Cheering injuries is really pathetic. I don't care how bad you think a player is. He's a human being.

Dan Cleary is so useless. Completely useless out there. Scratch him... play Nyquist already.

Coincidence that the Wings are looking much better tonight? The same night that Darren Helm returns to the lineup? I think not....

That's fine. Cheering for him to be injured is stupid. He has a wife and daughter. They are hockey players to us, but a lot more to other people.

I will no longer publicly cheer for Dan Cleary's injuries. My bad dude. Knee jerk reaction... I hate seeing him in a Winged Wheel, but i guess that is overboard.

haha i'll call him whatever he wants if he keeps putting the puck in the net lol, i just hate sounding like an unintelligent fan when talking about him so i'd like to know how he pronounces it haha

Huskins looking good. Would you settle for Girl Love? (Actually middle-aged lady love, but what the heck)

True, big mistake by Kindl to touch him at all... but when he makes light contact with the guys upper body, and his feet somehow fly out from underneath him... theres a whole lot of embellishment going on there to sell it to the refs..

They should just play the whole game 5-4, switching every 2 minutes, that seems to be what the NHL wants.

I was on the Hossa band wagon since the start, but it wasn't that easy of a decision at the time. Hossa was the more known commodity correct, but Franzen was coming off a 34 goal season, after 27 goals. And two brilliant, I mean brilliant back to back playoff performances of well over a PPG. and 25 goals in 39 playoff games. It was a player that the people in the front office saw grow right before their eyes into one of the more dominating playoff performers in recent memory. Franzen was due a raise, he had deserved it, but Hossa was an elite winger that I really wish we put more effort into keeping, but I understand the cap troubles the team had. They wanted to keep their developed playoff beast in Franzen, but they also had a raise for Zetterberg coming up in a year to 6.7 million after playing 2.6 for million, they had to go sign Stuart as well. I wish the wings did sign Hossa to that long term deal, but it wasn't just about Franzen and Hossa.

He plays with heart and energy, it is good to see him rejuvenating the oilers, especially since they have so much young talent that seems to do so little, and he will be the next captain if he keeps energizing the team like that. As long as he doesn't constantly showboat like that (he is very young still, and in the very wise words of yoda "much to learn you still have, my young padawan") I don't see a problem with that, it was his second career goal and it tied up the game with 4.6 seconds left against the reigning stanley cup champs. Can't get much better than that for the kid. What I am upset about though is that he doesn't play for us, he has made his displeasure for canadian players abundantly clear, so he should come to detroit

I thought it was over the top because it wasn't the game-winning goal and he avoided celebrating with his teammates.

    Team next season?

Jarnkrok is making this team out of camp next year. Datsyuk - Zetterberg - Brunner Nyquist - Jarnkrok - Franzen Abdelkader - Helm - Bertuzzi Tatar - Sheahan - Tootoo Eaves EDIT- forgot about Samuelsson...it would be a shame if Tatar didnt get a roster spot because of Samuelsson... Kronwall - (new d man) Smith - Ericcson Lashoff - Quincey Colaiacovo I have a feeling that Filppula will traded for blueline depth.

Okey doke, here's a few observations from last night (both good and bad) which I think bear heavily of the effectiveness of this team. I'm not going to talk about personnel moves because that's purely speculative at this point, and it's also beaten to death. So... 1. Pavel Datsyuk should never EVER play on the wing. Arguably the best playmaking center in the game, and without doubt the best stickhandler in the history of the game, needs to be carrying the puck. Period. 2. After Babs shook up the line combos there was a couple of quick scoring chances, and I generally liked the makeup of the first line after the change. Prior to the first game when the lines were announced, I thought putting Pav,Z, and Brunner was a mistake. No net front presence, two guys that need the puck to be effective, nobody that can power the puck into the zone, or hang onto it against big defensemen. That has born out in reality. From here on out I'd like to see Pav, Brunner, Franzen together and Zetterberg, Flip (on the wing), and Sammy/Bert. Nyquist and Flip should NEVER EVER play on a line together if it can be helped. Watching them overpass last night instead of take it to the net was infuriating. 3. The fourth line is super effective, and once Abby (who's also looking good) gets on it they are going to wreck shop. Expect bigger minutes from these guys in the future and eventually a lot more scoring. Also, Tootoo is awesome as hell. 4. Brian Lashoff, after another safe, effective, and poised game does not come out of this lineup any time soon. This kid's game translates well to the NHL because he's a good decision maker who doesn't try to do too much in terms of generating offense. He plays defense, gets the puck safely to the forwards, and his job is done. I like it, and we need more of it. 5. All in all the defense looked better last night, across the board. Quincey wasn't as bad as the last two games. Everyone played better. But thank god for Jimmy Howard, who's been a hero all three games. 6. Special teams: The PK looked better, but again, thank god for Howard. The PK will continue to improve as Helm, Eaves, and Ericsson get into the lineup/get playing optimally. The PP on the other hand, looks lost. It's as if they believe if they continue to pass it around enough, Lidstrom will magically appear and take the point shot for them. They need a lot more coaching to learn this new system, which is the one thing they haven't had so far this season. As they get a little time to learn it the system will work, but we have to remember that we've got four guys on the first PP who have always run a PP the same way for their whole careers. The change is necessary, but hard won. I like the new look though, with Brunner and Kronwall rotating between the point and the half boards, that movement is going to pay off. Almost did for Brunner against Columbus, had he one timed the puck. Once he learns his shooting angles he'll improve on the PP as well.
