    Players who showboat after scoring

Datsyuk is the perfect celebrated. Makes guys look stupid and never shows them up. That's why everyone, including his opponents, likes him. He smiles and does a fist pump. That's enough.

I love the showboats. Why try to take excitement out of the game? They want more goals because they want more cellies.

I don't mind a small celebration, I don't expect every guy to skate away like he doesn't care. I can handle when guys go a little bigger with their first goal, buzzer beaters, overtime goals, or highlight reel beautiful goals but I never like dropping to one knee and making a big production of it.

I'll tell you what should happen to Perry. One of the players on Detroit should have engaged him after that incident. But our softness and crappy philosophy prevented anything from being done.

Perry is a punk and do I think if given an opportunity he would kick a goalie in the head he would do it no question. What really pisses me off the most is how nobody even got in his grill after it happened or took a poke at Hiller. This is playoff hockey and the Wings played like pansies last night. Didn't finish their checks and let Perry set up shop in front of Howard. Game 2 had better be much better.

OK, I needed that. I'm laughing out loud. Thanks! Me too. Where else can you lose a big game and still laugh afterward?! Thanks, Karen!!

In general I can't stand it. I understand that guys should be happy when they score, so I understand that I may be viewed as a sour puss for this. I just saw Pascal Dupuis (20 goals this year) score, skate away, go to one knee, and scream as if he had just scored his first career goal. He made it 2-0 in game 1. I thought he may pull a Tyler Kennedy/Evgeni Malkin and jump into the boards. As a Wings fan, I think I may have a little bias since I don't think we've ever really had a guy who acts like that after a goal. Hossa was close to being that, but he never really went over the top. I think a lot of the young guys in the league (my generation) are to "blame" for this. Let's face it: Generation Y loves the spotlight and loves the attention.

I think it's safe to say Hank will be wearing the C until he retires. After that I'd like to see Helm wear the badge for a while

I don't know what game you were watching, but from the end of the 1st period on, this game was Anaheim outplaying Detroit to the point where the goal margin is not indicative of anything but Howard's brilliance in net. There is plenty of time to swing it though, but there has to be a complete attitude change from the players. They aren't the more-talented team, which means they have to outwork Anaheim on every puck battle, down low and along the boards. Given how wildly inconsistent this team has been this year, I'm sure we'll see it at some point in the next few games, but it won't last longer than a game or two, and there is no guarantee they'll win one of the games where they do show up.

Really? You mean to tell me someone can't have opinion that other's might not agree with? If I had the video, Hiller had a worse dive in that game.

    Corey Perry Knee/Kick to Howard

Not blatantly intentional, so no fine or suspension, but it would be nice if from here on out Tootoo looked at him like he was dessert and threw him off his game. If he has occasion to beat him, great, but just having Perry's head on a swivel is good enough for me and could prove advantageous.

    Corey Perry Knee/Kick to Howard

Reckless play by Perry for sure, glad they called a penalty on it but they could just as easily have called nothing. I doubt anything else will come of it, except maybe a few extra whacks with the goalstick next time Perry gets close to the crease. Also, it didn't look like Howard was trying to embellish anything, he got rocked across the chin with a knee from a pretty big guy who didn't make any effort to avoid contact, looks like a legitimate case of reflexes to me.

    Corey Perry Knee/Kick to Howard

I don't think Howard was trying to sell it - I think that anyone getting hit in the head is going to instinctively jerk away from the contact. Howie is getting the benefit of any doubt from me in this instance.

I thought so at first too, but there was one particular angle that NBC showed that made me cringe. It showed the skate dragging across the shoulder and then connecting with Howie's mask, knocking it sideways. My instinct would be to flop away from that too. I pretty much agree with everyone here-clear penalty, time served. I'm not a Perry fan, but what he did wasn't suspension or fine worthy. Although I would love to see him have to eat a bag of flaming dog poo, I will settle for watching the Wings (hopefully) beat the snot out of the Ducks.

    Corey Perry Knee/Kick to Howard

No matter how you put it, Perry kicked Howard in the face. Do I think he did it on purpose? No, but he didn't try to avoid it either. That could have been A LOT worse. Watch his skate drag across his shoulder and then catch him in the mask. Howard could have been severely hurt on that play. It's the same situation when they call the big goalie interference penalties/suspensions, he may not have done it on purpose and had some defense in his way, but the onus is on the player to avoid the contact. The goalie is helpless. I don't think a suspension is coming or warranted.

    Pasha's Legacy

Don't retire his number, but do give him the credit he deserves...which is to say, Pavel Datsyuk is the best puckhandler in the history of the National Hockey League. Period. The only defenseman who could have conceivably defended him with any sort of regularity was on his team.
