Powerplay goals scored percentage in career thus far for some notable players: Steve Yzerman - 29% PP goals out of all goals scored. Joe Sakic - 32.8% PP goals out of all goals scored. Henrik Zetterberg - 33.8% PP goals out of all goals scored. Gustav Nyquist - 32% PP goals out of all goals scored. Steven Stamkos - 34% PP goals out of all goals scored. Alexander Ovetchkin - 37% PP goals out of all goals scored. We should have been more worried about Zetterberg than Nyquist and his "he can only score on the power play" idea. Or how about not Because to me it seems like Nyquist right around the average among the names mentioned. Additionally he only has a few seasons under his belt so it's too early to judge either way. But as of now his overall numbers are pretty standard.

What is the point of the league not maximizing the amount of eyeballs that can watch the game? I can certainly understand this game not being televised nationally, but why not at least in the two markets involved?

I was/am thinking the same thing, but if Helm's out it could change the situation. If Blashill thinks he's outplayed one of Jurco or Pulkkinen, we could see something like: Abdelkader-Zetterberg-Nyquist Jurco/Pulks-Richards-Tatar Sheahan/Pulks-Larkin-Franzen Miller-Glendening-Ferraro Andersson, Jurco/Pulkkinen I'm sure it seems unlikely, but the way they're treating Larkin seems different. For the record, I'd rather he start in Grand Rapids and do the whole "big fish in a small pond" thing at first. Really, the way he's jumped from level to level in the last year worries me a little. He's played six games in the AHL. I almost think it would be worse for him to make the roster, then deal with being sent down. If he's sent down, it's more of a, "well this is the way things work in Detroit."

Guess what. There was a season 2005/06 i believe where Henrik Zetterberg scored nearly haf his goals (maybe 18 or so) on the PP. Boy Zetterberg sure turned out okay to me. Point is. People are jumping on this "oh Nyquist can only score on the PP" bandwagon without any legitamate argument really. They have what? One season to go off of? Come on give me a break.. He has had two real seasons and one of them he happened to score mostly on PP. That's all I gather from this. There's plenty of players who have had seasons where they scored heavily on the powerplay rather than full strength Zetterberg OVetchkin - He is THE power play legend. yzerman ... For the record I'm not making a point that he's a better goal scorer than Tatar. I'm just making a point that we really don't have jack s*** to go off of. Too early to judge. Besides I'm one of the few who thinks that PP superstars are a good thing. For some reason people think being good on PP makes you inferior. Ha. I'll take 14 goals from Nyquist on the PP if that means we get to score on opponents.

Abdelkader - Larkin - Nyquist Franzen - Sheahan - Glendening Jurco - Nosek - Ferraro Bertuzzi - Athanasiou - Mantha DeKeyser - Smith Russo - Jensen Ouellet - Sproul Mrazek Coreau * If someone wants to update with graphics, please do. * As far as I know, Ken Kal will have an audio stream again. Anyone know if the Pens will be streaming a video feed anywhere? I haven't seen anything yet... I like this lineup a lot, but I do wish Blashill would get over this experiment with Glendening in the top 6. I'd much rather see Jurco up there. The only other thing I would change is switching Smith and Jensen...

Did you really suggest a cab in a Patrick Kane thread?

The forward lines are kinda sexy tonight though, like they're one of the many possibilities of what our team could possibly look like in the future. With some obvious shuffling, that is. (Glendenning fourth line c, sheahan centering 2nd/3rd line, aa Bert mantha line 2/3, Franzen replaced with pulks)

Agree with both of your proposed changes. If Blash is really taking a look at Jurco, let him play with offensive linemates. Run a third line of Nosek-Glendening-Ferraro. Swapping Smith for Jensen - more than anything - is because it drives me nuts to see the team able to pull off a lefty-righty combo for each pair, but not do it.

Bertuzzi - Athanasiou - Mantha ... B-A-M!! Would like to see if this line could do anything against one of the penguins real lines.

Not sure how you can say Ovechkin is the goal scoring god and no one is even close. You'd have to at least admit that Stamkos is close. If you take the past 6 seasons, both have missed sometime, but Ovechkin has scored 256 goals and Stamkos has scored 253 goals. Stamkos has a better gpg stat over that period....if that's not AT LEAST close, not sure what would be as some would argue that Stamkos is the better goal scorer using those stats. Perhaps it's because Ovechkin had 53 last year to Stamkos' 43 and the year before, Ovechkin had 51 to Stamkos' 25, but Stamkos only played 37 games, so that's a 55 goal pace over 82 games.

Tatar I think that Kindl will have a nice season (and I don't like him). Quincey could finished as 7th def.

Not sure what Nyquist will do with himself when Z ends up being put on a line with Pav For the record i like that fact that Nyquist is excellent on power play. Most high end goal scorers tend to be.

This is my line of thought, too. Only, I think Nyqust will lead in PPG and PPP.
