Uhh...have you seen the regular season and playoffs? He the definition of a natural goal scorer. The puck always found him. He's one dimensional in that he basically has zero defensive game but his purpose on this team would be to shoot and score goals. I think the term "floater" gets thrown around too often in these forums. I'm not saying I think he's more valuable than Tatar or nyquist, it goes without saying that he is not, but how many successful shoot first players do we have? None. I agree he is worthless defensively, but what he can bring to the table for the Wings is pretty valuable. We have enough Clearys, we need more brunners.

IMO this is not a reflection on Holland, good or bad. Some of you want him skewered and you're using this as a talking point. It's simple: Nill ran Detroit's draft. Of course he had a closer relationship with our head scouts then Holland did. It makes total sense.

I think people are upset, because this could have been done way before. During the last seasons most fans complained about the lack of a pure goalscorer, well here is 27 year old pure goalscorer playing his first season in the NHL and even a shortened one. For sure there is room to growth and he will make mistakes, because basically he is just an older rookie so no surprises here. Is he worth 3,5 m ? Probably not, will he be worth it soon? maybe if the Wings are offering 2,5 I wouldn't sign for that either if I were hi. Give him 3 x 3 or 7 over 2 years if he pans out, fine if not move on. At the end of the day, the Wings are paying Sammy exactly that and Brunner IS better, worth more than Sammy at this point in his career, also a 40 old Alfredsson at 5 million? I understand why Brunners camp is pushing for a better deal. Time to face reality here, the Wings aren't the powerhouse they once were so paying heavily under market value will not get the job done. Tatar, Nyquist, Brunner would really be a good round up for a top 9 bottom 3 type of style.

Signing Weiss is great, especially for less money than Fil. Signing Alfie is spectacular, don't know how anyone can be disapppointed by that. A guy desperate to win a cup who can still play, who will inspire everyone on the team. If we lose Brunner and re-sign Cleary I'll be less impressed, but if we re-sign Brunner and let Cleary go it'll be a perfect off-season.

I'm on the fence as of now. Don't really like the Alfie signing. Weiss signing I'm ok with. Brunner looks like he is gone. I'm pissed IF Cleary resigns with us I'm going to be more pissed off. Pretty interesting middle of summer so far....

3 years???? Cleary must have pix of Babs & Kenny blowin donkeys; or Pauley Shore. Yep, Stevie is still early in his development as a GM. Not ready for prime time yet. I believe he will get there but not for years.

Ericsson did have a good season, but he still shouldn't be a top pairing defenseman and Filppula shouldn't be a top line center. It's just the way it ends up sometimes when a team doesn't have the proper personnel to play those roles. Plenty of hair gel and tanning lotion. Also, get ready to pass a lot of pucks to Stamkos for one-timers. Should be more fun than passing it to Cleary and watching him fall down.

Brunner is a VERY poor man's Briere. I would have let him walk too. 2.5 mil per for whatever term he chose was a fair offer.

Prust has been a regular player the last few years in New York and Montreal. Regular season and playoffs. Why do Wings fans think every fighter automatically sits in the press box in the playoffs? Amazing how Holland has pussified this team and polluted fans' minds about toughness and grit.
