I know we are disappointed as fans, but this is the exact kick in the pants this team needs/needed. They probably thought they were giving their 100% to make the playoffs. And they just learned their (what they think is) 100% isnt enough. Its a bitter lesson, but one that has to be learned by every team. You can't coast for the last 20 games of the season and I then expect to make it on miracle goals in the few seconds of the last 2 games. Now it's on Derek to channel that dissapointment into desire to correct those mistakes and overcome. And on Yzerman to augment personal to make us even better next year. Kudos to Derek and Stephen and Larkin on the exciting season most of us didn't see coming. You don't go from bottom feeder to cup champ in one season. I trust them to build from here. LGRW!

He constructed a roster that was one injury away from blowing the entire season AND THEN didn't do anything to address any deficiencies at the trade deadline. I'd say a big part of this is on him. Poor Dylan Larkin. Literally did everything he needed to do to make the playoffs and the team lost it for him when he was out.

50/50 Part of me thinks Yzerman had playoff hopes when signing Kane - at that time all was going well. Part of me thinks Yzerman didn't want to cash in some future assets/picks/etc at the deadline for a shot at the playoffs. The rebuild continues...I'm hoping there are changes behind the bench.

Yah, its ok for Edvinsson, Johansson, Tuomisto, Wallinder, and ASP to make physical mistakes they learn and get better from. Right now, we are just watching shetty defensemen make a lot of mistakes. Chiarot just let his man stand there while he did a ridiculous pirouette. Big surprise. Without a defensemen between him and the net and a wide open net and tons of time, he scored. That's not a mistake. That's SUCKING. Thats not understanding the basic principle of defense - stay between your net and the defender. Chiarot is SO F V CKING BAD. I cant believe we had to pay 4.75 million for him. He's a NEGATIVE to the team. It's a joke.
