To some our whole team minus the euro twins and Larkin are 5th and 6th d-men, or 3rd/4th line forwards. I can remember as recently as June, some were saying Zetterberg was washed up.

The issue with Howard is always the same. It's not that he's just hot garbage every game. It's that he's basically GUARANTEED to give up one or two bad goals per game. He can stop 39 of 40 shots and play out of his mind, but he WILL give up one or two bad ones. So the Wings essentially start off playing from behind when the game starts. Not to mention he's very weak mentally when it comes to game psychology.

The Wings did play a game yesterday. So I'd cut some slack on the poor performance overall. To be honest - yesterday was mainly a blame towards Mrazek. I'd say today the blame is put on the entire team and Howard as well. I think people lose sight of whats real and blame the guy they don't like. Hell, I do it too. But seriously though.. objectively speaking, yesterday Mrazek was at fault (and that's okay sometimes), today the entire team is (and that's okay too after playing a hard game yesterday). And no I don't think Howard has any excuse and yes I think he should be packaged off over the summer.

These are my personal favourite Canuck uniforms. Love how the thicker stripes 'pop' on the black uniform, compared to the next black iteration in the 90's. Also, for some reason I just love the yellow one.

Well, Howard would have gotten the win if they'd scored 6 goals... like they did for Mrazek with the rotten egg he laid yesterday.

I want to see Mantha play a couple games actually. Hopefully we're in a comfortable position sooner or later and Blash recalls him to test him out.

I guess ideally Quincey would be a really good number 5 on a deep team, and he would definitely play as such if he were to be traded to a contender. Although I do think he is a very capable top 4 on most teams. I'm not one that thinks we HAVE to get rid of Ericsson or Quincey either, but I wouldn't hate moving on from both if we could somehow land a top pairing defenseman. My ideal defense pairings for next season would be something like this... DeKeyser - Player Acquired in Trade (Trouba...) Kronwall - Marchenko Smith - Green Jensen / Sproul Quincey - traded before the deadline for a 2nd round pick... Ericsson - traded for a similar type forward contract... Kindl - traded for a mid round pick, retaining half the cap hit on the remaining year of his contract... Ouellet - traded in part of the package to land that top pair defenseman... Jensen / Sproul - waive whichever one doesn't fill the #7 slot and hope he clears... I know that would be a pretty significant turnover and has no chance of actually happening, but that is what I'd like to see...

With the exception of maybe a select few, all people are saying is that someone will likely give him a shot. There is a big difference between saying "this guy will be a great NHL D-man" and "This guy will likely be given a shot to be an NHL d-man".

Agreed. It is really a novelty at this point and really? ANOTHER outdoor game for the Wings and Leafs? This has everything to do with Toronto wanting some kind of NHL event for their anniversary. They should be hosting the draft seeing how they most likely will be picking very high again. Might be the only bright spot for their 100th anniversary.

Is XO ready to step up? Is Marchenko good enough to stay? Smith has been top 2nd-3rd Def. What this team needs: Top 2/4 RHD. So for the next season we have already: Kronwall - Deke Smith - Green Errorson - Marchenko XO How we keep Q. For me, thanks but no thanks to Q.

Yeah, Gustavsson could be a starter if he could play more than three games without a three week injury happening. That's barely an exaggeration.

Unless others are moved they need to let him walk.

1-2 year extension if possible. Otherwise walk. Quincey is way too important to this team now. So if we're letting him walk - there better be someone who can fill his role well with DK. They have been our best pair in terms of chemistry for almost 2 years now.. And they're playing top line... That's kind of a big deal..

Talk about a letdown. At least play it at Rogers, the capacity would be up.

Howard is no insurance, period. Get rid of him ASAP, bring Coreau up. I've said it before and still believe that Coreau can come up and do just as well (or not well) as Jimmy and all at 5X lessor the money. Clear that cap now! Trade him for future's just to get some relief.

Glad people are seeing that now. I'm tired of hearing "Howard deserves another chance" "He'll be better tonight i just know it", "We need Howard in case Mrazek falters". "Howard is a great goaltender". No. He is not needed, he will not turn it around, if Mrazek s***s the bed Howard isn't going to do any better. He's the Wings version of the Flyers' Bryzgalov contract. Trade him to the goalie graveyard in Philly for Mason. Yeah Mrazek never bails out the team at all. They should never have done that for him.

My first choice is to let him walk. But, if the "kids" aren't in the plans and we stike out on upgrading, go ahead a re-sign him at a lessor contract for a year.

I wouldn't mind a resign at the right price depending on what happens with the kids.

Yes please sign him. It sucks we could lose him over E just because of that contract.

I actually have the day off due to now snow days yet at my school (first time in my 21 years of teaching). Howard stood tall in the first, hopefully he builds on it.

He was quoted as saying he felt like hanging himself, so yeah. Not the best look.

I laugh when NFL to Toronto rumors start up every few years. Toronto doesn't have a proper venue for the NFL, they'd have to spend $1.5 Billion to build a new 80,000 seat Stadium. I guess Toronto should have an outdoor game though. 40,000 corporate fans will buy tickets for $2,000 each.
