Yes, that's exactly it. A junior player is eligible to play in the AHL if they will be 20 years old by December 31st of that season OR has already played 4 seasons in the CHL. Because Veleno was granted exceptional status, he's already played his 4 years of junior and can play in Grand Rapids next season. I think he has a real shot to make the Red Wings roster out of camp next season, but wouldn't be surprised to see him start with in GR. I think he'll get a good look in Detroit at some point next season though.

The Canes have a good, young, up and coming team, that are a lot of fun to watch. To say you can't watch the series because you don't like the jersey's is absurd... By the way, the logo is a "hurricane", not a f***ing rose... They may not be the most aesthetically pleasing jerseys, but they're not that hideous to not be able to watch the games... The only thing I don't like about that current team is their sideshow post game celebrations, but I'm not going to go full Don Cherry and rant and rave about it...

I'm completely impartial to Datsyuk coming back. If he does, cool. If he doesn't, cool...

I thought that the master plan, was to have Lidstrom's sons breed with Yzerman's daughters, and make us plenty of "Perfect Red Wings". And just by coincidence, Datsyuk's house, which has been for sale or rent, since Summer of 2015, had it's listing pulled at the end of March. And, it's still fully furnished, so all he has to do is bring a suitcase or two, and unpack.

He was cruising towards it already at age 37 in the NHL. Guy couldn't play a full season without injury, you actually don't think he's going to be injury prone coming back at age 41?

Datsyuk is way too old and don't even mention Nielsen. That contract is a disaster. We don't need another player like that. He doesn't contribute enough for that contract.

So Calgary is gonna have roughly $7 million to spend on re-signing Rittich, Bennett, and Tkachuk, assuming that they drop Mike Smith or re-sign him for cheap cheap. That's also assuming they fall back on Rittich and don't go goalie shopping, which would lower that $7 mill. They might be worse off than the Caps... I assume Rittich can prolly get at least $2 mill, Bennett $2 mill, and Tkachuk $6 mill. I honestly don't think they'll trade a young Dman. I think they'll try to off load an older more expensive guy on their D core, or James Neal and give away picks with him. That would free them up to get their young ones under contract and also solidify the net which they really need.

Where's the hell no option? His last year in the NHL he was a shadow of himself. He's not going to be better after 3 years in the KHL. He'd probably play 50 games and score maybe 30 points. Because 40-50 points isn't that great and the spot could go to a young player

Personally, I'm not expecting him back. And if he does come back, I wouldn't expect much from him. This is not prime years Datsyuk. This isn't even 2015-16 Datsyuk. Milstein says his hockey sense is great, and it is, but of course Milstein's gonna say that. Datsyuk was slowing down in a noticeable way in his last season with the Wings, and that was several years ago. The league has gotten much faster since then. And we're rebuilding. Good to know there's no bad blood or hard feelings between the parties, but I'm not getting too excited. I don't think we should be too quick to abandon the AA-at-center project. If we're talking about the possibility of being able to roll Larkin, AA, Datsyuk, Nielsen as our four centermen, that's something I think could get behind. That's arguably a solid playoff-caliber group.
