I have honestly never been more disappointed/unexcited for the Wings than this off-season.

As a moderator here, I'm just glad the Wings didn't announce the re-signing of Quincey and Cleary on the same day.

This is actually very sad because instead of being hated vehemently, Cleary should be celebrated for the hard-nosed player he used to be. But with this latest move Holland has turned him into a persona non grata.

The whole Modano situation could've played out completely differently if not for a freak injury. It's silly that people knock it given what happened. That one ought to be disqualified if you ask me. What kills me is that once the guy was healthy, he wasn't so bad for us. I was actually surprised we bought him out given our lack of depth on defense and that once healthy, he played relatively well, considering he was cheap and coming off of injury. At the very least, it didn't seem like he was the first salary problem that needed addressing, that's for damn sure.

Good on him. Like I said, I don't like this signing but I sure don't blame Cleary for wanting to come back and play for the Red Wings. And he is one of the toughest and most fearless players on the team. The ice packs are from years of going to the parts of the ice Franzen is scared to.

Hey, I guess they're right. Senior citizens although slow, and dangerous behind the wheel, can still serve a purpose!

it is a big deal. not having nyquist last season cost the wings points in the standings early on. that could have been the difference between playing against boston or against a more favorable team like the penguins come playoff time. every single point matters

I find it quite disgusting as a Red Wings fan that, the GM of my team. told an entire fanbase, f*** trying to win a Stanley cup and putting the best team on the ice, loyalty to a broke down fringe player is more important? The entire premise of this mans job is to try and put the best roster together in order to win a cup. He told everyone today, that is not his priority? How the f***?

So all in all a pretty good off-season so far right guys? Wouldn't be surprised if Dekeyser and Tatar don't want to re-sign with us. Absolutely ridiculous. At what point is Holland held accountable though?

He wasn't particularly loyal to Schneider who he let leave. Or Draper/ Maltby/ or Ozzy who all wanted to keep playing but were forced into retirement because Holland didn't want them back. I'm sure there have been others but I neither want to remember nor research it.

You people are all way too serous about this. Take a step back from your keyboard and breath. The positive of this is it a 1 year deal we have a ton of cap space and looks like no way of using it. If he performs like he has prior to the last couple of years you will all be in love with this move come season end. He is a veteran player who can be trusted by the coach and knows the system, you are all very well aware of how fragile this team is so veteran leadership and depth at this price is a no brainer even if he does not play a game. As for the GM I would like to see how some of the posters on this site would be able to pull off the NHL 2014 trades that some of you so desperately want. I can't imagine that it's that easy or you'd be a GM in this league by now. Life long wings fan here who is a realistic person. Chill out relax and enjoy the show!!!!
