#2628473 Model Tries to Blackmail Jagr

I love his mullet, and his attitude.....MULLETTUDE!

/Raises a dram of the Macallan in salute to the epic awesomeness of Jagr's mulletude.

The vid on TSN from the league explaining the suspension was pretty clear it was a head shot. Long overdue. He should have been banned from the the league earlier. As others have said, hopefully this forces him out of the league next year.

Agreed, having two solid goalies is not a bad thing.

Larkin scored 2(basically three) goals when matched up against Malkin, then he gets one goal and 2assists matched up against Crosby, and neither of them scored while he was matched up against them.
He's looking like a 1st line center already, I can see why they'd put him in grand rapids, but I'd like to see him start off the season in Detroit with top 6 minutes. If he's legitimately already capable of playing at a 1/2c level, he should stay up regardless of the circumstances, and I think hes earned a few games to see if he can be a top 6 c already.

Larkin is definitely looking like a stud. I'm honestly torn. If he is going to stay up, it shouldn't be in a fourth line role, IMHO. I think he (and the Wings) long-term would be better served by him being the stud 1C dominating in GR than only having spot duty in the NHL. The opportunity to further develop chemistry with Mantha and AA or Bertuzzi could lead to a line that has a bigger impact than Tampa Bay's vaunted triplets line. Pavel's injury does seem to leave a door open for him, though.

Did you really suggest a cab in a Patrick Kane thread?

Someone had to put their twenty cents in. ;)

#2624490 Howard's New Mask

Posted by TheXym on 03 September 2015 - 06:07 AM

I read in the Malik Report that he has a lion tattoo that inspired the mask. Here's the link from In-Goal magazine that George posted.

If they put lions on Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Kronwall, and Green's helmets will that turn the power play into Voltron? Or is Jimmy trying to channel his inner Lion-O? (Sorry for the old '80's cartoon references, I haven't had my coffee yet today).

#2624486 So this is why teams hate the wings

Being a fan from 1984 - that was 13 seasons (and 1995 Final) of frustration, and near misses for me until Detroit won the Cup in '97.

I became a fan in December '83 after seeing the Wings live for the first time. I was a kid and thought Yzerman had the coolest name and was just awesome on the ice and loved the uniforms. I instantly converted from Flyers fandom to my dad's chagrin.

Sleeping on them is ok, but who wants to be judged by Babcock while having sex? Or hearing his voice in the throes of passion, "You need work harder, be tougher in the crease" Too much pressure. I shutter just thinking about it.

Totally changes the concept of "back side pressure," doesn't it.

Next thing you know Shanny will show some real chutzpah and offer Craig Janney a job.

If he was sent down, my understanding is the full amount would be offset by the cap relief if that was to happen. If he gets$1.5 million, then $575,000 would still be on the wings cap hit.

The wings get approx $925,000 salary cap relief if a player is sent down, anything below that amount no longer affects them, anything above does. If it's a two-way deal odds are his NHL salary is below that $925,000 threshold and would be offset by the cap relief. That's probably why many folks are OK with Andersson being waived (plus he'd likely clear).

A two-way deal simply means a player receives a different salary at the AHL level than the NHL level. It has nothing to do with waivers. A one-way deal means the player is paid the NHL salary even if they are sent down.

#2620674 Pittsburgh: America's hockey capital? Lol

Posted by TheXym on 16 July 2015 - 08:58 AM

Pittsburgh is Steelers and Pirates territory. If the Pens aren't winning, they don't care about them. I remember being in Pitt for all-states in 2009 (coinciding with the start of the playoffs). My Zetterberg jersey got lots of dirty looks. When we went to a Pirates game (a 20-0 loss to the Brewers), the guy behind me started talking smack to me due to the Konstantinov jersey. My response was "If you suffered through the dark days of Dickie Tarnstrom leading the Pens in scoring from the blue line we can have a great conversation about hockey, if you're a Crosby bandwagoner zip it because you can't spell Crosby without sob and cry."

His buddy started laughing and said "the Wings fan knows more about the Pens than you ever will". We ended up having a nice discussion during the game, they bought us several rounds and recommended some good places to watch hockey. They also said that it's a bandwagon hockey city.

As much as I'm a fan of Miller on the fourth line (& of course star wars nicknames), I'd really like to see how well a callahan-glendog-ferrero fourth line would play together sometime in the next couple seasons.

Han-Luke-Lando works with the Star Wars motif

That 4th line could seriously wreck shop.
