Aussie is one of the most knowledgable people here on Red Wings prospects and there's nothing wrong with following Ritola and wanting him to succeed still. Too bad we can't ship you away to another team's board. Everyone would love that move.

Washed up? Dude has been dominating everytime he's set his f***ed up feet on the ice in the SEL the last couple of years. Last time he was in the NHL he almost singlehandedly got the Avs into the playoffs and was a big part of them getting to the 2nd round. In the Olympics 2010 he was one of very few bright spots in the game where Sweden was eliminated against Slovakia. Cash grab? He's been playing for FREE for Modo in the SEL. And by FREE, I mean as in getting payed NO MONEY. Not only a little bit of money. NO. MONEY. Now he has signed a ******* 1 million dollar contract. Guess what, I'm sure he'd play for zero dollars if it was allowed. If this was about money he probably would have saved himself about 10 operations on his foot and just signed for a KHL team or something. He is doing this for himself. Because he loves to play hockey. And maybe a little bit to prove to people like you that he ISN'T washed up and that he still has hockey in him.

f*** the suspension. Next time Pittsburgh plays New York, Boogaard needs to end Cookes career. He has no respect for his fellow players and is only interested in hurting people. Less ideal than having your goalie of the future get injured, and starting a guy with 0 NHL experience because you have no choice? I think Emery completely out of shape might have been a better option. And again, NOONE is upset that Nabby didn't make it to the Wings. It was almost certain that he'd not make it through waivers. The problem is that a team with 0 playoff hopes picked up a 35 year old who was looking to help someone for the playoffs, and then sits around going "I don't understand why he doesn't want to play here."

Normally I'm with you, but if Cooke had gotten a career-ending injury in that fight, it just means a bunch of other players are safer. I'll take one youtube clip of Cooke getting hurt and ideally not being able to play hockey again, because it means there's gonna be fewer youtube clips of other players getting hurt.

Used to read his stuff but I can't say I miss it now. Most of what he was writing about near the end seemed to be more about music, his kids, baby names, etc. Personally, I prefer to have more than just a little hockey in my hockey writing but I guess I'm weird that way.

Nope, each randomly drafted Islanders player gets to sign an additional player. This player becomes their "bus-buddy" so that nobody gets lost or traded before an away game.

Before this weekend, Filppula had 15 points in 16 games. Hudler had 12 in the same period. Filppula, thus, was "hotter" than Hudler. There isn't a single point this season when Hudler has been better than Filppula, in any respect. Offensively or defensively. He had a good night last night, but then he was playing with Datsyuk.

As stated in "Pirate Radio"..."Spoken like a five-star chicken." Of course, Andrew Ference comes out and says his teammate was wrong, and gets raked over the coals for it. I shouldn't be surprised that no one wants to come out and tell the truth about Cooke. Someone is going to get him. I don't know who, and I don't know when, but it's gonna happen. And it won't be pretty when it does. But if he expects to get sympathy when and if it happens, the only place he's gonna find it is the dictionary.

People dwell on this "diving" thing too much. It's up for the officials to enforce the rule, not the players to have some 100% commitment to the "code". The NHL is about winning, the more you win, the more you get paid. If it helps your team win, you are going to do it. Do I like it? No. But it's not a perfect world where everything is tied up in the a nice bow. If you don't like diving, put the accountability on the refs and the league for not enforcing it enough. If they gave out penalties for everything that looked like a dive, sooner or later players will stop diving. Forsberg is just an absolutely amazing talent, and missing out on that entertainment because you hate him for "diving" is remarkably sad to me. He didn't choose to get injured and miss out on finishing his career on his own terms. He's not a 45 year old guy coming back out of no-where, he didn't even officially retire for crying out loud . Best of luck to Forsberg and may I witness another awe-inspiring plays before he finally cuts his fantastic career tragically short.
