    Detroits record vs East last 6 years: 07-08= 7-2-1 08-09= 12-5-1 09-10= 9-6-3 10-11= 12-4-2 11-12= 10-7-1 12-13= N/A Total Record= 50-24-8 That just happens to be 82 games, and in the cap world 50 wins over a full season usually gets you a division title.

So what if they have fighters? Who is going to fight them? As for being tough, that doesn't automatically override skill. People need to stop worrying. They probably won't even play their goons against us because we aren't a cheap shot team. And you can't stop Chara from doing what he does. People need to stop worrying. The Wings have played and beaten tough teams before

I'm sorry, but if the stats don't tell the "story", what does? This is beginning to enter the bizzaro world class of arguments.

    22 Seasons of Domination

Have you ever wondered just how dominant the Red Wings have been in the last 22 seasons? The numbers don't lie:

Because Lindros didn't want to play for Quebec. Shi** happens. Of course he didn't know that Roy would have gotten traded to the Avs and whoever else. Not really the point. Lindros was a whiner. Can't remember really but someone said that Lindros's first concussion came from Rod Brind'Amour after he caught Lindros screwing his wife. Then Brind'Amour asked for a trade and got traded to the Hurricanes Rod Brind'Amour ended up winning the cup and rightfully so. SCREW LINDROS SCUMBAG I hope Lindros never makes the HOF. Definition of a classless act if there ever was one on and off the ice. Douchebag

I think some people overreact about going to the east. We have done very well against teams in the east over the last 15 seasons. Boston will play us tough but I think we will still hold our own. By no means we will cake walk to the conference finals but I don't expect to be pushed around. I like the current roster going into next season. I wouldn't mind adding a defenseman but I don't see any reason going after some knuckle head who will run up penalty minutes.

Clearly Datsyuk should have retired because he is going to be so 'manhandled'.

    Question about Buying out Samuelsson

Teams can take RFAs to arbitration only once. It would be unwise to waste that. Thanks so much for your input, but next time please direct it to my complaints box.

Both are centers and very strong ones at that, so I don't see Helm or Andersson moving to the wing. Emmerton is quite expendable. His spot is entirely contingent on Helm's back.

    Players We've Traded Away

Didn't Djoos score 4-5 goals IN ONE GAME against the North Stars once? I loved it when Primeau got traded. LOVED it. I guess I never got over the fact that we didn't take Jagr because of Petr Klima's troubles. When I think of Primeau on the ice, he's butt is wet from falling down so often trying to unsuccessfully split the defense. Off the ice, I can't forget the grown man COLLECTED MICKEY MOUSE FIGURINES. Hated seeing Chiasson go too. I still fondly can hear, "Chaisson with a drive!" coming over my radio.

He's not if both guys are healthy. Helm and Andersson above him, Ferraro and Sheahan below him... "EmDog" would appear to be one of the certain odd men out on this roster.

Niedermayer's playoff beard alone deserves it's place in the HHoF... Great to see Shanny and Cheli get in too. Very deserving class this year.

2 guys out of 720 NHL players? Didn't someone already refute this idea with the stats and the lead in hits and things was minimal from the east over the west. How well did Lucic/Chara work against the Hawks?

    Trade/Buyout thread

Just because there hasn't been anything happening the past few days, I decided to come up with a ridiculous series of moves that will never happen but aren't as far fetched as other things that have happened since July 1st. 1. Trade Samuelsson to NYI for a 7th round pick. (With $22 Million in Cap Space, a once 30 goal scorer with one year left at $3 million isn't the worst gamble) 2. Trade Kyle Quincey, Brendan Smith, Teemo Pulkinen and a 1st round pick for Keith Yandle. (I can hear the groans already, but hear me out - Kyle Quincey is useless and makes $3.7 million, Brendan Smith is certainly going to make ATLEAST $1.5 Mllion next season, which already covers Yandle's cap hit. Teemu Pulkinen is another undersized winger, which we now have an abundance of as an Eastern conference team. The first round pick is going to be 25+ and we have a solid group of prospects already. So the real trade comes down to Brendan Smith vs Keith Yandle... We know who the better player is, and Yandle is only 2.5 years older with a reasonable cap hit. I have always felt our problem last season was offence from our defence, and now we solve that. Imagine what this group of forwards can do when they don't have to spend 25 seconds of each shift in there own zone. 3. Sign RFA'S 4. Sign Ron Hainsey as our 6th D Man. 5. Trade TooToo for whatever you can. Zetterberg - Datsyuk - Abdelkader Franzen - Weiss - Alfredsson Nyquist - Helm - Tatar Miller - Andersson - Eaves (Emmerton, Bertuzzi) Yandle. - Dekeyser Kronwall - Ericsson Kindl - Hainsey (Lashoff) Howard Gustavsson And There's your 23 man roster.

who's on their way out of Detroit

Why is everyone so sure Sammy isn't legitimately hurt? This is the same guy who was hurt for 98% of last season; is it so hard to believe he may still be injured? I know it was reported he was ready to go near the end of our playoff run, but many guys play hurt at that time of year. There's also the possibility that he may have re-aggravated his injury somewhere along the line. Not trying to defend the guy, I want him off this roster as much as anyone, but to go as far as say we should send him down to Toledo is ridiculous. Also, how many of us wouldn't try pulling the same stunt if he isn't indeed still injured? He claims injury, and gets his full $3M, or he gets bought out and gets $2M... and before anyone says $2M plus the chance at another contract with another team, keep in mind, GMs likely aren’t lining up to sign a guy who missed all but 9 games (including playoffs) last year.

    is anyone happy right now?

Clarkson? The guy who is a bad skater, a mediocre passer, undisciplined, poor at defense, terrible at blocking shots, and generally possessed of an indifferent hockey mind would have made this team a Cup contender? I can't help but think that you simply looked under 2011-2012, saw "30 goals," and assumed that he was a premiere power forward. Devils fans would laugh at that description. I've been on HF all day, and I haven't seen a single one who believes that he was worth anywhere near the contract he got.
