You guys are awesome. I don't know many wings fan up here in toronto so it's awesome to go through this s*** show of a free agency with some cool wings fans. Having said that, it's pretty funny seeing how we're all freaking out and all our friends and families hate us because we haven't payed any attention to them. Cheers guys, however it plays out. It's been fun so far.

Listen, I understand this is a big decision, but come on, this is getting utterly ridiculous. Did these guys seriously not realize they were going to get offers from every fuchin team? Forget about all the other UFA millionaires out there waiting on these two descisions so they can sign with a club and make their family adjustments - what about the fans? I took today off just so I could sit in front of a computer all day and wait out a couple decisions (and I'm sure I'm not the only one) and what have a got? I'm cranky as s*** because I'm running on too little sleep and too much caffeine, my wife is upset because I've just been sitting around the house and now I need a new F5 key! Parise makes a statement that there's a statement coming...just not soon and probably not today? Suter is even worse! I know he's made a list, how could you not? He has had at least 6 weeks since his season ended - this is your career dips*** - you could have done your due dillegence and researched the teams/cities/schools or whatever questions you had well in advance of July 1. Lazy fuch! I hate that I care about this so much, but I can't help it. For the love of GOD, somebody do something!

So many people here keep talking about how the Wings *need* goal scoring and I just don't get why people are so hell bent on adding a Parise-type. Obviously, it would be phenomenal to add him to any roster, but its not as if the Wings struggled to put the puck in the net last year. They still ended up 4th in the NHL in scoring. And before anyone replies, the need for a bonafide goal-scorer is not lost on me. The bottom line, is the defense needs to be the focal point this offseason given our massive losses. Add Semin to go along with Suter and we're in good shape. Add Parise but not Suter....and we're f***ed.

I must have missed the thread where you announced that you were hired to replace Holland because of your extensive knowledge. I also missed the announcement stating that only ******-nozzles are entitled to be correct with their opinions. While I kind of agree with you on some points, you discount people on here asf****** morons because they disagree with you. You could just as easily be wrong with your opinions and assumptions, so I don't think there is any need carry on like that. edit: spelling and clarification. clarification is that you are ****** (pronounced doosh) nozzle.

Not at all. Remeber when the Wings signed Hossa? They weren't even really discussed as a possibility. Everyone here was hoping for Brian Roston and we ended up with Hossa. If there's one thing that I've learned over the years it's to never count the Wings out when they're open about the fact that they're going to be aggressive in the FA and trade market. Nobody really has a friggin clue where these guys are going to sign.

That's why at times like this you can pretty much only listen to McKenzie and Dreger. Everyone else tries to break the story because they dont' have to worry about being wrong most of the time.

No, we don't. If members don't deem a thread discussion-worthy it will move down the list due to those topics that are. There's no point in having one massive thread that's discussing 20 signings and is scattershot throughout where sifting through pages of posts to find what you want to comment on becomes painstaking. Events like this only happen this week and on deadline day. No mega-threads.

Why does everyone hate on my boy Franzen? Davidf****** Jones costs 4mil a year for 20 goals. And that's without being a playoff beast (yes I still believe Franzen's got it). Keep him!

I'm not upset Hudler left (it was expected and that's an expensive deal), but I don't really feel the need to celebrate about it either. While he had many faults that have been covered here already, he also had a knack for scoring goals. The Red Wings don't exactly have many players that fit that description on the roster. Obviously the addition of Samuelsson you hope will cover up some of that offensive production, but there's plenty of reason not to believe Sammy will accomplish anything close to 50 points with his recent history. Brunner is an unknown at the NHL level. I don't want Hudler for four million, though for a team that scored nine goals in five playoff games, I'm not exactly thrilled either to see offense departing. Another goal-scoring top-six forward is still a necessity.

Could be a good signing. Tootoo is one of the few people I really don't like much in the league largely because of past out of control incidents on the ice. That being said he's still one of the biggest pains in the rear to play against that you'd like to have on your side when he's playing under control. Can usually never go wrong with people willing to run through brick walls to hit somebody or make a play. Hopefully he gets consistent playing time with the salary he got and won't have any bad incidents.

I just heard, from a credible source, that a major 3-team deal is in the works. Apparently it's NY, Nashville, SJ.

Just a very solid back up goalie that won 8 games, had a GAA of 2.16 and .912 SV% I would of welcomed him back as a back up if his back wasn't such an issue.

I am shocked at how many people dont like this signing. Tootoo is definitely one of the most notorious agitators in the league, and has a reputation of going over the line, but when you consider all the toughness vs skill debates our forums have had when discussing the bottom six, well here is a guy who provides the best of both worlds. Take a step back and look at what Tootoo is capable of objectively. He is an all heart player who gives it his absolute all every shift. He creates chaos, he hits, he fights, and last year he scored 30 points in 77 games. Physicality aside, those are impressive numbers for a grinder. Since the 2008 season he has also been much more level-headed, amassing 40, 61, and 92 PIM respectively. He isn't going to be a liability for us the way that many other bottom line forwards are. This guy is everything that Detroit needs in the bottom six, and considering his blue-collar, give-it-your-all attitude, I expect it won't be long until he's a fan favorite here. Just no whistles please...
