Bozak throwing his stick up and having a point shot hit it is extra effort, but Abby driving the net hard to tie the game isn't? The Red Wings loss today had nothing to do with compete level. That was the best 60 minute performance they have put together in awhile.

I thought Howard played pretty damn good during the game, just not during the shootout. I don't give the shootout a whole lot of weight in regards to overall performance though. Also, I thought Tatar was hands down the best player on the ice for either team.....just not during the shootout.

Are people really bashing Howard? He was Detroit's MVP for sure... made a bunch of good saves and didn't have much of a chance on either goal

Am I the only one pleased with this game? Yes, a win would have been optimal, but the only thing that would have made it better would have been being there. The Wings played a great game, and so did the Leafs. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The crowd was great, it was good hockey going back to its roots. Even the officiating for the most part was good. Whether the whistles were swallowed or frozen, no matter. They played. The game rocked. The shootout must die, but I have yet to watch a single shootout.

Yeah thats not true at all. The correct thing to say was he sucked in the shootout. The first 65 minutes he was strong.

Yes Dats was clearly invisible. Especially since he was the one who put the first chance for Cleary on a platter out front which Cleary flubbed. As well as being the only Wing who could consistently carry the puck into the Leafs zone while maintaining control and setting up the offense. Scored the only wings goal in the shootout. Yes I agree totally invisible.

I gotta admit, I thought the alumni game would be sorta fun to watch but not that big of a deal. But I found myself smiling the whole time, especially seeing Stevie out there with Fedorov and Shanny. Dats and Z are great, but those are the guys I grew up watching. Yzerman especially.

he pooped himself in the shootout. the winning goal was a flubbed shot and it still went in so pretty much anything directed at the goal was going to go in. i just have no sympathy for howard after that nashville game. gus has been the better goalie all year no reason why howard deserves to be in the net.

Howard is more of a proven commodity than Bishop. Bishop has had a strong 4 months to coincide with Howards slump. Bishop hasn't proven that whats hes doing now isnt more than a hot streak. Howard has proven to be able to carry a team. If s*** hits the fan for team USA they want someone whos proven he can take a team on his back over a guy whos really only playing consistently strong hockey for the first time in his career.

I don't think bishop should... Howard isn't just going for his performance this year, they also pick for the future years and the experience, bishop has player what 3-4 months of good hockey, Howard 3 years... Miller won't be around next year which could leave a tandem of Howard and Quick which I believe they are confident in when both are at the top of their game... Bishop hasn't even played playoffs has he, and people think he is ready for the drive of the Olympics?

Right. And they're all garbage. It's 15 degrees out and snowing, but Cleary is somehow held to a higher standard than other forwards on this team? Datsyuk, Tatar, Zetterberg, and Nyquist have all had great chances they didn't bury either. And they have a lot better hands than Cleary. It's hilarious that even when half the team is invisible out there, Cleary gets flack for playing well and getting scoring chances. If it were anyone else people would be talking about how he's been buzzing today and hopefully will bury one.
