Assuming you want a drawing of what Samuelsson will be doing, here it is: (note: on the right is money, and on the left a cigar)

When I met him, no joke he got in line behind me to get a hot dog. It was great

Larionov. I neither play chess nor drink wine, but I'd like to do both with the professor.

Easy. I said straight up that Emmerton was replaceable. I tell you what I'M tired of. People talking s*** about a player that seems to be on his way out. Yes, Emdog wasn't great, but I was just trying to be positive about some part of his game. I wish him luck.

I blame someone else whose name starts with H. Guys like Sammy, Bertuzzi and Cleary are old, washed up crap, but I don't blame them for wanting to stick around and make a paycheck. They should have been shown the door, though.

Ah yes, but I would think it would be "medical" marijuana, you know, for his sore boob

Samuelsson isn't going anywhere because he can't be gotten rid of. That doesn't mean he's going to play. The fact that he was slotted into the Griffins/Marlies game was no doubt a sign of Babcock's displeasure... and he didn't even manage to get anything done against AHL opposition.

Did Uncle Gary take the video equipment out once the new owners took over the Glendale Coyotes?

Cleary on the top line? LOL. That bum shouldn't even be on the team. Nyquist or Tatar should be in that lineup. Not three old, washed up players.

I am not talking s***. I simply am stating the facts. I get what you are saying, but we need not defend players who are clearly not nhl caliber

I think Emmerton's value on the PK is being under appreciated here a bit. He deserves a bit of respect for that. That being said, he's a replaceable. But I'm confused: how would swapping Emmerton with Glendenning relieve the cap and roster squeeze?

Barring the promotion of Glendening or one of the other AHL centers, Emmerton will likely be back with the Wings at season's start. Waiving him was a calculated move to free up cap space ahead of tomorrow's deadline, as Emmerton is totally unremarkable and certainly clear. Nyquist and DeKeyser will be sent down soon, as they are both are waiver-exempt. The combination of Nyquist, Emmerton, and DeKeyser will free up the necessary cap space and roster space until certain players are put on IR; at that stage, DeKeyser will be brought back to the team, and perhaps Emmerton and Nyquist as well.

Are teams going to "bait" us into fighting?

Are teams going to "bait" us into fighting?

Again comes this notion that the Wings get regularly bullied. Again, it's untrue. The single instance I can think of is 2007's game six against Calgary, and this was a whopping two penalties; and the team has more of a physical presence now than it had back then. More, the game has moved further away from such behavior in the past six years. Finally, the idea that the East is more physical than the West is a myth. This is clearly indicated by both facts and common sense. The Wings regularly play against teams that forecheck hard and play physically, and win most of those contests. If it were so simple as you say, then the Wings would not have such a long streak of success in the regular season and the playoffs. More, I don't understand how this pertains to having an enforcer on the roster. It's a bit odd that you're bringing up the old "the Wings can't beat ___ in a seven-game series" refrain. As I suspect you recall, people on here used to say the same thing about the Flames, the Sharks, and the Ducks. In a three-year span, the Wings ended up beating all three of them in the playoffs. It's a tired line that simply isn't true. The primary reason the Red Wings lost to the Ducks in 2003 was Giguere, and the primary reason for the 2004 loss to the Flames was Kiprusoff. Dave Lewis's ineptitude was likewise damaging. Anyway, I don't see how this pertains to having an enforcer on the team. Again, wrong. First off, penalty minutes per game is not a good measure of physical play. The majority of penalties are for such transgressions as hooking, tripping, interference, high-sticking, and the like, with only a minority being due to boarding or charging. Second, boarding and charging calls rarely occur on the forecheck. Third, hits per game is a much better measure of physical play; and of the past four Stanley Cup champions, only one---the Kings---ranked high (#2) in hits per game in its winning season. The 2010 Blackhawks were #25; the 2011 Bruins were #21; and the 2013 Blackhawks were dead last. All three of these teams ranked below the Wings in hits per game.

already has 8 goals in 5 games, no way he keeps up that pace, but he is going to crush his numbers from last year, lets hope it translates to the AHL and NHL

I've me a ton of Red Wings on my autograph running days, but the two I haven't yet and I really want to are, Steve Yzerman and Sergei Federov. I would be a gushing fan boy if I could do that! Gordie Howe is an interesting guy, he has a lot of stories and he enjoys the fans immensely. Got a picture with him at the signing and since it was so expensive there wasn't really anybody there so I sat and chatted with him for almost an hour. It was awesome!

I know it's just sort of knee jerk for you to be condescending about everything, but I don't know how you wouldn't be excited about scoring three PP goals against last year's second best penalty killing team. Particularly given how bad our special teams have been for a couple years now.

Tim Thomas Signs With Florida Panthers

No, he beat you because you were his son, which makes you a little s***. Poor Tim Thomas. The guy gets a job- with Tomas Kopecky no less- and we spend the thread talking s***.

The Wings had plenty of teams trying to bait them into fighting in the West, particularly the Ducks. Sometimes someone answers the bell, but for the most part, our guys are pretty disciplined in that regard, and the younger players will probably get a stern talking to should they decide to get baited, from veteran players or coaching staff. In short: I'm sure we'll see some fights this year, but mostly from guys like Tootoo, or Abdelkader. I wouldn't be shocked to see Ericsson or Smith get into a fight either, but aside from that I wouldn't expect anyone else to drop the gloves. All in all I don't think it will be much different than previous years.

    Petr Mrazek or Jonas Gustvsson

You're right about Quick and Bernier; it had been the year before when he played more games, and even then it was only 25. As for Emery, he played 19 games to Crawford's 29; that's a substantial number. Whatever the case, it's better to have an affordable goaltending tandem than not.
