    Tj oshie to washington

Am I the only one who doesn't think oshie is that great? Brouwer is bigger puts up more goals and has a smaller cap hit. I wouldn't trade Abby for oshie sorry.

He played with heart and a size much bigger than his frame, I'll give him that, I just think he could have handled the Team Canada deal better. He turned his back on his team and ironically it was Tampa that ended his last game.

"@frank_seravalli: Marty St. Louis has announced his retirement at the age of 40. The 2004 Hart Trophy winner had 52 points in 74 games last season. #TSN" "@frank_seravalli: St. Louis interested in playing nxt season but wanted to be close to family in Connecticut. Few options. He's earned approx. $70M since '98." From undrafted to an outstanding career, congrats Marty!

One of my problems with Kindl is that for him to look decent he has to play really sheltered minutes. Last time I looked it up he got the most offensive zone starts of any defenseman in the league. He may come out of the game smelling like a rose but it stretches our thin blueline even thinner, and they end up making gaffes.

I have mixed feelings about Kindl. He'll make a bonehead turnover then come back and score 2 goals or set up a nifty play. As for Smith I think he's improved greatly and actually thought he was our best defenseman during that piss poor Boston series. Defensemen get a little more room for error with me. Lidstrom was an anomaly and to say basing our blueliners on him is being unfair would be an understatement. Love Green or hate him we have the last defenseman to break 30 goals wearing the Winged Wheel now.

I can't imagine a word where one euro twin is in the rafter without the other. Both are very special players and have been equally important to this team for many years. The disney.com love is strong

I get your argument but saying he's 3rd in playoff points and played 100 games less than #2. Who is a defenseman is odd, defenseman aren't supposed to put up the kind of points lids did, that's why he was so special among other things. But yes please retire #91 soon

The biggest thing I loved about him was how small he was. He didn't look scared to go into the corners with someone.

Maybe Holland saw the Babcock departure coming a couple years back and decided to take a longer view to player acquisition to get past the first round AFTER Babs left (coupled with TO missing the playoffs again would be quite irksome to the Leafs loyal). Babs is a good coach, and seems to be a good guy, but his message ran its course here and I think having Blashill will energize the team more than we realize. Cue Kenny lighting up a cigar, Hannibal Smith style, "I love it when a plan comes together".

Awesome!!!! My childhood hero and all time favourite player. I don't think they would mention it unless it was going to happen.

Looks like the lineup gonna look something like this .... Zetterberg datsyuk abdelkader Tatar richards nyquist Pulkkinen sheahan Franzen Helm glendening miller Extras Jurco Ferraro Andersson Callahan Kronwall Ericsson Dekeyser green Quincey Smith/marchenko/ouellet/kindl I'd personally rather replace Franzen with jurco

To be fair, nobody on this site falls in the "i'm always right" category more then you. Crosby will make Kessel better. That's what great players do. Hockey 101.

Smith's shot isn't really all that great. His one timer almost never hits the net. He might be a little more effective if he's allowed to skate in a bit, but if you're thinking his shot is an improvement over Dekeyser's you're probably going to be disappointed.

Then choose Ryan Ellis, then choose Vatenen etc. the point doesn't change. Height =/ everything. I am not even including forwards either. Your wording from the beginning would have not even started the "ridiculous" debate. You should have just said "not who I would have picked" instead of going on about his size. Which is where myself and another poster started saying it has nothing to do with it.

Neither. I love and respect Ozzie. I respect Fedorov. Neither quite fits the mold to have their number hang.

I hope Nyqwist can be as good as Federov and Lindstrom were.

Lindstrom, Yserman and Federov. I miss them all.

Neither. And neither was spelled correctly. Retire Red Kelly's number first.

Unlikely it'll be either. But if it's going to be one of those two it should be Fedorov. Osgood was a big part of the team but is not the caliber of player that the Wings retire jerseys for.
