This will never be an objective poll, no matter how much people debate 'stats' or trophies or whatever, because personal biases will always play a part. I voted for Yzerman, yes because he was the heart and soul of this franchise until the day he stepped off the ice, but also because he was my hero and I will never NOT think he was the greatest thing to happen to hockey since May 9, 1965. People who voted for others have entirely valid reasons, but they also probably have a soft and squishy. But I will also say that NO other player has people sprung talking about "bring back so-and-so" like Yzerman does. People *still* want him back in this org. Is it because he has proven himself as the most super amazing GM the sport has seen in recent years? You're fooling yourself if you say yes. So what is it? The guy flat out embodies the Wings for so many people that they pine for him over a decade later. That's gotta say something about his importance to this franchise.

Yzerman was a top 5 point league scorer for like 4-5 different seasons. Has Toews EVER been a top scorer in the league? In fact, Anze Kopitar consistently scores more points than Toews (except this past season) and has won the Selke, two Stanley cups. Yet for some reason he isn't on your list with Toews, Ovie, Crosby. Your own post shows just how overrated Toews is when players comparable to him (Bergeron, Kopitar) aren't even named! I'll take it another step. Bergeron has MORE Selkes than Toews, scores at about the same rate (slightly lower), best face off guy in the league, won the stanley cup. Yet... he's not listed amongst this supposed Crosby, Ovie, Toews level..? Btw both Bergeron and Kopitar have been "beasts" in the Stanley cup finals scoring, Kopitar finished a post season with 26 points, Bergeron with 20 points in the 2011 cup run. Toews is not at Ovie or Crosby's level. Toews is at the level of Bergeron and Kopitar. And that's as far as that goes. Bergeron is better defensively than Toews and Kopitar is better offensively than Toews. But overall, the three of them are in the same category. I would even say that prime Datsyuk and Zetterberg are better than all three Bergeron, Toews, Kopitar and slightly under Crosby and Ovie. My point is I don't even think those 3 (Bergeron, Toews, Kopitar) are a tier below Crosby or Ovie I think they're about a tier and a half below. And my final point is. You talk about how being a two way player prevents putting up high numbers. I say bulls***. Sergie Fedorov is a living example of a guy who won Selke, Hart, Pearson and was a top league scorer all within the same season in 1994. Another more recent example is Pavel Datsyuk in 2008 who scored 97 points (4th highest in the league) and won a Selke the same year. Datsyuk did it but Toews never could finish top 5 in scoring. The fact of the matter is, a 2 way player CAN be a top league scorer and there are plenty of players who have done it. Just not Jonathan Toews because Jonathan Toews was never good enough to do it. Believe me even I didn't realize half the crap I'm saying until I actually looked the stats up. Because that's how the TSN and rest of Canadian sports media brain washes you. When you actually go look it up, you realize Toews has never even finished top 10 in scoring let alone top 5 or top 3 or 4 like other 2-way players have in this sport have over the years. Fedorov 1994 - won Selke and finished 2nd highest in scoring after Gretzky Fedorov 1996 - won Selke and finished top 10 in scoring Yzerman in 2000 - won Selke and finished top 10 in scoring Datsyuk 2008 - won Selke and finished 4th in league scoring Zetterberg 2008 - didn't win Selke but finished 3rd, finished 6th in league scoring So what's Toews' excuse?

Man Didn't know van riemsdyk was so good that a team would be forced to take another contract tsn an had a mock draft and button and some other guy both had Vegas taking Ryan sproul which is not what I wanna see happen, still had nice upside especially for the ppl i wanna trade mike green to oilers even more (yes I know it won't happen) and protect ouellet sproul dekeyser ... I like Jensen but he's a 5-6 , ouellet just reminds me of vlasic , not crazy stats but good and reliable, sproul has the right handed shot and upside for the ppl and dekeyser struggled last season but so did most of the team and he's playing out of position so I'm not ready to give up on him

    Targets for the Wings

Yeah, Faulk is amazing. Another 2nd round steal. You say they're looking for centers? Sheahan for Faulk straight up. It's a steal for Carolina really. I mean, we're basically trading our 2010 1st round pick for their 2010 2nd round pick... Back to reality... Yeah, I would think any of those first 4 you mentioned should be able to be had for the right price. I think both Hanifin and Faulk would be on their "untouchable list" though... Bean would be my target of the 4, but for the same reason, he may be the hardest to convince the Caines to trade. Bean would instantly become our top prospect, and legit shot at being a number one defenseman in couple years. If we added Bean via trade and Glass (if available) in this year's draft, I think we would be in pretty good shape going forward.

    beers!

I actually like the grapefruit shandy, and I'm not a fan of fruity beers. Could be I just really like grapefruit. I struggle to find beer I enjoy in the summertime. I tend to like heavier, stout/ale types and those just aren't as tasty when it's hot out. Atwater's Dirty Blonde is usually my go to when it gets warm--local, easy to obtain, and "summery" enough to be satisfying without feeling super light. This looks tasty as hell.

My only fear about paying Vegas to take a bad contract is that Holland will use the savings to give someone a contract that's as bad or worse.

I like Slavin a lot, and I've mentioned going after him or Pesce in the past. I'd give up one of Nyquist or Tatar for Slavin without thinking twice. Carolina have a glut of high end defensemen in their system. Fleury or Bean would be great options as well.

I think Crosby needs to win a 3rd cup (maybe not now, I'm still rooting for the Preds) for the hockey world to hit a reset button on overrating some of these players. It's not just Toews but also Duncan Keith and to a lesser degree Patrick Kane being on the top 100 players list that boggled my mind this year. No doubt Kane is a great player but it's wayyyy to early to establish him in the top 100 list when you have guys like Malkin who are more deserving. But Keith over Housley? Come on...

In case anyone was still dismissive or doubtful of the NHL's special treatment of and bias toward the Penguins, look no further than Kunitz's cross check on Subban. Niskanen was immediately handed a game misconduct because Crosby fell into him awkwardly. Kunitz intentionally cross checked another player in the top of the spine while he was face down against the boards and he received a minor penalty. Case closed.

What a total crosby!, oops, I mean crybaby. You're right there's no players in the NHL that complain about calls. He would never last a shift playing beside the likes of Nyquist.

Man, that was fun to watch. Thanks for posting that. I remember being so nervous before that game, and just being out of my mind watching it.
