This all day. Glendenning should be part of the Wings' future. His absence for five minutes of the playoffs turned the entire series around.

I hate on him, but he's the best option for coach Have I ever had a whipping boy? Typically I'm on here defending whipping boys from you

Given he's only 18 I have to think they're keeping him in Grand Rapids for the season regardless, barring a lot of injuries for the Wings and Larkin playing lights out.

Ovechkin frequently plays like a man possessed. It's true he doesn't backcheck, but he does forecheck, unlike Jagr, Bossy, Lafleur, Bure and other great scorers. Has their ever been a great goal scorer that forechecked like Ovechkin does and looked to initiate hits? That's the kind of thing that teammates like about him. He's always looking to score or hit someone on every shift. That motivates the rest of his team. There's other ways to lead besides being great defensively.

These crazy immigrants coming to the US popping out babies just to get citizenship. Sheesh. I'm kind of thinking that it has more to do with the fact her physician is likely here and they've mentioned many a few times they plan on residing here after his retirement. The citizenship rules are somewhat broad and pretty much anyone can play for any country with any kind of distant connection to a country.

McCollum is playing great. The team as a whole is playing much better than last night though.

If he was still playing disconnected controller defense all the time, I wouldn't want him anywhere near our young and impressionables.

I disagree. He won't make the team out of camp, but we might see him join the team later in the season, possibly as a winger. He's an exceptional skater; he plays a remarkably mature, rounded 200-foot game; he's got a good frame for an 18-year-old; and his vision, smarts, hockey IQ, playmaking ability are all commendable. While NCAA hockey isn't AHL hockey, killing it as a freshman like Larkin did is extremely impressive and bodes well for his adjustment to the pro game. This is a kid who just played for the USA in the IIHF World Championship as an 18-year-old, the only other 18-year-old on the roster being Jack Eichel. This is a kid without any true holes in his game or even areas of concern. He's not a project. He has to bulk up, has to get used to the grind of the pro schedule, has to make all the necessary adjustments that every player in his situation has to make - but I don't think the adjustment period will be a long one, maybe not even a full season. This is one of the ten best NHL prospects.

I don't get why you would think that Glendening would "follow Babs"... He's under contract with the Detroit Red Wings. He can't just decide to pack up his gear and move to Toronto, nor would he even if he could. There has been a lot of joking about trading Glendening to Toronto for Kessel or a 1st round pick or whatever because of how much Babcock loves him but he isn't going anywhere. I'm sure Holland and Blashill appreciate Glendening's game just as much as Babcock. He's here to stay and for good reason, he's a great 4th line shut down center.

Mitch Callahan. Blash loves the Mitch.

The displeasure comes from the fact that he could have kept his mouth shut. Or if he wants to be honest, why doesn't he "honestly" evaluate his performance as well as that of the other higher-ups? Like hey, we can't win a playoff series, our young stars underwhelmed in the playoffs, our defense can't score and our signings/trades turned out poorly. I like honesty, but Devellano needs to come out and criticize other things and not just Mantha.

Apparently you don't. Most people in this thread aren't mad and aren't arguing that Devellano's comments are inaccurate.

I really like the idea of trading Howard + for Thornton. Maybe Howard + jurco+ prospect for Thornton. Then go after phaneuf + Reimer for hopefully weiss + smith + kindl + helm. Franzen goes on LTIR This would give us tremendous center depth and allow hank to play with pavel. Abby- datsyuk- z Cole/ big body FA- joe t- pulk ( that shot with joe) Nyquist- sheahan- tatar Miller- glenny- Ferraro ( great 4th line/ shutdown) Kronwall- phaneuf Dd- Quincey E- marchenko/ oullete Mrazek Reimer I'm not sure how this is cap wise, but I think that team looks way better

Raise your hand if you actually think that a roster player or prospect will be traded this off-season. Or that Holland will be fired. Or that Howard will not start the majority of games next year. Or that the government had anything to do with 9/11. If you said yes to any one of those, you are a crazy person.

The most games Mrazek has started is 52 and that was back in the OHL. I'm guessing he splits the season with Jimmy and the "starter" will be the guy who ends up earning the spot over the course of the season.
