    Targets for the Wings

Can confirm. http://www.spotrac.com/nhl/minnesota-wild/ryan-suter-1858/ $7.5M cap hit for the next eight years, for a 32-year-old defenseman who's got a lot of miles on the odometer. Hard pass.

    2017 Draft

Now you just need to work on realizing that "European" doesn't actually have anything to do with what you're talking about, so you'll stop sounding like a bigot and stop ignoring players you know nothing about other than where they come from.

Always will be. It was a continuation of the Flaming A from the Atlanta Flames before they relocated to Calgary. Dunno what else they'd use. They did have the fire breathing bull logo as their third jersey at one time. Lol

Parise's contract is even worse. I'll be surprised if he plays that out.

Hell, I'm not sure I'd even classify him as an elite defenseman at this point in his career. Also, we're talking about a trade scenario. So, we'd be adding an albatross contract and we'd be parting with at least a couple significant assets. Which...just...no. So much no.

    Targets for the Wings

100% agreed. It would be one thing if we signed him while we were still in contention, but taking his contract now would just be a bad move. While he would still be elite, we would not be contenders. Then when/if we become contenders, he would likely be in regression and ridiculously overpaid. There could be a year or two of overlap where he is worth it, but not worth screwing our cap for almost a decade.

perspective on the #7 overall pick

The point isn't cherry picking busts or superstars. The point is we should be expecting a good player but not necessarily a cornerstone type player. Sent from my LGLS676 using Tapatalk

Yeah Tim and Mark Hunter both played on that team. No relation to Mark and his two brothers who also played in the league. His nose is still messed up like that. Haha

I see this series going 7 games with a few OT's. Pretty close so far.

Blues in 6 if Allen keeps playing lights out. He had struggles mid season and was given time off and didn't even travel with the team. Doing great now. Must be that bright blue and yellow Winter Classic gear, blanked out Sher-Wood stick, and white mask. Blues have a Cup draught as long as the Leafs. Like to see them get to the Finals.

Its the same as any business. If you have connections its easier to rise through the ranks. That doesnt mean someonw cant work their tails off and hurdle that.

    2017 Draft

The point youre missing, and that I'm trying to make, is that you automatically equate being european to being soft. So youre biased towards NA players, which skews your view of who the most talented player in the draft is. There are loads of soft NA players and also some extremely physical europeans. You were already down on signing Victor E despite him being 6'5" 210 at 21 years old, arguably a player already physically dominant. But alas... european "style" in your eyes.

Nurse, Schiefele, Skinner, Suter, Dumba, Voracek, Okposo I'd be more than happy with.

    Griffins Calder Cup Playoffs Thread

I've watched a lot of Missasauga and Erie in the playoffs. I like both of them ...a lot. Sambrook is mobile..he has decent size and nice shot from the point. Vili is just...amazing..on skates. Runs the PP well and he plays really smart positionally. Vili is potentially a top pairing or elite 2nd pairing guy. Sambrook is more a second pairing guy...but he could definitely run your 2nd unit PP someday. Love to see us take a shot at Erie C Ivan Lodnia if he's there in the 2nd round...London's Rob Thomas would be a possibility there too.

That's a combined $21M against our cap for the next infinity years, and their best days are already behind them. F*** that.

Yzerman was a much better offensive player in his prime. How many times has Tayes even finished top 10 in scoring? Tayes right now is the player Yzerman was in his mid 30's. More focused on two-way play and not putting up the big numbers.

Stan Bowman's top priority should be getting out from under the Seabrook contract. 32-year-old middle-pairing defenseman in decline. $6.875M x 7 years. Very nope. Much woof. Poor doge.

They should have put a clause in his contract about finishing top 10 in scoring every year.

Let me preface this by saying, I would never speak negatively of the Detroit Red Wings #1 starting goalie Jimmy Howard. He is a superior athlete and fantastic goal tender. I will love him and praise his name always. However, with this sweep and Elliot's season... This may be an opportunity to move Jimmy Howard...
