    How stupid is this KHL-team?

I'm sure they actually played a game after that.

They're Canadian I guess. Hockey is... I want to say like a religion but it's probably even greater than a religion. Maybe a cult but it's even greater than a cult. Doesn't seem like a word exists to describe how much hockey means to them. Weren't you here around the time of the Olympics last year? Many of them were easygoing and friendly. All of a sudden the Olympics comes and they're all, "f*** y'all *******!"

    Retire Osgood's #30?

I think Osgood's a lock for the Hall of Fame. They're not going to keep a 400 win goalie out with 3 Cup rings and multiple all star game appearances. Rafters? Who knows. It's anyone's guess at this point. I think there's more reasons to think he'll be up there than reasons why he won't to be honest, but there still may not be enough reasons to get it up there. What I think will be interesting to see is how the fan base regards Osgood 5-10 years after he retires. I've always felt with Osgood that it's a "you don't know what you've got 'til it's gone" situation. He's taken for granted around here, and many newer fans don't remember just how good he was in his prime. Maybe if he was more of a nutjob he'd get more accolades, but I think he's a bit to down to earth to get the media attention necessary while around to be considered a big time goalie. The reality of the matter is though that by all the numbers and all the Cups, he's one of the best goalies in the league over the last 20 years. He really is among an elite group of championship goalies with Roy and Brodeur. Even Hasek only won one Cup, and he's an all time great...

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Osgood is currently tied at 314 with Jacques Plante for fourth all-time for most wins with a single team. The goalies ahead? Martin Brodeur, Tony Esposito, and Terry Sawchuk. He is one of only nine goaltenders to win 300 games with a single team, something that was not done by the following, among others: Patrick Roy Dominik Hasek Glenn Hall Grant Fuhr Gump Worsley Osgood's win total with the Wings alone would place him 19th on the All-time list instead of his current #10 ranking. Osgood was one of the five best goaltenders in the world in his prime. Competing with, among others, three goaltenders who all are argued as the best ever. This isn't Holmstrom or Draper we're talking about. Osgood for a long period was a top notch goaltender in the NHL. He deserves his jersey number to be retired. And as for you who say no HHOF? Are you ******* serious? A 400-win goalie and model citizen is not getting into the HHOF? Dino eventually got in even though he was blackballed by Bowman. He was good but not as good as Osgood.

#5 will be there.. Shanahan, Fedorov were great players but you've gotta be someone really really special to hang in the rafters in JLA...this isn't the pepsi center in denver, colorado.

    Mickey Redmond and Ken Daniels

Being as objective as I can, I've listened to lots of other broadcast teams. I get the NHL Centre Ice package, so I get to check out plenty of games. I think the biggest difference is that while the Redmond-Daniels combo clearly get excited when the Red Wings score, they don't constantly praise the team. They spend a lot of time focusing on the opposing team, and they give credit where credit is due. When they see a bad penalty either way (esp Redmond) they really call it out. I don't think there's a more objective team in the league right now, although I do like the Rangers broadcast team as well.

I find it ironic that you would rather a hockey team fight than actually focus on playing hockey.

so in the KHL coaches can tell their teams to do whatever they want without repercussions? with the red and white jerseys it almost looks like "Bizarro-World" Red Wings out there.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

Arguably, because he is THE best of all time... there is always a lot of debate about this, but I would put Orr behind Lidstrom on said list...

That's not a debate. That's a couple of idiots spouting insanities. What is occurring in this thread is a debate. Go ahead and post a thread asking whether Lidstrom should have his number retired and see the differences. They would be striking.

    Retire Osgood's #30?

The simple fact that we are having this debate means that #30 should not be retired. Retiring a number should be a rare occurrence reserved for the absolute best to ever play for that team. The Red Wings are not an organization that retires numbers willy-nilly, unlike some teams. Was there a debate for #19? No. Will there be a debate for #5? No. The next player on the team to have a chance at having his number retired, after Lidstrom, is Zetterberg.

Come on Lidstrom is a no brainer, looking at the ones hanging there right now outside of Yzerman&Howe, Lidstrom is better than them.

Nice. Are you going to come back tomorrow if they win and admit you were wrong? I didn't think so.

I'm busy counting how many time people have told you to wake up and realize what Larsson did was incredibly stupid. It's definitely been more than two.
