People seem to be wondering about the severity of the blood clot and whether it could return. Stamkos's clot is not like other blood clot stories you've heard before. Timonen, Fleischman and Dupuis all were genetically predisposed to have blot clots. Stamkos is not. His was most likely caused by trauma which would mean that after treating this, he should be no more likely to get a clot than anyone else. You can hear Bob McKenzie talk about it here. It's actually quite interesting.

Sproul needs to at least get a shot out of training camp. I don't care so much if they lose Jensen, but it would be a tough pill to swallow if Sproul never gets a real opportunity on a team that has gotten nothing offensively from their d-men for years.

Missing with any would be less than ideal for sure but it's not make it or break it.. There are a lot of other factors (free agent signings, trades, mrazeks development to name a few) and even if 2 of the 3 became stars, I think we'll be ok.

Zero chance we land Stamkos and Okposo... I think there's going to be a lot of disappointed people here after free agency. Get the pitch forks ready and prepare your Holland sucks barrage now...

I think that's overdramatic. If Mantha or Svech don't reach their potential we could have other guys exceed expectations (maybe Bertuzzi). Or Stamkos, Okoposo or someone else comes in and is a big part of the team. Also, Nyquist has 2 25+ goal seasons, Tatar has 1 - this could have been a down year. I think it was due to Blashill's dealing with them on the 3rd line.

Arguably? I don't think it's arguable. He finished top 5 in scoring again despite having a terrible start to the year. Kane is just now joining the party. Crosby has been in the Hart trophy and Art Ross discussion for years. Doing it year after year is what makes someone the best.

After his performance this season and in the playoffs, he'll have a chance. Depending on what happens at the draft and FA, I would be shocked if Sproul isn't the #7 out of camp.

Who are all "these guys" that are going to inflate the cap to 95 mil in a year? I think you guys are overreacting a bit. This isn't the norm. This is an exceptional player and case.

Hopefully Mantha has a big off season of training and comes out in training camp forcing them to put him on the wings roster next year. Based on reports and box scores and seeming him play twice (once toward the beginning of the season and once at the end hah), He definitely seemed to be improving as the year went on?

I wouldn't rather have Radulov or Okposo over Stamkos, however I'm not sure how I would feel about paying him $10.5M until 2024. What are we going to pay Larkin, Mantha and company in a few years if he's making that kind of money? If we're spending that kind of cap on a player, I'd prefer it be spent on a defenseman. In saying that, if we landed Stamkos, I wouldn't be too upset...

Lol. True.Stamkos when at his best, has been regardes as the 2nd or 3rd best player. I guess you really shouldn't pass on that. But I do think our chance of signing Radulov+Okposo is higher than getting Stamkos.

Meh. Pavs should go enjoy his retirement and the Wings should transition into a new era. This will hasten it. I'm not too broken up about it.

Be careful Rich, people may take that as you "over-hyping" Mantha... F*** it! Mantha has impressed big time in these playoffs. He has been one of the most dangerous players on the ice in both series'. I've also been very impressed with Bertuzzi and his knack for scoring clutch goals. I still stand by Sproul being one of our better defesnemen down there along with Russo. Ouellet hasn't stood out at all, and unfortunately aside from the game winner last night, Athanasiou has been lackluster at best...

One thing that I think is super important for both Houda, and whoever we sign to coach the offense, is a knowledge and embrace of how modern analytics can/should inform coaching. I don't know where any of the candidates stand on the topic though.

I'd take a chance on Sean Day. His stock has dropped a lot since he was declared "exceptional" by the OHL at 15 but I think he's worth the risk.

You best hope Mantha lives up to the standards and hype you're creating around here. Come next year if he doesn't perform you already know fans will be all over criticizing him. And then ya'll get all worked up "Why is everyone criticizing him??? Hes just a rookie..." The hype train is what screwed Smith, Jurco and Pulkinen over in fans eyes and might even screw Mantha over at this rate.
