Ok, that's one stat but let's look at the rest of his play... Took a silly penalty, is a minus, has three giveaways and no takeaways and no shots on goal. He has potential but he is not NHL ready verses a solid role player who has a wicked wrister, some speed and is very effective on the PK. Eaves was out of the line up with a serious concussion.....give the brother a minute!

MacDonald is really underrated. I'm not surprised the CGY scouts saw something in him. He's always been starter material. He'll never be great but he's yet another guy who gets wrongly doomed to backup duty because you just can't shake that rep unless you get the chance, but you won't get the chance if you've got the rep.

When you think about how many good goalies were in the league at once in the 90's..... Hasek, Roy, Barasso, Vernon, Richter, Brodeur, Joseph, Belfour, Vanbiesbrouck, Ranford, Fuhr, Potvin, etc. Now we still have Brodeur along with Quick and Lundqvist, but after that, who on the lists in this thread are actually better than Howard seeing as Howard is every bit as good as Price? Howard may not be elite according to the history of the game, but in the league right now, he's between 5 and 7.

I think it's pretty safe to assume that if the puck is within 8' of Pavel, then he has control of it. Doesn't matter who has the puck.

I agree. The thing that stick out the most to me is he is slow. On the fourth line, we need speed and forchecking. His faceoffs are great, but I don't think that makes up for has lack of physicality and speed.

Small sample size but he holds a 71.4% face off percentage right now. Certainly beats the 45.5% win percentage held by the Wings current 4th line center.

I may be in the minority here but I havent been all that impressed with Andersson. For having a big body, he doesnt use it alot. What does he bring to the tabe for this team? I know he is young but he certainly hasnt dazzled. I would prefer Eaves in the line-up

Also, not so much with Vokoun. Howard (very much like Ozzie) is an extremely underrated goaltender. He is incredibly talented and IMO one of the more consistent players on our team. Just like the game against LA, he can bail the team out and carry them to a win if he has to. I'm genuinely curious what would make people happy enough to give the guy a little credit. He does a lot of the same things your "elite" goalies do; plays tons of games, makes great saves, can be counted on...what more does he need, a superstar cap hit? If he needs to make 7mil a year to be considered an "Elite" goalie, then I am happy with our "average" one.

2 goals on 47 shots...most goalies would have let in at least 5 of those shots. Go watch the game tape. The whole Wings team escaped with the squeaker win. They had their svoring chanced too but not as many close calls for almost goals. Howard outperformed the reigning Conn Smythe champ.

Sproul is having a ridiculously good season this year. 36 GP - 18G - 34A - 52P He leads the OHL in scoring by a defenceman despite playing in almost 20 fewer games than the guy in 2nd place. He's already 6'4 and 200lbs at 20 years old...I can't wait to see how he does with the Griffins/Wings.

I skimmed considering the source, and as soon as I saw "Datsyuk" and "Trade Bait" together in the same sentence I loled in displeasure and decided to stop reading. This, as many posted a lot lately, I put under the category of "NHL 13 Scenario" because something this dramatic occurring in the real NHL is an impossibility. And let's cut the "Buyout Franzen" nonsense that's not happening either.
