This is my thought as well. He is just too young to know for sure how he will turn out. Lindstrom, on the other hand, is a Biega, Bowey level dman. Easy enough to replace, but still potentially better than Cholowski. Stecher is better than both. I would protect Hronek, Cholowski, Stecher

I wouldnt even do 5 years. Too many upcoming forwards to fit onto the roster. SY should be focused on 1 and 2 year deals for UFA forwards.

5-6 mil over 8 years is very generous... he's worth 6 now, but 3 years in I can't see it.

So we're gonna keep Veleno in GR to make room for Svech? No thanks. We're gonna trade Fabbri to make room for Svech? No thanks. We'll dump Erne to make room for Svech? No thanks. And this is all assuming Yzerman signs ZERO forwards, which will not happen. People need to face facts. Svech is done in Detroit.

Who does he beat out for a job in the middle 6? Bert, Vrana, Zadina, Fabbri, Namestnikov, Erne. All better than Svech. Assuming Yzerman brings in center depth, you'll have Ras join that list. We'll have Raymond and Berg knocking on the door from GR. And this assumes he doesn't even sign another winger!

Serious injuries, followed by a coach with no trust in him. Would have liked to see more opportunity in a middle 6 role. Not saying he will be as good as a Jarnkrok or Janmark, but definitely better than a Pulkkinen or Nestrasil.

He still has the ability to be a decent middle six winger, IMO. Kinda reminds of Jarnkrok and Janmark in that they were both decent NHL forwards who were never given a chance in Detroit.

Yzerman could sign Hamilton, Hyman, and Grubauer + extend Bertuzzi and Vrana at 5.5 per and still have 20M left to spend on 7 - 8 plugs. That's how much space he has. It'll be 6 years before Raymond or Seider will be making the big pay. Larkin ain't getting a raise and it remains to be seen if guys like Htonek or Zadina will ever be more than 5M/per players. He shouldn't. and won't. But signing Hyman would be to Detroit's cap what one beer was to Andre the Giant. I'm trying to put Yzerman's nearly 50M in cap space into contect here.

I'd rather trade Bertuzzi and a 2nd for Boeser and keep our two picks.
