Just got the stream from reddit going before the second. Not surprised to hear the comments about Pitt announcers. They have sucked hard since Mike Lange was replaced. Thanks for the updates.

Say what you will but the announcers have been awful. Pen's announcers are known to be awful not by just us "bias" wings fans.

pens announcers never cease to amaze me at how awful they are year in and year out. jumping to conclusions on a hit before even seeing a replay, which btw showed that the pens player lost his balance

I think it is a little too simplistic to look at Bowman getting Yzerman to focus on defense and that resulting in a drop in Yzerman's offensive production. My honest opinion is that I don't think his production was impacted too significantly from his attention to the defensive end. A lot of people might say that if you play great defense, it will give you more time with the puck to play offense. I think Yzerman played in a unique era within the history of the game. A good part of his prime was during the highest scoring era in league history and his increased age came during the lowest scoring era in league history....which made his drop in production look more significant.

Nobody thought datsyuk zetterberg or lidstrom would be stars when we got them , or Franzen would be a 30 goal scorer and playoff performer(even though he hasn't been great of late) I'm sure we go some forwards that will/can turn out to be stars Mantha comes to mind obviously ... Nyquist if he continues his tear ... I see a lot of guys with tons of potential upfront ,not all will make it , some might need to get traded but I can't remember a time we had prospects this good and deep in our system Star potential goalie in mrazek .... I'm pretty excited, I'll be there in person with my son who will be attending his very first Red Wings game. Hopefully won't have to deal with too much heckling from the other fans, but its preseason, so it should be fine.

Those D pairings are tantalizing... I'm really excited to see how the young guns perform.

I would love to see Callahan steal Miller's spot. More grit and possibly also better scoring touch.
