Isn't at least a start? *shrug*

    Drew Miller on Waivers

As much I like Miller, but this is a good sign. It means they let Mantha and AA stay in the lineup. And it is huge because it may mark the end of the "tie goes to the veteran" - era.

Coreau is rock solid this season and one of our more positive surprises. In fact he did make a strong case for being the starter over Mrazek. While you can blame Blashill for many mistakes this isn't one. Stay save !

Oh no! My local NBC station is cutting out for weather alerts. How can my physical safety POSSIBLY be more important than keeping up with the Wings?

Lets see. Um. Selected to 2014-15 All-star game Selected for 2014 Olympics in Sochi Had a consistent year this season in 2016/17 and led the league in GAA and SV% and maintained top 3 in those categories until injury. So.. that's two posts where you've spoken gibbrish about Howard. Can we stop now? Lol.

What would you do if you were GM

    Ain't that the truth Apollo

I agree, but there are also plenty of us that lie somewhere in between. Mrazek has had a rough stretch, no question, but it would be foolish to give up on him at this point in his career.

Miller on waivers, Marchenko a healthy scratch.... Kenny and Blash have been reading LGW clearly! Great decisions. Now if E could spend a night in the press box...

Cannot stress enough how much better the 4th line looks and the team in general. Helm for Miller = huge upgrade Kronwall for Marchenko = huge upgrade If only we could swap Jurco in for Sheahan and Sproul in for Ericsson...

Coreau! Nice counter attack to boot! (I've resorted to stream the game during the weather alert, tornado-like activity in the area if you're interested)

That is huge! No way he should be in the lineup with the now 12 healthy. Smart move Kenny this means AA and Mantha are here to stay!

    The Powerplay

Whenever I watch other teams it seems like they never stop moving their feet. The Wings are constantly standing will, and when they do move it's a very telegraphed shift.

I like Z. He is in a class himself. No need to ask me where I've been since 1979, let alone 14 years. I'd take 5 Z's over either gus or E.

    The Powerplay

You're really making it seem a LOT more difficult / confusing than it really is. Again, even when there are two units with the exact same system, injuries happen. Does that mean, when the next man up comes in, they're completely out of place and have no idea what is going on? Hell no. You know why? Because they practiced for a day or two in that system and they now know it. That's what off day / game day practices are for... And no, hockey players in general are not idiots, far from it. Especially when talking about hockey sense, knowledge of the game they've played their entire lives and payed millions of dollars a year to play... Do you really think, in my scenario, if we had to for whatever reason, take Mantha off the first unit and put him on the second in Larkin's spot or even Athanasiou's spot, that he would forget how to play hockey? Probably not. He's told to play right point or net front instead, and he practices in that position for one day, everything is fine. Do you think everyone else on that second unit is going to be confused? S*** what happened to AA, where did Mantha come from... *gives puck away*... So what happens mid game when a player from one of the units gets injured? Do we go with one unit for the rest of the game because the other unit is all of a sudden useless? No, we insert someone else, and they don't miss a beat. In the end, whether it's even strength, power-play, penalty kill, they're just playing the game. There is always movement all over the ice, rotating coverage in the defensive zone, cycling in the offensive zone, so they're never set at one position, or at least they shouldn't be. As for the "Nobody has EVER done it, in the 100 years of the NHL" part, I'd love to know where you came up with that... Is this fact, or are you just stating it as fact. Somehow I find it very difficult to believe that as fact...

It's getting hot in here when Mom gets snippy! I think its more our D than Mrazek. He made some great saves yesterday, I don't think there is too much he could've done about any of the goals. Watching them again, I'm pretty sure they are all goals that even the best goaler's give up at times. 1st goal Dekeyser shot it in the net...2nd goal Dekeyser was out-muscled and then it was a perfect placement where 99% of the time no goalie stops it above his catching hand over the shoulder, the 3rd goal we all know Ericsson was playing wiffle ball instead of knocking Okposo tot he ice or hell, at least chopping his stick in half, what are they going to do call you for a another penalty? Whooie Doo! You can't go down more than 4 on 3 and by time the first PK was over, the OT would have been over. Last night's game was all on our D. There wasn't one goal that Mrazek flubbed.

https://www.nhl.com/gamecenter/det-vs-buf/2017/01/20/2016020686#game=2016020686,game_state=final Highlights....if you want to know why we lost, watch the GWG, Ericsson is such a horrible hockey player. What the hell is he trying to do, sweep the ice away?

    Game Day Threads moving forward

Hey there everyone - I've been absent lately due to my schoolwork as well as my work on Detroit Sports Nation. Just so everyone knows, I'm still around and will be moving forward, but I'd really like to thank NerveDamage and MabusIncarnate for their work on our GDT's this year. You guys are the real MVP's. I'll still be around to make a GDT every now and again, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that we all truly appreciate the work they've put in to make LGW the great site it is. Thanks again and LetsGoWings!! Mike (aka Hockeytown0001)
