Wait a second. Does this mean we actually get to discuss HOCKEY now, instead of who's fault the lockout/economic situation is? I'm confused.

At least NHL should offer Center Ice for FREE for "whole" season.

Canadian hockey fans - they mad!

No different to the Wings fans on these boards that react to playoff losses to the likes of Nashville and San Jose by asking their fans how many cups they've won.

Pierre LeBrun ‏@Real_ESPNLeBrun A tentative agreement has been reached between NHL and NHLPA - source Nick Kypreos ‏@RealKyper Sportsnet learned 64.3m final cap hit. Nick Cotsonika ‏@cotsonika Reported details: 10-year CBA with out after eight; contracts limited to seven years, eight to re-sign; $64.3M cap in '13-14. More details to come. I'm going to sleep. Thank you all and here's to a new Red Wings season

Oh man this could be huge. My heart wants me to jump in excitement, while my brain is telling me to sit my ass down until it's inked. It'd be an awesome start to the new year. My body is ready!

it depends on how well franzen performs imo. if the rumors about holland offering franzen in a trade for rick nash are true, i think he will be willing to buy him out if he doesn't perform. holland would be dumb to pass up the opportunity to get rid of albatross long term contract without any repercussions on a guy who has played like he mentally checked out 2 years ago

Can't wait to see what Brunner does now. Bang or bust. Kind of getting the jitters for training camp and line combos. Woo-hoo

Im glad, but at the same time pissed off. Half the season gone, no Winter Classic, no AllStar-weekend.. The fans should get free passes to NHL Center Ice Btw - what will happen with the WC now? Will it still be Wings Toronto next..? Anyone?

http://espn.go.com/nhl/story/_/id/8817955/nhl-nhlpa-reach-tentative-agreement-source-says ESPN is reporting it, since they are so deaf to hockey, its got to be a good sign that they are saying it.

You can't expect to win medals in this tournament if you make big mistakes like cutting your best d-man

John Shannon ‏@JSportsnet Been told the two sides are still at it in NYC. And it could go a while yet. #NHL#NHLPA Renaud Lavoie ‏@RenLavoieRDS I'll be surprise that a deal happen tonight. I've been told that both parties are too far on some important issues. We'll see.

i believe buy outs can only happen to active players....Savard /Pronger/ Eaves are on long term, therefore disconnected from the cap and on insurance protection. once the are cleared a good bill of health, they would then be put on waivers, or roster space be made for said player. i dont believe they can be released, per union rules of disability. its like being fired while injured. i dont even think that Uwe Krupp got fired for "bad back=dogsled injury". ( lawyered up)

Doesn't Dipietro still have something like 7 or 8 years left on his contract? The islanders could finally get out of yet another awful deal they made. The funny part is they'll still be paying for the Yashin buyout through 2015.
