Savard to waive no trade clause

Was over on hockeysfuture and read that Savard has said he is willing to waive his no trade clause to three teams, Detroit, Toronto and Ottawa. Hudler+1st round pick for Savard? Filpulla+? for Savard. I would try to pull the trigger on this.

Panthers Looking to Deal 1st Round Pick

    Of course.

They sold their future for a cup... that's really what it comes down to, but at the same token, they're stock piling so many picks, that they'll likely be loaded with young talent in 5 years again... probably not a horrible plan in the cap era, however, it's risky and I hope they fall fast and HARD

If Florida would make that deal I'd do it without question. Losing Meech is worth going up 6 spaces. I wouldn't part with Ritola to move up 6 spots. Ritola hasn't had a chance to show us what he can do in the NHL and has lots of untapped potential right now.

Smith could fill Rafi, as for Nick.. thats just not fair... we can draft D men #1 overall for years in a row and still never fill those skates.

Not so fast! Can't see anyone taking on that freakin joke of an overpayment. Wouldn't even be able to talk the Rangers into something that cap ludicrous.

What are you seriously on about? No one mentioning drafting "zero risk tough guys." We're just talking about getting some bigger bodies in our team. You need some chill pills...and some nausea pills.

    Wolski Re-signs with Coyotes

He did well last year on both squads, but I agree, that seems a little steep. I guess they really wanted to keep him. He is also pretty young though, and hasn't yet realized his potential.

What the majority of Hawks "fans" do anyway...

I'd be fine with giving him an invite to camp and if he earns a job, giving him a contract then - I wouldn't want them to sign him outright, even for league minimum...

Seems a small group of posters (or one guy with multiple accounts) has been repeatadly negging all of my posts. Impressive, no? He/they have negged me about 50/60 times in the last 24 hours. Im just a little peeved off

Savard to waive no trade clause

Usually I don't agree with a damn thing you say - but you're dead on, on this one. He would be an instant fan favorite here... I would give up any number of prospects and picks to get Lucic...

    Sakic vs Yzerman Debate

Maybe it's my Red Wings bias showing but I have to give the edge to Stevie - he has more goals, more points, more Cups and he was captain of the Wings longer than Joe was the captain of the Avs. Joe didn't change his game halfway through his career to become more of a two-way center (regardless of the reason he did it). Also, Stevie suffered that horrific knee injury early in his career and went on to play another 18 years on a knee that was steadily deteriorating and required multiple procedures over the years just to keep it in semi-working order. Not to mention his heroic performance in the 2002 playoffs when it finally did give out and his comeback after a knee realignment surgery that old people get just so they can walk. In terms of leadership and respect, I think they're pretty close but I would still give the edge to Stevie. He is the epitome of a class act and has the utmost respect throughout the league. Do you think the fans of Tampa Bay would have gone just as gaga over Joe being named the GM as they did over Stevie? I don't. However, Joe and Stevie are pretty dang close. They're both well-respected, class individuals who are similar in that they led their teams with a quiet authority and never really drew all the attention to themselves. Stevie might be in the top spot, but Joe isn't even a full step behind him.

    JARRED TINORDI...pleeeeeease be about it...

That's all great in theory, but it just doesn't apply to real hockey. Have you ever played competitive hockey? It doesn't work like that. Do you think Richards was trying to target Booth's head? Hits like that should be punishable, but you cannot base it on the injury. For those that have played hockey, the hit to the head is a lot like checking from behind. While it can be done purposely, most of the time a check from behind is a result of bad judgment, the player turning, unpreparedness of player being hit, etc.

I'm all for getting rid of the instigator, but I don't think it'll have a lot of impact on headshots. It probably requires an immediate call on the ice, but more importantly a league review to try and determine if it was just a mis-timed hit, or headhunting. Then a suspension based on that determination. The problem is that as long as Campbell is the one reviewing these hits, the suspensions will continue to be a total joke. Any new rule without getting rid of Campbell won't be very effective.

    Honest Question about AHL ownership

CapnSmitty is right. The Griffins are independently owned (by a group headed by Dan DeVos). They have had a Primary Affiliation with the Detroit Red Wings since 2002. Prior to that, it was with the Ottawa Senators. The newest agreement was signed in the Spring of 2007 and extends for a 5 year period - if I remember correctly. As part of the 2007 agreement, the Wings acquired responsibility for the GR coaches, and immediately fired Head Coach Greg Ireland who was the winningest coach ever for GR. I think this responsibility was negotiated back the following year after a horrible season with the new coach that Detroit picked. He was released too. Also based on the agreement, Detroit must provide a minimum number of players to GR - I want to say its like 16 or 18. The rest are GR's responsibility. They sometimes sign a secondary affiliation with another NHL team - like with Dallas when the Stars were without their own primary AHL affiliate. As part of the affiliation agreement, GR works with the NHL club to determine how much playing time a player gets and on any individual development issues. It is not common for employees of the AHL affiliate to graduate up to the NHL affiliate since they are usually independently owned. However, often the AHL coaches and equipment managers become like Black Aces similar to the players when the AHL season is done if the NHL team is still in the playoffs.

Thats the thing, he performed well at the u18's so he seems great. He's like the 17th ranked European skater so I would not be happy with that when there is 17 Europeans ranked higher and only about 3 will be off of the board by then probably. Macfarland is compared to Brendan Morrow, if he's half the warrior Morrow is then he's worth our pick.

He's just saying what he wants teh wings to do this draft. No reason to get snappy. And seeing Finnish wing reply reminded me that I don't want that Pulkinen or whatever his name is either. 5'11 European, no thanks.
