We need a miracle to make the playoffs because we have the same team as last year? We made the playoffs last year and the division looks about the same. There's one thing being realistic, but being completely negative about everything is just annoying.

The defense stinks as it is and you want to get rid of Ericsson? The most reliable player the Wings have defensively and best penalty killer. Quincey isn't going to get traded -- they could have just not signed him to that absurd contract if they didn't want him around. I'm all for upgrading the defense using the surplus of prospects if the right deal is there. Trading E though, at this time, would be a huge loss. Ericsson is a much better d-man than Quincey.

Gonna be a sad day for me if Callahan gets claimed. I've followed his progress since the day he was drafted and have been waiting for the day that seemed inevitable in that he would get a regular spot on the Wings team. I think choosing someone based on a few incredibly crappy exhibition games is a flawed process, but what do I know. Not like Detroit has made mistakes in choosing it's roster in recent years At least we've got Cleary on the roster That'll be worth it if Mitch gets claimed. Something to laugh at.

Weird to see Weiss on the outside looking in, but maybe Babcock just doesn't like what he's seen during the preseason. On the flip side, I am so stoked about those defensive pairings. Been waiting to see DeKeyser-Smith for awhile. I really hope they gel.

Babs clearly has a problem with Weiss. He put him with AHLers in preseason and now won't let him into the lineup to start the season (probably because he didn't perform in preseason). Give the guy a chance to impress you.

Crazy. A couple of thoughts: 1. The pairings of Kronwall - Ericsson DeKeyser - Smith Quincey - Ouelett are about as great as anyone could hope for right now. 2. On a team that has at least 6 guys that can play up the middle, there is a glaring need for a second line guy. Sadly, it's looking like it might not be Weiss. but it sure as hell shouldn't be Helm either.

I don't think we can predict how the teams will perform based on the preseason games. They don't play the lines they play in regular season, the top players don't bring their A-game, etc. . We will have to wait for the regular season and even into that it will take between 10 and 20 games to say for sure what this team is capable of. Therefore I don't have many expectations from the preseason. One of the few things that looked significantly better than last season was our PP. It was much more dynamic in my opinion. And D-Prospects were very good, I'm excited to see how Jensen will perform on regular NHL-Level. But as said above, I take everything with a big grain of salt.

No, the trade was about sacrificing a potential future NHLer for a much higher chance of getting into the playoffs, and it worked. At the time we were missing Z, D, Helm, and Weiss and we needed someone to come in and play first line center. If he he turns out to be a superstar, one can argue we lost the trade. If he ends up being a fringe NHL player, then we win the trade. Only time will tell, right now its way to early.

Roman Josi is a decent defenseman and a shot blocking machine but he's yet another lefty and for that reason I would say no thanks. Unless of course, and I think this goes for pretty much any potential trade, if Kindl were going the other way. Either way, I don't think a trade is going to happen and I'm quite okay with that as long as we see at least one of the kids up within the next month or so...

I would be happy with Roman Josi, great player on a tremendous cap hit, only downside is he isn't physical at all and I'm not sure if he could run the powerplay. But he had offensive upside Maybe our favorite Predsfan can talk about his availability?

This is my take on it. If you are going into it expecting it to be a true console MMO like World of Warcraft, you will likely be disappointed because the content just isn't there. If you approach it like a shooter with RPG elements that has co-op play and competitive multiplayer, I feel like it shines in both areas of the game. to get certain gear and equipment, you must participate in online modes like Strike and Cruicible, which is like mini-raids and online deathmatch/objective based gameplay. Each mode gives you unique rewards and access to things that only those modes offer. There is a lot to do, a long way to progress up to level 30 if you want to dedicate the time, and it really shines cooperatively. I wouldn't be enjoying it if I was attempting to go at it alone, I don't think Strikes or Raids are really possible to finish single player as they are extremely difficult as it is doing them cooperatively, but you at least have the team mates to revive you and continue the battle. I would say go for it, because I like it a lot personally, and I think a lot of the negative reviews from people come from those who thought it was going to be a lot more and larger than what it turned out to be.

Callahan won't get claimed. He had one fluke season where a bunch of pucks went in for him in the AHL. He's not a scorer, he's not fast, he's not big, he's a projected 4th line agitator. He also didn't look at all like an NHL player in the preseason. Neither did Ferraro.

Of those prospects I think they made the right call. Jensen and Oulette both consistently outplayed almost half out defensive NHL roster, and both provided much needed offense from the blue line. Callahan could have provided some much-needed sand paper from the bottom six, but overall Nestrasil has the potential to be a bigger difference-maker, both now and especially a couple years down the road. That said, there's no guarantee that Callahan even gets picked up off waivers, so there may be hope still that he sticks with the organization.

I will raise my hand and admit I didn't know sweet fa about Jensen really until camp and preseason. Good for him. But really, I thought our main guys were the big 4 (Ouellet, Marchenko, Sproul, Backman) and everyone after that was either nowhere near ready or just an afterthought. Would really love the Wings to be gutsy and just go with Ouellet or Jensen to start the year with the Wings.

I actually feel a little bit for Brunner. He's obviously not a fourth line player, but the Devils have acquired a ton of top 9 wingers, so it's probably a struggle to get ice time. Between Ryder, Ruutu, Jagr, Clowe, Cammalleri, Havlat, there probably isn't a lot of ice time for Damien. Hence he's rumored to be on the block. The kid's made a bad decision or two in his time in North America, but he does have the talent to score goals if put in the right situation. I'd like to see him land on his feet.
