I was at a bar and every Canadian said that goal wasn't a goal and shouldn't count, but it did. I highly doubt you will find another Canadian that disagrees with you. However saying US didn't play their best, well Canada didn't either then I guess? No you are not alone. I was wondering the same thing and most Canadians were happy that he wasn't on the ice. Eichel looked to be extremely selfish out there and seemed like he was just trying to be a hero instead of worrying about tying the game. -
1 pointhttp://thehockeywriters.com/qa-with-red-wings-prospect-teemu-pulkkinen/ Besides being one of the better offensive prospects the Wings have had in a long time, he has the prefect attitude to be a life long Wing.

1 pointSo… Canada is up 3-1 late in regulation. Larkin scores to bring his team within one. Canada scores an empty net goal off a couple DeAngelo screw-ups. Dagger in the heart. Horrribly deflating. Game is over. Larkin scores again to bring his team within one again. Canada scores another empty net goal off another terrible turnover made by another US defenseman. Horribly deflating. Game is over. Larkin, if I’m not mistaken, didn’t see the ice after his second goal. Granted, there were only 45 seconds left, but, I mean, c’mon. He’s singlehandedly given your team a fighting chance, twice, in the span of a few minutes. He was pumped as hell. Give him the chance to net a legendary hat trick. Am I alone in feeling this way?

In the end, the real story is Larkin. So glad he is a future Red Wing. He went all Eberle with the clutchness. -

I’ve only seen it mostly one way. Take that Lazar goal away and call a few more legit penalties and this game is completely different. -

I agree the goal was BS, but Canada has just outplayed the US in the third. They wanted it more. -

Why the hell is Weiss on the 4th line? Here we go again Babcock. He has like a point in every game is he played in and he gets demoted to the 4th line? If only one change Franzen on the 4th line and Helm should move to the wing and Weiss should at least be the #3 center... honestly though, I think that this is how it should go and be very effective: Zetterberg - Datsyuk- Nyquist Tatar - Sheahan - Jurco Franzen - Weiss - Helm Miller - Glendening - Abdelkader nothing against Abby, but Nyquist deserves top line minutes (not 3rd) and Weiss is a waste on the 4th. You could flip flop lines 2 and 3 and it would be ok, but no way Weiss should be on the 4th nor Nyquist on the 3rd. Maybe Babcock should go to Toronto... -

I can't believe this, Babcock needs to wake the f*** up. Helm should not be in the top 9 over Weiss, I'm sorry. Helm turns the puck over a lot trying to do too many things sometimes, he needs to simplify his game in order to play top 9 and not try to do everything 100mph. -

LOL, that second to last question is going to make everyone on this board feel really old. What players did he idolize growing up? Ovechkin and Stamkos... -
1 pointI also think that Nosek really has replaced the loss of Jarnkrok in our system. Nosek has 3 goals, 7 assists and a +4 in 14 games, just coming off a hand injury. He may not be quite as flashy as Jarnkrok, but he definitely has the size advantage, as well as a speed advantage in my opinion. I think Holland and co. may have found another diamond in the rough with Nosek. And it's nice to see Tvrdon finally cementing a spot in the Griffins lineup. He has a goal and 5 assists, and is a +5 in just 5 games so far this season. He has been flying out there, he is looking really good as well.

1 pointOf the multitude of Centers that we have, which one is the most likely to be traded? Which has the greatest return value? Which the least? Not counting Franzen, as he is typically not a center. Including Weiss, Helm, and Andersson -- as they are known as centers who happen to be playing wing. Not including Z or Dats -- as they're obviously the most valuable to the team; would garner the most return, but will never be traded. Sheahan: (Hopefully) not likely to be traded, highest trade value (Youth + Two-Way-Play + Future Potential. He's a keeper. Even if he ends up just being a 3C and not a 2C) Weiss: Not easily trade-able, and still questionable value -- too early to tell whether any other team values him, as his health remains a question mark. (I think he could be traded and get good return, but the fact he's not getting a lot of ice time in Detroit, despite his offensive capabilities is a head-scratcher. Is he getting protected minutes? Does Babcock not trust him? Does Weiss have a future with this team?) Helm: Most likely to be traded, not huge trade value, but he is a solid third line center with top-6 winger capabilities. (He's the C, I'd trade first.) Glendenning: Not likely to be traded, not a lot of trade value (wouldn't want him to be traded) Andersson: Most likely traded solely as an add on, not a lot of trade value (would rather he be traded than waived -- he's the current roster's Emdog)

I criticize Babs quite a bit for his lines and TOI management, but Abby has been just fine this season. 9 goals, 18 points in 30 games is excellent production. I think the larger concern is guys like Glendening, Miller, Helm and Franzen receiving better linemates and more chances than Weiss, Tatar and Jurco. Last night was the perfect example. The Wings get down a couple of goals, Helm goes into the top-six and then we barely saw Weiss or Jurco. Franzen has one goal in 15 games and is -13 this season. Weiss and Jurco have made just about any line they have played on better, yet they somehow always find themselves in the non-skilled fourth line role. -

Everybody knows that you can't put Tatar and Weiss on the ice much because only bad things happen when they're out there. Well, that and they score goals. But mostly bad things. Here's a fun game to play. Mike Babcock bitched during the game that the Bruins were playing effectively in front of the net and the Wings weren't. Now, for funsies, go look at where Stephen Weiss scored every single one of his goals so far this season. It'll be a hoot. -

KHL Struggling Financially
Holmstrom96 reacted to kipwinger for a post in a topic
Pretty sure the collapsing Russian economy resulting from Putin's disasterous foreign policy blunders has more to do with it than their penchant to overpay. Particularly considering the league was subsidized by the government (currently dealing with sanctions and declining foreign investment). Or it was bad contracts. Either way.
