I agree with one of the posters but I think "Dan Cleary Arena" has a better ring

The "We Like Our Team Arena"

will there be a "kicking the tires" area in this arena ;-)

My wish: A healthy roster

Not being from Detroit, what are the plans for Joe Louis Arena? Will it be razed?  If so, is there any discussion of using the same name for the new arena?

"3rd Period Implosion Arena"

I don't see it being anything creative, it will get sponsored and be something obnoxious like "Geico Fifteen Minute Forum".

I am sticking with my original thought:

Cadillac Centre...

named after the founder of Detroit and they could throw some pretty nice cars in the lobby as well...

I think the smart thing would be to turn it into a public skating indoor arena and of course rentable for future hockey teams, a city can't have enough hockey rinks :)

Steve Howe Arena.

Sounds corny, but I think an arena honoring the two most important players in franchise history wouldn't be bad.

According to my profile, my reputation is excellent. LOL.

I'd like to see the Big 3 get together and name it Motor City Arena or something.

Oh this young man has had a very trying rookie season, with the litigation, the notoriety, his subsequent deportation to Canada and that country's refusal to accept him, well, I guess that's more than most 21-year-olds can handle... Ogie Ogilthorpe!

If IKEA was smart, they would buy the naming rights.

So, it would be called "Hockey-Arena Bjorn" ? This needs to happen.

I've read they want to expand the adjoining Cobo Hall event center.

Maybe if we all chip in they can call it letsgowings.com arena.

Instead of a statue of Howe or Yzerman they can rotate monthly a statue of which ever Wing we hate at the moment for vandalism purposes. Satisfies a lot of needs for Detroit.

Actually, similar to kip wingers suggestion, simply name it "Hockeytown". Not Hockeytown Arena or even Hockeytown Place, rather just Hockeytown.

Good luck on that, we couldn't even get them to save the old Maple Leaf Gardens here in Toronto. Now its a grocery store.

Joe Louis, should probably go under some kind of renovation make it look less like a hockey arena and more like an events centre.

As for the name, it sure would be a classy new trend to get away from Corporate names. I liked the Motor City idea blanketing the auto industry as a whole without naming it GM Ford or Chrysler.

Call it Windsor.  Then ask people for directions.

"What about me?"

I've "Googled" for an image of the shovels-in-the-dirt ceremony for the arena; came up empty.

Until that happens, this is a moot point.

The Coliseum of course :w00t:

Given the fact that it'll no doubt receive some sort of corporate sponsor, I think The ___ Coliseum is a great idea.

Well, a better ring to it than , "Dan Cleary, starting at forward tonight", anyway. :-)
