has taken on a regular role with all the injuries. I think a big part of the Wings' problem is complacency. The team rarely seems to play with any sense of urgency, and when they do, it's too little, too late. Underperforming players are almost never scratched or benched unless they're fourth liners or sixth defensemen. Franzen being demoted to the third line was, honestly, surprising. When's the last time a regular player was traded away or not re-signed in free agency? (Hossa was a cap issue, and I don't count Kopecky, he missed almost every playoff game.) They know they'll be back next year, whether they meet expectations or not. There is no fear of losing their jobs. I heard an interesting quote on the radio around the trade deadline... basically it said the Wings overvalue their players and prospects, and undervalue players and prospects from other teams. Kind of goes along with Wisniewski's quote from last summer that the Wings "don't pay market value". Also explains why Holland didn't really improve the team last summer (despite the fact that he said the team "has to get better") or at the deadline this year. Money is no excuse, he had PLENTY of room under the salary cap. If there's an early exit from the playoffs this year, there NEEDS to be change. Whether it's trading away a few regular players, firing Babcock (maybe the players are tuning him out?), or even Holland, something would need to be done. But the loyalty begins at the very top, so as long as Mr. Ilitch is still in charge, I don't see much change on the horizon.

Juck ******* Pott? I think I am gonna use that one the next time I win something good! "Is that triple 7's? I just hit the Juck ******* Pott!" I just may have to make a trip the the Urban Dictionary and add this one! Juck ******* Pott - The winning of the mother load. To win something beyond explanation. To win a major award. "It's a major award! I hit the Juck ******* Pott! Let's celebrate Ma!"

Wow at some of you fans already calling a 1st round exit for this team. I know the Wings have been trash as of late but you should never give up on a team that was at the top of the standings with everyone in the lineup.

"Bigger, tougher" is the go-to solution, yet that's not the problem this team has. It's no hustle, no heart, no scoring depth. Having a team full of 9 goal scorers may keep you up among the top in team scoring, but it doesn't win you a lot of games. More than anything else they need fresh blood (more than just one mid-range player) to change the forward corps dynamic. Bigger and tougher wouldn't hurt, but that's not what's stopping them from playing good consistently.

???? Mickey is the only source of optimism to be had in an otherwise horrible situation. He always says that theres light at the end of the tunnel, too bad its an oncoming freight train

This team, with it's play for the last month, is an embarrassment to the winged wheel. Injuries and other excuses aside, there are guys out there that are supposed to be playing hockey. Supposed to be showing some sort of will to win. Supposed to care about what they are doing. I see none of those things and I find it unacceptable.

Agreed 100%. Since we don't fight much, thank goodness for Datsyuk because he is probably the most entertaining player in hockey.

I like this. We need some Red Wings haikus to make it through this game. Hudler moves like his skates are stuck in wet cement Go back to Russia Cory Emmerton Worst player in the whole league? Maybe. Probably. Why is Cleary here? A bad knee? More like bad brain. Waive this clown right now. Kenny Holland sits "We like our team" he says. Sigh. Get ready to golf.

    reunite the HZD line?

The Z, Flip, Hudler line has been the best, BY FAR, for the last couple of months, why they tear apart that chemistry on power plays is beyond me. And if they do want to do that, Flip, Z and Dats would be infinitely better than Z, dats and Homer.

I wonder if giving penalties to us has become a strategy for teams when they are under pressure considering they more often than not result in short handed goals (or in the case a drawn penalty).

Nyquist is so slick. No reason he shouldn't be a regular from here forward. Hopefully they can get another relatively quick and keep pushing.

He's not at all. If there are still people doubting that after watching this defense lately, they will never admit E is valuable. Quincey has been a huge disappointment too.
