If I can accept red home uni's then I can accept the new format. Damn, I miss home whites.

Anyone remember how Lilja ended up Lidstrom's partner in the 2006 playoffs? I don't think Schneider was injured. I just know Lidstrom held Lilja back and that pairing was a disaster in the postseason.

    Brunner Contract Talks

3 thoughts on that article. If Brunner is patient I think he can get close to what he wants on a short term deal once teams have more time to evaluate what they have internally. Cap space isn't an issue for the Wings. They can go over cap until the end of camp and even after they sign Andersson and Nyquist they'll be OK. I don't think they re-sign Cleary unless they can swing a deal that sends out Samuelsson and Tootoo or Eaves.

    Each NHL Team's Mount Rushmore

That's what I was thinking when i mentioned LaFontaine for Buffalo/NYI. Him and Mogilny were insane together. Especially in NHL games on Sega Now they can't even get grazed by a guy without playing dead. Hang that on the wall for goalies to see.

    Brunner Contract Talks

Fabian Brunnstrom had a higher goals-per-game average than Brunner in his own rookie season, and he did it without Datsyuk or Zetterberg. He was in the AHL the next season. So no, we don't know what he can do. Nothing is certain, especially for late entries into the NHL.

    Each NHL Team's Mount Rushmore

I would respectfully disagree with Andreychuk as the 4th choice in Buffalo. Now to ME as a Mt. Rushmore and the face of the franchise forever is was Waterford's Own Patty La-la-la-la-la-la-la LaFontaine. I'd put him on for sure.

Nyquist, Tatar, Jurco, Jarnkrok, Sheahan, Pulk and the rest of their prospects are the long term solution.

    Schedule Release?

If you're referring to my comments on Florida's division placement, I don't recall saying it was the end of the world. But they definitely got screwed. Out west it's an inevitability that teams will have long travel. In the east that's less the case. The Florida teams closest division rival is further away than at least 5 or 6 teams in other divisions. Doesn't this map seem a little odd?

I'd prefer Sawchuk over Lindsey, just because I want to see this pic carved into 200 ft. of stone. Totally Badass!!!!!

I didn't read it as a funny comment. I read it as a serious valid point and a real consideration, as well as a poignant commentary on the state of the infrastructure over there, including significant aspects such as emergency medical preparedness at rinks, player medical coverage in general, etc. Especially coming from F Michael; dude is usually spot on with his insights.

My hubby says it's the color of the belly of a catfish. As he loves to fish, I'll take his word for it. It is appropriate, I suppose, since a) They throw catfish on the ice down there, and b) One is a scum-sucking bottom feeder, and the other is a fish.

    Brunner Contract Talks

"Emdog," which has to be the dumbest nickname I've ever seen, is on the roster, it's going to be as an extra forward unless Helm can't go. I know there's been some noise about the Wings moving Samuelsson or Tootoo, but they don't have to. Once they shift Alfredsson's bonus money to next year's cap, they can afford to waive both Emmerton and Eaves, eat the little bit of cap space that they'll get hit with for it, and still be over $1mil under the cap.
