I'd be very glad if he doesn't make the game the way Babcock's been riding him.

I hate the Nucks. They are worse divers than the Sharks. Do they have anyone likeable on that team?

Im a BC boy ... and will be 14 rows behind Luongo for the first and third s***faced sporting my Lidstrom jersey. The Canucks are on fire right now - hopefully Detroit comes to play and sets the tone early. woo!

Well if you look at the standings the Wings sit 4th primarily b/c of sub .500 road play as they would be 1st in the conference if not for this poor play on the road. I think the big picture is if the play on the road continues to be sub-standard it means no higher than a 4th seed and I think that is too low of a seed for the Wings to get out of the West as in order to beat teams like the Hawks, Sharks or Canucks they need home ice advantage. Heck I don't even know if home ice will get them through a playoff series against San Jose. If you look at the last 2 Cup winning teams in 02 & 08 they had home ice for all their rounds and in order to win the Cup again I think that's the route they need to take or at least have home ice for the Western playoffs.

As a Detroit fan here in Vancouver, I can't tell you how much I want the Wings to win this one !! Let's go Jimmy, show them who's boss.

Let's just say it's a shame that JH is not on the ballot. ASG is just a popularity contest. Glad JH can have a restful few days, I remember that some players would really prefer to just take those few days off. That is their reward for being good.

I don't think anyone here cares that Babcock isn't from Michigan... I don't think anyone cared that Datsyuk couldn't speak english... Grow up Quebec. The biggest concern about your team should be that they suck.

They should have hired Don Cherry just for the lolz.

    Jonathan Ericsson Watch Thread

Ericsson could use a few nights in the press box. He needs to get a wake up call. This Edmonton game, with how fast it was really exposed just how slow his brain is working his body. Some very bad decision making that put the team trouble. Both him and Kindl need to fight for their jobs not just be handed one. Commie or Smith in for a couple of games might be what they need. They clearly cannot be paired together in a fast game, so thats hard to blame the players because thats the defense coaches job.

    Jonathan Ericsson Watch Thread

Agree on Hudler for the most part, but not on Ericsson. He had been bad in almost every game this season and refuses to use his size to his advantage. Maybe not brutal like some claim, but he is still has a long ways to go before I'd say he's earning his keep.

    Chicago Blackhawks

We couldn't beat Minny or San Jose this season at all, so I wouldn't be talking. A winning streak is a winning streak. This isn't college basketball you know.

    Is Minnesota for real?

2 games doesn't mean anything. The standings are artificial because of the shootouts and loser points. If you take away the loser points (OT and shootout loses) and the extra point for winning in a shootout (the game should end in a tie after OT with 1 point to each team), the Wild have 39 points in 33 games which is a .591 percentage. Not bad but not so impressive. Incidently, the Wings are at .629 My point is that they aren't doing that great now. It's all part of Bettman's smoke and mirrors...

    Turris speculation

0 points in 6 games when he had no training camp or anything and is playing fourth line minutes for a coach that obviously doesnt like him and a team he doesnt want to be on. You guys are really picking a fair time to judge him. Anyways I heard on TSN maloney is asking a solid young player similar to Turris in age and potential (Kindl?)or a guy who can play now and a pick. So Kindl straight up might actually be enough, than slide Smith into his spot because hes good enough for the NHL now. Or Emmerton, Miller or Eaves plus a 3rd rounder maybe? Those seem like fair value for what his value has been put as. I think playing sheltered minutes with the wings and maybe getting a bit of PP time would see him develop properly and at the least he becomes a solid 50 point 2 way center. He could also hit his stride in Detroit where the system fits his style better and all of a sudden the top line of the future with Nyquist and Turris is secured

    Loyalty Question

I draw the line at other teams jerseys myself. I think in my case though it's just as much spending that kind of cash on another teams jeresey... ewww.

    Jonathan Ericsson Watch Thread

Except Ericsson isn't continuing to play bad. In fact, he's been quite solid back there. He has his brain cramps like most dman have... but overall, he's been fine, and definitely not been the 'problem'. Smith has shown glimpses of greatness, but as we watched in his last game(?) on the Red Wings is his ability to feed the other team free goals. Of course, I see him learning to make better decisions in the future, but right now, to Red Wings standards, he's not ready to crack the roster... yet. Let him play in GR and hone his game. In every loss I can point to one player that made a stupid play that cost us a goal. From Zetterberg's giveaway in the Boston game (which we won in SO), to Howards softy in last night's game to the Blues, but to me, Ericsson is the least of the problems. This team, overall, isn't playing with the spark we saw in 2007, 08, and 09. Unless one can argue Lebda and Lilja were game changers, stop blaming Ericsson.

    Ferraro is the next Helm

Given how young Helm is, I'd say that Helm is the next Helm.

Many of the experts had him in top ten last year and this year as well.

    Ferraro is the next Helm

He's been rejuvenated this year, that's for sure. Calling him the next Helm, while promising, is still a ways away. Helm is a perennial Selke candidate, let's wait for Ferraro to get his defense to that point first.

Say Goodbye to the C, Z.

How did I miss this thread! I think it's safe to assume we all know I wouldn't mind seeing Dats get the "C". I don't think he will but anyone who would complain about it are crazy. I do however think Z will still get it, Im guessing thats what Pavel wants as well so and you should too.

As soon as they scored that one it's safe to say we knew that it was over, embarrassing indeed. Also it's the f%#king Sharks. I hate those guys.

Thanks for sharing I was just going to look for it! It looked pretty wierd from that clip, Philly looked a lot better at the end when they got pissed off and just went for it.
