"Mike Babcock got our attention today when he rated Glendening one his top 10 most competitive players he's ever coached. I mean he's got Lidstrom, Datsyuk, Zetterberg...talking about guys like Crosby and Toews. Here's a kid who was a walk-on in college, undrafted in the NHL, 3rd/4th line minutes in the NHL and ranking right up there with those future hall of famers. Just the names he said...Yzerman, Lidstrom, Crosby, Toews and Bergeron........and Glendening....."

And the penalty he drew, the cross check he took to the head didn't slow him at all. No "omg, I got hit in the side of the head, ouch, look everybody, ouch, someone hit me with their stick! "

My absolute favorite part of that Nyquist goal was when Mickey says "Oh My.........Oh My God"

Did you guys hear Ken Daniels quoting Babcock on Glenny: "Other than Nick Lidstrom, Steve Yzerman, Zetterberg, Datsyuk, Crosby, Toews, and Bergeron, Luke Gendening is the most competitive player I've ever coached."

Glendening is shutting down and pissing off the likes of Crosby and Stamkos in his rookie season - and he wasn't even suppposed to be on the roster. That's huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge. Goals will come. He's certainly had his chances.

Then we miss the playoffs. Anderson was and could not be our #1 center.

It's weird. If this were pretty much any other season except this one, I'd want the Flyers or Rangers like whoa. But this season? They both scare me. (Not counting my chickens, just saying.)

I've always been proud to be a Wings fan. Classiest organization in all of sports, great leadership, passionate fan base, original six. Pride has always followed this organization....YZERMAN playing on one knee to lead his team and then him handing that cup to Konstintinov to show his dedication to such a brave man. The way that Zetterberg carried this team on his back to win 4 huge games to get into the playoffs last year. The medical staff, players and coaches who literally saved Jiri Fischers life on the bench after his collapse. There is a lot to be proud of a team so rich in history and yet, somehow i find myself in disbelief about that this current team has done. Three weeks ago this team was in 11th....certain to break the 22 year consecutive years to the post season. Things looked dismal and everyone was critical. Great teams have great players and usually a 1-2 punch. Perry and Getzlaf, Crosby and Malkin, Kane and Toews.....Zetterberg and Datsuyk. Only, we no longer have that 1-2 punch. We have the second most man games lost, but no team has had to endure losing such impact players. We have 6 guys that didn't start the year with this team but will not go down. They are relentless. I keep waiting for Nyquist to be a fluke.....and he has just gotten better. A kid who wasn't on the roster when the puck dropped on then season and he leads the league over the last month in goals? That's fairy tale stuff.....and it's happening right before our eyes, every time this team plays. How about Glendening? This kid wasn't even a thought at the start of the year...now he's up against the top lines of teams shutting it down. Tatar, the day he lost his dad, kissing up to the sky in admiration, playing with a heart as heavy as an anvil......I could go on and on about the pride I feel in this organization and they way that they have overcome adversity. I think we will make the playoffs...I know we WILL but even if we don't. Even if somehow the bounces don't go our way and we find ourselves out of the race April 13th, this team...this unbelievably dedicated, classy and big hearted team has made me prouder to be a wings fan......that's a lot to say in such a consistently successful organization. Good on ya boys......" Dont stop believin'" and we will be just fine!!!!! LGW!!! 23 all the way!

This is what makes Datsyuk so special amongst Russian forwards, his ability to play both ends of the ice is second to none. It will take a special kind of Russian in the NHL to be Captain and lead his team to a Stanley Cup. Dats is really the only one that could do it, we saw his level of play at the Olympics on one leg, best player on the Russian bench. Ovie is going to need to go through a transformation as you pointed out like Stevie Y did if he wants to get to the promised land.

LEafs fans deserve every bit of this. Sure there are a few good Leafs fans I feel sorry for. But their general fan base? This looks good on them.

Might also be a reason he's up in Nashville and forsberg is still in milwaukee I can't read swedish so I'll have to take your word for it ... If you're counting on Jarnkrok to shadow Crosby you're going to get destroyed, that's why he isn't even considered for Miller, or Glendening's roles. He could play in Andersson's spot that he's currently occupying, but at the time Calle was traded, Andersson was on the checking line which is the absolute worst place for Jarnkrok to play. Emmerton wasn't even in the NHL at the time of the trade, he was only called up because another center went down. Had Jarnkrok not threatened to go back to Sweden necessitating the trade he would have got his NHL shot with the Wings right then. I can think of three roster spots they could have tried him in for at least a few games: 1. Luke Glendending, has a total of ZERO goals in 49 games... on pace for longest goalest streak in Wings history 2. Andersson - with 17 pts in 63 games and a -11, he's not really tearing it up 3. Anywhere else, we've had enough injuries, our 4th line has been a revolving whorehouse of players, Miller, Bertuzzi, Emmerton...anyone can sit. again, just sayin, there were options to at least look under the hood in some NHL games, look at all the other kids that got called up this year and were sent back down...

There are gonna be so many people on these forums eating crow once Weiss is healthy. And I cannot wait.

I think you could trade him. I just don't think the return would be great, but who cares right?

Not sure if people know but Tyler Bertuzzi is back from his serious injury earlier this season and is now leading his team in the playoffs. 3 goals and 1 assist in 3 playoff games so far. I know quite a few (looking at you Richdg) who completely counted this kid out and wrote him off for nothing. Glad to see he's back and seeing success.
