Get ready folks, hitting is about to exit our game
Heavymentill and 4 others gave a reaction for a post in a topic
Melodramatic much? It's blindside and it's an elbow to the head. Plus Perron didn't have the puck. 3 strikes and you're out. -

How about these lines?
13dangledangle and 4 others reacted to Buppy for a post in a topic
No offense, but that's stupid. Relying far too much on goalie chemistry for that third line. I know Ozzie is tied for third all-time in goals by a goalie, but he can't carry a line by himself. Swap Stuart and Howie, and McCollum needs top-line minutes in GR to develop. Salei is a stud, no idea why you left him out. And why on earth would you have a dinosaur like Homer starting in goal when we have Miller? Do you not know who Miller's brother is? -

So other than the fact that Thornton plugs Perron with a blindside elbow to the jaw, and Pietrangelo doesn't toss his bucket, what exactly is in that clip? Certainly nothing about hitting no longer being in hockey. -

The video in the thread. You? It's an east-west hit to the head. -
2 pointsThe thing about Bert is he fills a net front type role when he needs to and has size. He's good down low and in the corners and can help get the puck to a sniper like Franzen. You actually think breaking up our second line that have been on a tear is a good idea just to hopefully get Hudler going? Hudler is playing with guys that are good enough that if he is that good he could produce. Fact of the matter is he has became lazy, is still small and extremely weak. Another Abdelkader type guy on this team would be a lot better then that 5'7 lazy midget. When Abby is on a line its much more energetic and if there isn't a scoring chance he is at least banging some bodies and creating energy. If Hudler isnt producing he is playing lazily defensively and getting laid out

Class Act Organization
matthewdanna and one other reacted to Bar Down for a post in a topic
I've been casually viewing this site for awhile but until today I never felt the need to share my opinion. Today, however, was different. My brother was diagnosed with leukemia while playing junior hockey in Saskatchewan earlier this year and he had a bone marrow transplant a couple months ago in Calgary (he's had to live there for the last several months due to the lack of facilities in Sask.). We have been die-hard Red Wings fans since we were really young and it's been a dream of ours to someday watch a game at the Joe but today he experienced the next best thing. Mike Babcock gave him a call this morning and invited him to the Wings practice in Calgary and invited him to meet all of the Wings. Every single Red Wing took the time to not only introduce themselves but genuinely get to know him. He was encouraged by Dats and Zets to stick around for practice prep and to come back after practice for some autographs. Ken Holland offered him tickets for tomorrow's game and Babs invited him back tomorrow to once again hang out with the Wings after their morning skate. For a kid who's been through a lot in recent months, he was on cloud nine today. The Wings have always been my favorite team but today they turned it up a notch. I was absolutely blown away by everything today and I think it's safe to say we all cheer for one of the classiest organizations in the NHL . -

I'd love to see Crosby get killed (literally), but he'll never fight anyone who's a much better fighter than Niskanen. Get used to seeing this type of s***. Now if there was no instigator rule..... -

Not true. This fight was more energetic because of all the pulling and ragdolling. Datsyuk actually fought someone who knew his way around a tussle so there was more strategy involved. Let Crosby take on Perry and see how he fares. esteef -

"Homer" or "Holmer"? -
1 pointThat's because of the Red Wings Presumed Victory theorem that declares: If Wings standing is > 7 positions ahead of their conference opponent, then there's a 75% chance they will make it a tougher game for themselves than it should be. That theorem has been in effect for the last, oh, 10'ish years.

1 pointI wouldn't want him to get killed. I'd rather someone just amputate his legs so that he has to live but can't play the sport that he loves.

I never really used it when it was here, but where's the minus button when you need it? -
1 pointThis made ESPN, so you know it's important. Crosby needs to get the f*** beaten out of him, but no one on the Wings can do it, so I'm rooting for Carcillo to jump him like he jumps his opponents.

11/3 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Flames 1
Hockeymom1960 reacted to LeftWinger for a post in a topic
I find it hilarious when people think that Modano is going to be a 13th or 14th forward! News to everyone, he is not going to be lower than the 9th forward. He was promised third line minutes and that is why he signed here. If he was given unsure answers about how much time he was going to get he would have retired. Like him or not, he WILL be on the 3rd line. Piece O' Carp Hudler is the odd man out. Nice knowing ya Huds! Go back to Russia! edit: for Hudler's $2.8M there are a ton of players who can and have been playing better than him in this league. I'd take any of them of Spudler... -

Kipper kept the Flames in the game. If it wasn't for his effort, this could have easily been a 3-1 or 4-1 game. -
1 pointMaybe I am the crazy one here, but IMO 8 games does not necessarily indicate someone has lost all their talent. Hudler has produced well at every level, including the playoffs, and with limited minutes. He is at an age now where he should just be entering his prime so I do not think it is too crazy to think he is not 'worthless' after struggling in all of 7 games. And I am going to lose a lot of respect for Babcock and Holland if they are letting a player dictate how much ice time he gets... no matter who the player or what he has done in the past.

Trade proposal
Z Winged Dangler reacted to stevkrause for a post in a topic
I don't think trades should really ever be made of roster players when you're winning and especially not once the season is already going - you don't mess with locker room chemisty... so I'm going to have to say no under these circumstances at this time... if you had brought this up in the off season though, I probably would have been all for it... I love Hudles and would hate to see him go, but I LOVE Clarkson's game and think his game is VASTLY underrated, he's not just a goon or even a 4th liner, the guy has genuine power forward skills and adds some snarl as well... but once again, we do not to even be THINKING about trades right now. -

I feel my cynicism melting away. The Lions are going to win a football game; perhaps all is not lost. Perhaps there is love, there is beauty, there is truth and justice in this world. Now I see life in a whole new way; I have been re-born.
