I just think sending a guy -- a 26 year old, big bodied center, no less -- who's having a bad year off to play for a team (a freaking division rival) with a coach, who supposedly loves him and his style of play, whom under he had his best year for anything LESS than a first round pick is screaming SCREAMING!! to bite Holland in the ass. ...and for all of LGW to say, "told you so." ...but that's just pragmatic me.

Bishop to Kings: MacKenzie & TSN

Funny how you say garbage in goal then bring up Bishop. Bishop was garbage until his first full season in Tampa. Why would you give up on our young goalies so fast when it took Bishop 5 seasons of moving from AHL to NHL and back and three teams to finally get going and lock down a starting job? Plus, Bishop is a UFA. He's not good for anything but a rental to a playoff team right now.

Vegas has an early window http://www.thehockeynews.com/news/article/las-vegas-will-have-exclusive-48-hour-window-to-negotiate-with-unprotected-free-agents "The expansion draft rules won’t allow for teams to leave free agents unprotected in order to scare Las Vegas away. The league’s newest club will get a 48-hour window to work out a deal with any free agents — restricted or unrestricted — before the expansion draft."

Our best D right now IMO! @DetroitRedWings: UPDATE: The #RedWings today signed defenseman Nick Jensen on a two-year contract extension.

    Gustav Nyquist Hearing

I don't think they "need" to go, but either should be moved in the right deal. Although I agree with the Hudler and Filppula comparison, teams do still need those types of secondary scorers. I just think this team needs a different look, and if either can be packaged for a high end defenseman this summer, we need to do it.

TSN says Eric Cernak is going to be a top 4, puck-moving Dman. He's listed 6'3", 203 lbs and righthanded. He was a 2nd round pick in 2015 (43rd overall). Could be a good pick up by Stevie. This could be a really bad trade for the Kings. If Quick plays the majority of the season and into the playoffs and they have significant success, they could have payed a 2nd round pick and a top 4 D man for a slightly upgraded backup who only plays a few games. I guess if they go far, they won't care that much, though. There must be significant concerns about Quick's recovery.

Bishop to Kings: MacKenzie & TSN

Yeah Budaj was the reason the Kings have the playoffs in the picture still by the time Quick was ready. After moving around the league and starting the season in the AHL i thought he was long done, but he came back and was rock solid and the Kings MVP. Sucks he just got cast aside like that and traded to Tampa and out of the playoffs after that performance. He saved the Kings season and they ship him out at first opportunity. Pretty s***ty move, but it is a business I guess. The trade for Bishop is kind of just asking for conflict, but it was obv a hard trade to not make. Quick is the starter an has been for years. He may welcome Bishop, but he may also not like another star goalie in the dressing room ready to snag his job if given opportunity. Could end up like our own Hasek/Joseph debacle. We'll see I guess. Course not. But he needs to re-sign first.

I wrote about it in the other thread in more detail. Here is the rule: The expansion draft rules won’t allow for teams to leave free agents unprotected in order to scare Las Vegas away. The league’s newest club will get a 48-hour window to work out a deal with any free agents — restricted or unrestricted — before the expansion draft.

Yes that's right. Vegas can speak with 100% off UFA's and if they sign one prior to the expansion draft, that signing counts as their "pick" from the team the player came from.

Im starting to think both he and Tatar need to go. They're basically Hudler and Filppula. They're not ever going to be the next euro twins. And I dont like Gus's diving or the face spear. Brings shame to that logo on the front of his jersey. And I didn't like some of Tatar's belly aching early in his career or the reports of him staying up all night partying in the condo he was renting from Helm a while back. Not saying guys need to be perfect, but when your losing these things start to weigh on my mind. Probably just used to having high quality gentleman like Lidstrom and Datsyuk, but still, if they can be moved for a high quality Dman at this point Im for it. Blow this team up. Losing sucks and I hate it.

If he doesnt pan out, he'll always have that youtube career to fall back on

I'll admit to some speculation on my part there, but when he comes into the league and makes plays in his first year, then plays with grinders on the 4th line ever since, something happened... I highly doubt he was ever told " don't out stick handle opponents" (whatever that means...), but I do believe 100% he was told to "keep it simple", "be hard on the forcheck", "grind the play down low", or whatever else. Again, no source, but do you honestly think those types of things weren't stressed to our no skill 4th liners?... Anyway, I'm done with this. We'll see how he does in Chicago.

He absolutely does know how to toe drag, and we would have probably seen it a lot more in Detroit, if he wasn't told by his coach(es), to keep it simple, dump and chase, make the "safe play"... He had unbelievable mitts in junior and in the AHL... What do you think he just forgot how to play? Nope, he was told to not play his skill game and play a "heavy / grinding" game... Why does it matter if he's a Wing or not? We have a trade deadline thread and we have two threads dedicated to one trade that affects the Red Wings in no way. I don't give a s*** about the Bishop trade, so I don't partake in the conversation...

So sick of the whole "YouTube star" bulls***... Jurco has the skill as a hockey player, not just stick handling challengers... He proved it in junior, and in Grand Rapids, and even his first stint in Detroit when he was actually utilized properly, in the top 9. He clicked on a line with Tatar and Sheahan, but for whatever reason neither Babcock and Blashill reverted back to it. No one is saying Jurco is an elite talent, but he absolutely does have middle 6 NHL talent. Name a none elite player (middle 6 winger) that would have success on a line with the likes of Glendening, Andersson, Miller, etc. There are very few. Imagine how awful Tatar or Nyquist would look with those scrubs. Imagine Mantha coming up this year and playing a game with them, then being scratched for 7 because he didn't produce. It's very easy for a coach to ruin a players career, I just hope for Jurco's sake, he got out of there before it was too late. I don't expect him to be a point per game player in Chicago or anything, but 30-40 points, middle 6 winger is realistic if he's utilized properly, and I think he will be.

They dont even have to re-sign Zatkoff. Just have to submit a qualifying offer to Campbell and their requirments are fuffilled. This is really a non issue.

Both of whom wanted him to be something he's not. Lions fans remember Kyle Van Noy. Couldn't get on the field in Detroit, played well for New England in their Super Bowl run. Why? Usage. He was a 3-4 OLB in college, Detroit runs a 4-3. He didn't fit. NE runs a hybrid 4-3/3-4, he fills a role there. Babcock and Blashill wanted Jurco to play a "heavy" game. He doesn't do that naturally, didn't fit what they wanted. If the Hawks use him opposite Hossa for more than a game or two, we'll find out for sure if it was a usage issue or a talent issue.

Damn was really hoping Stevie would deal to us Bishop and get rid of our garbage in net. Send Mrazek and someone else they're way. Bishop steals games night in and out! Quick and Bishop in LA, why!?

A high price to pay if that is the case. If they wanted to protect certrain players they could have just offered the pick to the LGK instead. My guess is that the don't trust their tandem Budaj/Quick. I can see why, but the way Budaj has played this season the price for them is way too high for my taste. Edit: I take it back, it's just a seven round pick. It's still stone cold regarding Budaj qho is one of the main reasons the Kings are holding a playoff spot.

Ah the old "do you know who I am?" line. Same line Pat Kane uses to wheel broads at the bar. Classic.

    Looking ahead at expansion draft

You would have to think GM's would not want them to come out. Its just asking for fans to be upset as there is no way any fan base will completely agree with the choices. As a fan though, I want to see the list!
