it's the weight of the C that has caused Thornton to underperform.

The San Jose Sharks unveiled their new home and away uniforms today. And if you ask me, they look like cheap practice jerseys. Gone are the shoulder caps, and the stripes around the waist. According to their website... That's right, folks. The Sharks have been classic under-performers because those jerseys just weighed too darn much. So they're using practice jerseys from here on out because that will take them to the next level...

Maybe all that jersey weight was the cause of them falling down all this time?

IMHO, Kenny has done a masterful job this offseason with his signings of Alfredsson, Weiss, and getting Goose and Andersson at great cap hits. Now we just need to see how he trims the roster. I've got a good feeling this season. I also think Nyquist is going to have a breakout year.

New enemies, whom do you fear the most?

As the Leafs handily proved last season, having goons and racking up the hits doesn't necessarily accomplish anything. And for goodness' sake, enough with the size thing. It has been mentioned repeatedly that Clarkson does not add size, being exactly the NHL average in that category. You seem to have this incorrect image of him as a Milan Lucic clone. Bolland is actually of below average size, so the addition of the two of them has not made the Leafs a bigger team. As for the supposed energy line you've made reference to, it isn't an energy line. The guys you've named as part of it are players who fight and who hit a lot, whose talents pretty much end there, and who, with their lack of defensive acumen, will get shown the proverbial door by any line with a modicum of offensive potency. Just how little Orr and McLaren bring to actual hockey gameplay is reflected in their ice time last season: an average of 6:23 and 5:09 of ice time per game, respectively, good for the bottom two spots on the team in that category. As for the Bruins, the Wings have certainly had no problems with them in the recent past. More, the Bruins have become weaker with the subtractions of Horton and Ference, both of whom played an important role on that team over the past several seasons. As for Chara, good luck making him tired; he's one of the best-conditioned athletes in the NHL. And playing Datsyuk and Zetterberg against him will not exactly be a strategy, given that Julien will be matching him up against them anyway. Whatever the case, he's a very good defenseman but not a game changer. I'm not sure why you would fear Steve MacIntyre. He has played all of 13 games over the past two seasons for the precise reason that he is worthless at the NHL level.

    Keep Tootoo, Drop Cleary

Does this mean he can fight to a draw with one hand tied behind his back? I'd rather have Toots for the fighting, thanks. I like E, and I'm glad he can and will throw down when needed, but it's always good to have a specialist on call.

Cleary won't be getting an extension. I wish he'd sign someplace else already.

    Keep Tootoo, Drop Cleary

Given that Tootoo is currently on the roster & Cleary is not, this thread is as relevant as a "Keep Tootoo, Drop Crosby" thread would be. And given that Kenny will already have a tough enough time trimming the roster by the two forwards he has to drop just to get to the roster limit, Cleary showing back up in a WIngs jersey is extremely unlikely unless he buys a ticket to a game.

    Keep Tootoo, Drop Cleary

Tootoo did exactly what he was asked of last season, yet the Wings don't appear interested in his services anymore. Don't know what more Holland was expecting from him.

On the bright side, I don't see any ugly vertical stripes that are predominating (ruining) NHL jerseys right now.

Well if you take off something from a Jersey it will look different. The point is, there isn't anything on those Sharks jerseys making them stand out from only ones used for practise. Somehow this jersey thing has gotten out of hand the Stars had a perfect one some years and yet they have decided to make it worse every year. If it'snot broken don't fix it, why is that so hard to understand for some nhl teams? The Wings jersey is fine, the colors are grisp and sharp, it's clean and not overloaded.

Their original jerseys are still their best. Adding black and orange to it was stupid. If it ain't broke (not referring to the stick in the logo) don't fix it.

I love how everyone hates on these jerseys for being so plain... our jerseys are even more plain... take the stripe off the arm on the wings jerseys and you basically have the wings practice jerseys

They really look like practise jersey, very bland and kina meh. I thought the old ones were a lot better

Hahaha - what idiots. I thought the orange piping on the numbers and the shoulder caps looked really good. This is definitely a step backwards. The Oilers and Leafs learned that stripes at the bottom of the jerseys were necessary a couple of years ago - seems like San Jose wasn't paying attention. Brutal.

I remember back on the day my mother asked me what name I wanted on my jersey.....are you ready for this???? #14 - Miroslav Frycer..... WTF was I thinking!!!! A whole 23 games played for Detroit....ugh!

Personally, I'd hold off on buying a Nyquist jersey till after this current contract ends. This is definitely a "prove it" kind of deal. And if he proves it, then buy his jersey. Otherwise, could be a little risky dropping $200+ on a player that's not quite fully proven yet.

Here's the "important" contract extension; from 25/08/2013: Trade the current captain and his bloated contract and have "Jeffrey" Lupul take his spot.
