i love it how people turn into "douches" when they get tough with our guys.

It's a Red Wings game. Not a Michigan game.

    Joey Mac

Obviously, we don't want to ride him long term; he'll likely eventually have a bad game. But at this point, I think he's played well enough in his time up to prove he should be the backup for the rest of this year (and next year, too). I like Conkers but he just doesn't seem to have any gas left, and that worries me come playoff time. Personally, I think Joey could hold the fort during the tighter defensively playoffs if he had to for a few games. Not to mention he's busted his ass to prove he should be up here. Is there anyone on here that really disagrees at this point?

yet you are okay with another player attempting to injure one of ours? solid logic.

Maybe its just me, but im opposed to anything not red and white/cream. I don't think blue against the leafs is gonna happen.

For getting repeatedly punched in the face by Franzen?

    2/12 GDT : Flyers 3 at Red Wings 4

Someone elbows Ericsson to the head with an elbow while jumping and no call. Rinaldo is a ******. Hopefully Big E channels Probie and messes him up later.

I've gotta say Engblom and Strader are SO much better than Pierre and Eddie BlowSidsDyck.

He is. Anyone perceiving a "anti-wings slant" tonight is hearing things.

    Tomas Tatar

He is behind Gustav. After that there's a log jam of guys who proved they can dominate the junior game, can dominate college kids and can dominate other foreigners. Tatar had proven at 18 he can play with men and play well. That's where his hype has come from. He is fast with a gnarly shot. and built like a mini tank.

I was not happy with the first period. The top 2 lines continue to have no chemestry with one another, but Babcock continues to play them together... I HATE that he takes so long to finally change things up but for the love of god take Franzen off of Datsyuk's line!! Franzen is playing pretty bad right now, giving the puck away and just kind of floating around. Other than that, I hope the lines get changed up a bit and the Wings do a better job gaining Philly zone and cycling the puck and getting chances on net. So far they gain the zone, shoot the puck and then Philly clears it... we need PRESSURE!

Agreed. This broadcast team on NBC Sports is just fine. It's when it's Olczyk, Milbury, McGuire that you run into them blowing the hell out of the opposition.

    2/12 GDT : Flyers 3 at Red Wings 4

I don't know, in the game I've been watching they've talked to Lidstrom, spent lots of time admiring Datsyuk, and just plain talked a ton about the Wings.

Scorers are streaky. And if you can find anything that implies the grand consensus is he is the most "clutch" player in the league, I'd be glad to hear it. Franzen currently leads the team in goals and is second in points, so he is doing quite well for himself. Hell, the guy has 1 less game winning goal than Zetterberg has goals. 1. Franzen was injured last playoffs. Not entirely a big deal. The year before he was well over a ppg. 2. Hossa happened to have a great playoff as soon as he was put on Crosby's wing, and hasn't reached anything near that level since. Plus, he was looking for more than Franzen, was not drafted, and in fact was going to be signed after Franzen had his contract already signed. 3. Hudler is the reason Hossa took another deal. That took all summer, and kept Holland from using that extra cap space to gain them both. 4. Franzen is a trade-able asset because he has a lot of value that other teams could want. I have never denied that. But for you to admit that you have to admit he holds value to other teams, including this one. Your posts have stated quite the opposite. So there we go. Franzen gets more flak than anyone on the team, so I don't really think he is overrated.

    If we got Selanne..

I would never give up Hudler who is having a great year for a 41 year old guy on his last year most likely, if KH did this then he should be fired. All the Hudler haters need to face the fact that unless Happy goes crazy and demands 4-5 million a year then hes going to resign here unless hes packaged in a MAJOR trade at the deadline

I own this jersey took me a while to find it though. Apparently Gordie sent him a jersey to wear (hence the name and number 9), yet the vast encyclopedia that is the World Wide Web doesn't seem to register it's existence outside the film. Apparently they never wore one with a white collar Which means mine is most likely a personal production. I did get it on ebay after all. I think it should be red (obviously) but think Toronto should wear blue as well, as someone mentioned. However don't know if I'd like a new jersey or not. I mean we don't really have a diverse history of jerseys to remodel but maybe a new one would be good. Worth reverting to the old logo though and inverting the colours? Or just pedantic?

    Tomas Tatar

Obviously you have never seen him play. He is a St. Louis clone. He has a sniper shot and is fleet of foot. Plays bigger than he is, and has a head for the game. He is behind Nyquvist because of age, but is ahead of the other three you speak of... Even though all three of the prospects could end up being better players in the long run. Out of our forward prospects I would list Tatar second behind Gustav or third behind Calle. I still say when you are looking at them, you have to take in account of who they are playing. I know it is hard to tell when looking at a stat sheet... but then again Tatar has been playing against much harder competition in the AHL. Tatar is playing professionals. Going up against the NHL prospects. The kid is still a kid, and yet he is one of three players in our system that is ready to play in the NHL right now. I just don't get how you can look at a stable full of excellent horses and say this one is worthless because these other ones are winning more easy races.

    If we got Selanne..

Agreed. I'm not totally positive but I thought Chelios requested (some say demanded) the trade once it became clear to him that Wirtz was intent on running the franchise into the ground. I don't really get the negging either. Don't like it? don't read his threads.

Will there be an impact trade by the wings?

JMac has looked pretty good the past few games. Part of that is the fact that he's getting a lot of D support. Det is 1st in the league. This statement is bewildering. The team is .500 on the road, and .875 at home. If they lock up a top spot and have home ice then they have every chance of winning.
