Franzen managing to say the absolute wrong thing for how he's viewed here. Winning is fun. Scoring goals is fun. Try working harder every day, every game, every shift, and you'll probably win more games and score more goals and have more fun.

    Thanks, Matt!

Wow, I didn't expect to stop in and see this -- thanks guys! But honestly, you all should be patting yourselves on the shoulders: It's the people that make up the community that have made this place work over the last 15 years. The moderators here, while not always universally liked deserve the REAL round of applause as they've been fantastic in helping to keep the site humming along as efficiently as possible. Thank you, mods! You guys do a great job and the site wouldn't exist without them. Thank you, fans! Without you guys here this community just wouldn't work the way it has!

Here's a good way to look at Franzen's production (his only defensible position left) in comparison to a Wings' fan favorite: Robert Lang had 62 point in 72 games for the Wings. (a better season than any of Franzen's past... ever) Robert Lang was LAZY and he SUCKED. Robert Lang wasn't on the top line, getting all his minutes with a player the caliber of Datsyuk (ahem...) Robert Lang was LAZY and he SUCKED. Robert Lang wasn't granted an 11-year contract. (that's good...) Robert Lang didn't complain to the media every time he spoke to them about things being boring. (what self-respecting player would?) ...Johan Franzen is LAZY and he SUCKS

I hope Franzen is traded this summer. Make room for one of our prospects that actually wants to play for as said, the greatest franchise in sports, or free up a spot to sign Prust to play on the 3rd line.

While the team as a whole definitely needs a shake up, I do find it pretty strange that 1) the few occasions Franzen talks to the media, its always negative, and 2) the only time lack of motivation or complaints about things being 'boring' or 'needing more fun', its always Franzen. It was funny to some a few seasons ago when he followed up a s***ty season with a good playoff and quipped about the regular season being too 'boring' for the golden god of playoffs. Now its become a trend of excuse making and whining about his own attitude and its reflected on the ice. Its not hard to see this guy has a terrible attitude, a (im)potent cocktail of apathy, laziness, entitlement, and self-pity. He'd look great in Maple-Leaf-Blue.

Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

Leading the team with 29 goals, averaging around 27 or so, playing on a line with an elite among elite centers, providing zero outside of scoring, while his scoring plateaus, and having an awful attitude that surfaces every time he talks to the media. First it was "wait until playoffs", now its "the regular season was good enough, I guess". But don't let the trend dampen the next 8 years of his contract... EDIT: Had to bolden the most important parts that some people aren't quite getting. Think there is a problem with effort and attitude in the locker room these days? Hmmm... can't think of why.

He got an 11-year contract with the greatest franchise in modern hockey after a single great playoff effort and hopefully unlocked potential, and the latter will define his career. Endless string of excuses as to why said potential is not being reached year-after-year, without mentioning the one obvious reason: zero effort and complete financial security. "Franchise" someone based 75% on potential and he'll start to think his potential is enough to win

    NEED: Winter Classic tix

We have a thread going in General Discussion called Operation Dumbo Drop for easy searching. There are several of us who are going to keep everyone updated as soon as information is released and will score as many tickets as possible as the occasion arises. And it's never too early.

I love your re-invention of his quotes. Right on. Yeah, it should be fun and games, but when somebody's being paid as much money as he is for playing, I think he owes the team much less mouth and a helluva lot more action. As in, put up or shut up! :deal:

More consistent through out the year would be a plus not just going 3 or 4 games scoring and not scoring again for another 10-15 games

And Minnesota has a good track record with prospects panning out? Is that why they make the playoffs EVERY year? If they have all these great prospects that are ready to go, why don't they get them in the lineup and make the playoffs? Nyquist/Smith are better now than any Wild prospect purely because they've already proven that they belong in the NHL and are good enough to play top 6/4 and produce. If I were Parise and Suter, I'd choose the team with the better track record and compete for the cup, not the playoffs.

So based on your experience with what, twenty, thirty people? Let's say one hundred people, you call all Boston fans trash. And now you're calling the whole city racist. makes sense. And I'm not messing with anybody. If you don't like the responses your posts get then you don't have to post in the thread. Thanks for calling me cute though.

    Nick, Homer retirement, New Captain

Yes, it probably does. With aging comes a decrease in your max heart rate and heart output, your lung capacity, muscle mass, flexibility, testosterone. Those are known issues. Your body just doesn't recover as well as it used to, whether it's recover time from a workout or from injury. Genetics and staying fit can certainly lessen the impact of aging, but can't erase them. The reality is that Lidstrom at 25 is going to recover much faster than an injury than he does at 41. And in general he is more prone to injury now that he's older.

Sorry but IMO Luongo is an Overrated Goalie. Granted he is good and has been stellar at times but he hasn't lived up to all the hype I've heard about him. Granted he's had a few injuries and that has held him back a bet but he's still a quality and high caliber goaltender and hopefully whereever he does go he can help that team.

    Thanks, Matt!

Best hockey site out there and not just because its a Wings board either. It's a great hockey forum that welcomes fans of other teams which generates lots of good hockey talk! I also come here for my hockey news because usually somebody posts something here before it shows up anywhere else. Keep up the great work!

He's now looking into the possibility of changing part of his name from "Peace" to "Piece"; as in, "I got a good piece of his head and now 'The Angel of Stern' is going to take a piece of my salary".
