I think its because he wants to see Anderson as much as possible in the preseason. The preseason isn't about the best teams its about getting the best looks at your players.

What's most annoying is that Franzen isn't even a good defensive player like he seems to think he is. I don't think anyone expects him to score 50 goals, but damn, can he at least LOOK like he's trying out there? Could he pop right back up when he goes down instead of taking a minute and half to get to his feet? Could he stand in front of the net and block the goalie? Could he throw his body around just a little? Ack, that interview just got under my skin.

No, but he probably won't allow five either. Mrazek has looked far superior in the pre-season and Monster was atrocious after the new year. I think it's pretty safe to say Mrazek is the better goalie, waiver options or not.

Whenever Monster's groin inevitably goes bad, we will finally have the better backup goalie on the team.

Note to Franzen: Did you feel your goal scoring was only a fluke and you were a defensive player only when you signed that long term deal? You like to win? Did you notice the Wings won in 2008 when you scored a lot of goals in the playoffs? Don't expect me to play better, just expect less from me. Grrrrr

Summer gave it a chance to cool off, but I have now come back to realization how much Franzen annoys me. "I like to play defense and win games." You can do those things and still score goals too. Your captain does.

In an interview during intermission tonight Babcock was asked about not having a contract. The highlights are: He's talked to Scotty, who replied that he was in the final year of his contract every year and he loved it. Babs is excited about the younger look of the team. It was painful for him to watch us last year because we were so slow. His youngest is out of school, so he's in a good position. The Wings have been very good to him and treated him very well. There is nowhere else he wants to be.
