Typical Holland faith contract. Generally the players who get them pan out quite nicely. Anyway, Kindl was easily the team's most improved player this season, and he has the rare gift of being able to consistently get shots on net through a crowd. Good contract.

2.4 cap hit, I bet he out plays that contract for sure. I like the deal

No to trading Ericsson and NoNoNoNoNo to Quincey on the top pairing.

Classy for sure but not enough to make me forget the Chicago Stronger shirts or chanting "Detroit Sucks" during every game and their cup parade. It's a shame that their fans don't live up to the standard of respect set by their organization. (Except Kane. He's the worst.)

    Letang Turns Down 8x$7m

I don't want him for that money but it's silly to say you wouldn't want him at all unless you think all of our dmen are better than him. Plus that boy would look goooood in a Wings sweater <3

Who would have thought years ago that we'd all be saying "NO" to trading Ericsson. That's partly from him improving as a defensive defenseman, and partly from Holland not adding much else to our blueline.

Kindl, E, Kronners, and DeKeyser are our only solid D. None of them are going anywhere

I agree with post who said it was unfair to penalize already existing long term contracts. Most contracts in the world are grandfathered and are not affected by new rules along the way. Don't know how NHLPA agreed to this rule ... blame Fehr for overlooking this.

Good. He's one of those quiet kids who does things without much notice. He's still got some ninja in him. The other team prepares to battle the more noteworthy ones, and -bam!- he sneaks in and gets the job done before fading to oblivion again. 4@2.4=good numbers.

good signing i think we will like this signing in the 2nd and beyond years ... so were basically getting rid of coliacovo to pay kindl , i cant imagine smith has done enough to merit that high of a cap hit?? maybe 2 yrs 3 million?

Now I'm curious what kind of money Brendan Smith is going to make. Hmm...

Yeah I sometimes forget how old Kindl is...

I would have been completely against this signing at the beginning of this season. But Kindl definitely matured into a defenseman worthy of competing for a roster spot. I'm thinking this will pave the way for Coliacovo to be bought out, if he can't be traded. That leaves next year's D to look like this (when/if Smith is re-signed)... Kronwall - Ericsson Smith - Quincey Kindl - DeKeyser Lashoff as the 7th Dman

+1 And, while he has done well and is a valuable part of the team here, he has not flourished. It is not like Federov's situation; he will go on to enjoy success and hopefully get a good payday. He may blossom a bit with a change of scenery. I appreciate all that you have done here and really enjoyed watching you play, but the time has come.

Nice move by the owners/managent/pr people. I guess they were surprised by how nice people can be in towns where they don't yell, "Detroit sucks" every chance they get. Maybe Hawks fans should take notes.

    Letang Turns Down 8x$7m

Bonehead move on Letang's part. The only way he is going to get anything more than that is from a bottom feeder that is willing to pry open their wallet. Secondly, how in the world could Shero even offer that much? He does realize that he needs more players on the team than a goalie, 2 centers and a defenseman, right?

One may wonder what the Wings plan to do with this guy. He's a big tough SOB that can play forward of defense. If he plays D, he could be our Scott Stevens type which would make my day, but if he played forward, dare I say he could be as close as we could get to our old fan favorite Bob Probert. Not saying he's the same as the 2 guys above, but it would be nice to think we have a guy in our system that could play one of those 2 roles, and hopefully do it well.

Here's what I'd love to see going into next year (Note - not the line combo's but the personnel) The salaries might be a little high or low in places, but I think its conceivable we could ice this line-up with cap space to spare, especially if we trade Tootoo, then Emmerton would be one of the utility forwards.
