    ESPN Ultimate Smuggler

Just wanted to share an article that I was involved in with espn magazine. I was contacted by PM on this forum from a writer at the espn magazine. She had found an entry I had wrote about smuggling an octopus in the Joe and tossing it. So I did a phone interview and even shot a couple pictures with a photographer and this is the end result. http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/story/_/id/9677354/detroit-red-wings-fan-best-smuggling-goods-stadiums-espn-magazine That Is the mobile version and the real article is in the newest issue that just released. I did wanna give some credit to everyone that runs the site because if they didn't run such a legit website I probably wouldn't have been involved in this. LGW!

So it took how many seasons for the league to take a really unique and cool event and completely make it run of the mill?

Perry, while bigger than Datsyuk, is hardly a comparison to John Scott dropping the gloves on a faceoff to go after Kessel in a preseason game. Perry is not a very good fighter for starters, while Scott is a straightup goon. Perry is also a top line player squaring off with another top line player. And it was still a bush league move when he went after Dats. There is no earthly reason why Kessel should've dropped the gloves with Scott there.

Tatar will definitely probably be on the team.

Holy heck what craziness for a preseason game. Good on Kessel. Scott is literally a giant goon and deserves a a BC two-hander for going after Kessel. This wasn't an all out scrum on the ice where they ended up paired off. He jumped him on the faceoff. It's not like Kessel was giving him a facewash and acting like wanted to go. There is no circumstance where someone like Phil Kessel should drop the gloves with John Scott, especially off a faceoff in a meaningless preseason game. Phil Kessel 6' 200 lbs. John Scott 6'8" 270 lbs. Zetterberg isn't afraid to jaw and lay the lumber on guys. Not a two hander like that but think of how he plays against Crosby and Toews. If some goon the size of Scott had dropped the gloves and gone after Zetterberg I'm guessing there'd be a different perspective on what happened. And what spear do people keep talking about? I see Kessel pushing Scott's hip at the end of the scrum, but I didn't see anything close to a spear. Welcome to Toronto Bernier. Nice job in the fight against Miller.

    Wings to Keep Tootoo?

Just happened to catch this little nugget a few min ago. Apparently, Tootoo might miss the rest of preseason with a minor shoulder injury. But according to Ken Holland, he will be ready to go for game 1 of the regular season. So it looks like Tootoo won't be cut or traded before the season starts afterall. For me, this is great news. Personally, I love what he brings to the table. And considering the general style of play in the east, Tootoo is exactly what this team needs on their 4th line. That's not to say he couldn't be traded near the trade-deadline. But for now, I'm happy we'll be starting the season with that little firecracker. http://www.rotoworld.com/player/nhl/1556

Nope, we need a giant image of Dan Cleary at center ice now. That will sure intimidate the East!

SHE should be the one suing... "They said I effed WHO?" "Yeah, that Brian Burke." "Get my lawyers on the phone STAT!"

Setting aside what I consider to be the lunacy (and irony) of getting an unsportsmanlike penalty for removing your helmet before a fight when I consider it the gentlemanly thing to do, NJ and New York have figured out a way around it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CONJgZjVOh8

    Paul Ranger's Shootout Attempt(?).

Pretty sure the goal wouldn't be allowed anyway, as per rule 49.2: A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks any equipment (stick, glove, helmet, etc.) at the puck, including kicking the blade of his own stick, causing the puck to cross the goal line. Asked about the play after the game, Enroth said his initial reaction was that he felt Ranger was trying to embarrass him by showboating a bit but given time to think about it, it's not a big deal. I mean, it's a pre-season shootout game... why should anyone actually be upset about this?

    Paul Ranger's Shootout Attempt(?).

Well! You, sir, may not see the harm in it, but suppose some impressionable tot out there in tvland had seen this and decided to emulate it but, not being a highly trained professional, he had bent over too far causing his wee little shirt hem to rise above his wee little padding causing his jersey to tuck into his pads. Why, the innocent little tyke would have a tucked jersey, and we know that the league has declared this to be dangerous as well as unsightly. This man must be severely punished! It's all fun and games until someone loses a yambag. Think, sir, of the children!

    Paul Ranger's Shootout Attempt(?).

Anyone who's upset about this, or even anyone who can understand why someone would be upset over this, is ridiculous. It was a hundred-round preseason shootout between the Leafs and Sabres, and I can barely remember the names of the goalie and guy who did it. Carlyle was smiling and laughing. Rolston was having fun with it. People are making it sound like the guy threw his skate at the net or something. Hundred-round shootout in a preseason game. Lighten up. Hockey's allowed to be fun every now and then. And another thing: everyone's talking about it. I mean, beyond just hockey fans. I say that's good for the game.

    Wings to Keep Tootoo?

You never know. It very well could be to pump up his trade value by showing that Detroit have publicly said they will keep Tootoo. I hope it's not the trade value boost, as I'm looking forward him to being on our roster all year!

    Wings to Keep Tootoo?

Glad I don't have to change my signature. I want Tootoo as a fourth line regular. We will have plenty of skill guys to rotate in and out. We only have a handful of grinders and Tootoo will have a role every game in the East.

    Wings to Keep Tootoo?

<Doing a kind of wiggly happy dance> I'm a happy girl now. If the boys stick to the injury schedule, we'll be able to work everyone in with no trades.
