Indeed. We all have. 7 years in the making. That's what I said (just more succinctly). It was a great time in our lives. Another strategy is for a player to arch his back and lay over the puck on a delayed penalty, preventing either team from touching it and running out the period (or in the 3rd, the game).

Chelios is good enough to play for this defense.

While I agree its probably time to give up on Phoenix, or Arizona, or whatever, I do think its worth mentioning that it wasn't all that long ago that Mike Illitch had to give away cars to get people into seats at Joe Louis arena.

LOL why do you always attack people who have an opinion different than yours? Scotty Bowman wasn't playing Duchesne, Fischer, or Dandenault 5 minutes a night. Babcock didn't play Ericsson, Lebda, or Chelios 5 minutes a night.

Didn't you know!! Every great coach in history came out of the womb with NHL coaching experience and never had to get behind the bench as a rookie. "We all got a break and started somewhere"...that's not true for great coaches though. It's a genetically tested for trait. "Learning the ropes"...nah, not great coaches...these guys were SURE THINGS. Duh!!

In the pantheon of bad ideas in hockey, this isn't even really all that big of a deal. This guy's job is, in part, to market the NHL. Given his relative position, he's probably good at that. So he pitched an idea that he thought would do the trick. Nobody was interested, and the idea died. No harm, no foul. It's not like he's on an anti-beard, or anti-tradition, crusade. He was thinking like a sports TV executive...which he is. I mean, this is far less threatening than the stupid "glowing puck". That was truly a stinker of a marketing ploy.

Crosby caliber "beards" should definitely be banned

What's to stop Chelios from being a great coach?

I understand the "gentlemen" agreement. After Cleary's performance last season, it's quite obvious that this guy just wants another paycheck and doesn't care about the development of the team. There is no way that he could contribute better than the players that are out of waiver options. Enough is enough.

I've made some of my most genuine friends chirping at each other like this, but there is always that guy/girl who didn't understand that this wasnt a serious thing and try to get rowdy about it.I once went to a Chicago/Detroit game when my AAA team was in town for a tournament, the blaxkhawks werent really relevant yet, but I jokingly made fun of a girl I found attractive and I ended up becoming friends with her dad. Who chirped me literally on the smallest things, when we accidentally iced a puck, or blew an edge for example. I've also been witness to a Pittsburgh fan, a grown man, spitting beer at my twelve year old goalie. I don't like the fact that the soldier has had problems selling his tickets, or anyone for that matter. But I also understand that tampa isn't Chicago, or Minny, and needs to do everything they can to grow the game in the area... So I'm conflicted, which ultimately means I don't care enough either way.
