He's paid about right for his role here I'd say. Maybe slightly more. He certainly has skills of a #1 but any competitive team is better off using him mostly as a specialist and offensive zone s***.

In that scenario I'd shop the pick to someone who REALLY wanted Svech, and take whatever futures they're willing to give. If we don't draft #1 then I'd be fine with drafting somewhere 5-10. Especially if that meant we'd get another 1st round pick. Like I said elsewhere, I'd rather draft the best available defenseman at 5-10, and then a center at 15-25, than anything other than Dahlin. Drafting someone like Dobson, Bouchard (who Buppy turned me on to) or Hughes early in the first, and Veleno or McBain later, plus getting additional picks for trading back from 2nd would be much better than taking a winger with the 2nd pick. As deep as this draft is, I want as many picks in the top two rounds as possible and at least two in the first. If I were the GM I'd trade Green AND one of Nyquist/Tatar and draft in the first three times. Can you imagine how far along it would move our rebuild with three first rounders? Take Larkin/Mantha/AA, plus Rasmussen, Cholowski, and Sarijaarvi/Hronek/Sambrook, plus three first rounders this year and your rebuild is very nearly done.

However, if this is the reputable source, you really need to find better sources for your draft rankings. This one has to be one of the worst out there in my opinion. As for actual reputable sources, Bob McKenzie has him outside of his top 20 preseason rankings https://www.tsn.ca/the-year-of-swedish-defencemen-1.852963. Craig Button had him at 23 in his pre-season ranking, but moved up to 20 on his list last month https://www.tsn.ca/craig-s-list-dahlin-dominating-one-canadian-in-top-10-1.915356. I guess you can also consider a couple Sportsnet guys to be somewhat reputable... Jeff Marek had him ranked 13 on his list last month http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/sportsnets-2018-nhl-draft-prospect-rankings-november/ and Sam Cosentino has him ranked 14 on his list this month http://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/sportsnets-2018-nhl-draft-prospect-rankings-november/. I usually just go by the TSN rankings (Mac and Button), as they usually tend to be the most accurate year after year. A lot of other guys usually go for the hot takes, or purposely go off the board with random players, just in case they rise or fall, they can be the ones to say they knew when others didn't... For what it's worth, here are a few other random sites, that I personally don't take a whole lot of stock in, but I'm sure some do... I don't know much about Bouchard other than his stats, as I haven't done much research on many of the draft eligible players yet, but if we could get him with the Green trade, I'd be thrilled.

I didn't come up with any logic. I pointed out that Z was assistant. You could say that both Z and Fedorov were both part of the leadership core in the stanley cup victories. Unfortunately for Feds though he was stripped of his title. That's not a good thing. Bringing up how Feds was an "A" doesn't work in his favor. He got stripped of that title. The things to focus on would be stuff like his accomplishments and franchise records with the team. I did some of that stuff in the initial pages of this thread in the summer.

I agree. I think with as much time that has passed a lot of people have forgotten just how good Fedorov was. Imo Feds is the most complete player I've ever seen play the game. Wicked slap shot, extremely powerful wrist shot. Dangles, defensive, faceoffs, fastest skater in the world. I mean there's nothing I haven't seen him do. The guy even fought on (very extremely) rare occasions lol. It wasn't a part of his game but this one is pretty nice.
