Kane case headed to grand jury

Any more messed up than thinking that a woman who reported a crime is a money hungry liar (as quite a few around here have not so subtly insinuated)? This woman has done NOTHING to have her character called into question. She reported an alleged crime, and obeyed the directives of the legal system thereafter. What should she have done differently in order to be taken seriously? Not talked to the media...oh wait, she didn't. Reported the crime immediately...oh wait, she did. Refuse to settle the case out of court...Yep, did that too. Apparently, if you're a woman (and you want to be taken seriously when reporting a sexual crime), you better have never been drunk or horny in your life because god knows you can't be raped if you made out with a guy in a bar earlier in the night. This is shameful. What if you reported a stolen car and everyone assumed you were lying in order to defraud the insurance company? Oh, that's right, it woudn't happen because nobody is insane enough to assume that kind of thing regularly occurs. Unless you're a woman, and you report a rape...then you're obviously weaving a nefarious web of deceit. The most obnoxious thing about this is that nobody actually believe the b.s. they're spewing. If your daughter, or sister, or girlfriend, or wife, or mother reported an alleged sexual assualt, nobody here would think "well she was hitting on that guy at the bar, so I've got to consider the possibility that maybe she just wants his money". Nobody. Would. Think. That.

    Model Tries to Blackmail Jagr

Hey, remember when you had to get pictures developed and you didn't know what they looked like until you got them back and your deadline for the trading card submission was in like 7 minutes? Those were wild times.

    Todd Ewen Dies

This is really sad, but that's how it is in sports where hits to the head are common. Every enforcer from his generation knew what risks they were taking. It's too early to tell why he committed suicide. Maybe his life was in a bad state. But if they study his brain, of course it will look different than an average person's brain. The average person didn't get punched in the head as often as he did. BTW, for those who may not know, Todd Ewen is the only guy who ever KO'd Bob Probert. He played for many teams and had tons of other fights and big wins, but that's what I'll always remember him for most. Here's the video.

Correlation certainly does not equal causation, nor does it imply responsibility for all cases of Parkinson's. Even considering causation as an option, stating that head trauma caused Parkinson's in specific cases does not imply that head trauma is the *only* cause or risk factor for Parkinson's. It is a neurodegenerative disorder that probably can be brought on by a number of causes and affected by numerous risk factors. One of which seems to be head trauma. Which, to me, seems perfectly plausible that neurological trauma could potentially lead to a neurodegenerative disease down the line. Science is awesome. *thumbs up*

Wasn't stamkos sent back to minor league (albeit not for unprofessionalism) in his rookie year? I mean, I kinda see where you're coming from, but at the same time one of the things that makes these guys top-end talent is their commitment to the game. Guys like Tavares and Crosby are elite not just because of their raw talent, but also because they made a habit of showing up every day on time and ready to work and improve their game. This kid seems a bit like Semin in that he has the tools to be a great player, but he may have character issues that prevent him from reaching his peak.

Are you saying that there could be more than one factor which causes a particular disease? That's just crazy. Everybody knows that degenerative diseases like cancer, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or CTE have one cause, and one cause only. Which is why they're so easy to prevent. Oh wait...

Imagine if you reported a physical assault, as in, a physical beating you received. Now imagine everyone assuming you're lying about it because earlier in the night you'd been seen drinking beer with the guy who later beat you. Seem crazy? That's because it is. NOTHING that happened at the bar earlier in the night precludes Patrick Kane from having committed a crime after they went back to his house. Nothing. Attempts to explain way the seriousness of the allegation based on something that was happening hours earlier are completely nuts. By that rationale a man couldn't rape his wife because she's probably agree to have sex with him at some point in the past.

Go back and look through what I said.Did I state my position, or post what facts have came through? I'll wait. I didn't say a damn thing for you to suggest that my bias' has filled in any blanks as to my position on the subject, and furthermore, you calling me out on an opinion(that I never took) after using your own bias is kind of insane. And I asked you a question, didn't question your motives, or your take on the case, so I'd appreciate you not assigning an opinion to me about something so sickening as if it were a trivial matter. I didn't state my opinion for the reason that this isn't something to take lightly, or speculate about especially given the fact that has come out.

Wow. A bartender mentioned that a woman he couldn't identify as the victim was hanging around Kane that night. Please don't change the story to support a bias.

I wish he played for us. We could add a few more years to his career. Would fit in well with our roster type. I've never been the biggest fan of signing old players, but he's played for every team besides the Wings so I'm feeling bad he's never played for us. BTW, I've never heard that nickname. Sounds like something the model would call him. Is there something you're not telling us?

Wonder how much he'd have paid out if it was an ugly chick. (Mental note to self: Meet Jagr, seduce him, wait for him to fall asleep, take selfie... whoa, wait. I have standards. I do not take selfies. Never mind.)

The research is, but it's basic common sense that getting punched in the head for a living isn't good for you. These guys had concussions. They had to have known they didn't feel OK. They must have thrown up many times after games. They couldn't have been oblivious to the dangers of their specialty. Unfortunately, in those days enforcers didn't want to tell coaches about concussions, because it would make them look weak and not invincible. I remember reading an interview with Ryan Vandenbussche where he stated something similar about being afraid to admit he played with concussions. The research and the recent player deaths/depression have shed more light on this issue and the long-term effects. However, I refuse to believe guys like Probert and Ewen didn't know that what they were doing was hazardous for their health. First off, Probert wasn't a jobber. He was a pretty good player. Secondly, read my post above. Are you trying to say these guys thought getting punched in the head every night would have no long-term effects? I doubt it. Maybe they didn't give a crap and were riding the lifestyle, but they had to have known.

Speak for yourself. If this was Pavel Datsyuk instead of Patrick Kane, I would be heartbroken if the Wings handled it this way and would tap out until it was made right. I can't control what other fans would do.
