When former Redwing, Darryl Bootland takes to the ice tonight. He will have appeared in his 900th game as a professional hockey player. This is an accomplishment very few players have achieved! Bootland currently plays for the Orlando Solar Bears in the ECHL, facing the Cincinnati Cyclones tonight. Darryl bounced back and forth between the Redwings and Grand Rapid Griffins from 2003 -2007 before being traded to the Islanders in 2007. Last season Bootland wore an A with the Colorado Eagles and won the Kelly Cup. Bootland came in with a real bang racking up 16 PIM in his first game in the NHL, with the Redwings including 2 fights, both for 5 minute majors. The following two years in Grand Rapid he racked up 726 PIM between the two seasons while still scoring 41 goals.

I had no idea Bootland was still playing! Loved that guy back in the day.

He also said that with Larkin and Mantha they're a couple years into it. I disagree that it necessarily takes that long every time though. At least not if the GM is worth a damn. If by some miracle they get Doughty, Karlsson, or another elite D and Mantha and L:arkin develop into a potent 1-2 punch at forward, all the Wings will need is a decent supporting cast. They have part of that now. The issue will be if they have the cap room with the albatross contracts Holland handed out like candy on Halloween.

Last night is proof of what this team is capable of if they want to. The problem is getting them to do it consistently.

I don't get it with a lot of you guys on here. I post something humorous on here to lighten the mood of a lot of posters who are down in the dumps over the recent Wings performance and I get slated for wasting posters time who want to engage in actual conversation? Give me a break, only a complete moron would have taken it seriously in the first place and I assume there's none on this site anyway considering all the intellectual remarks made on most other threads by posters. It was posted to try and lighten the atmosphere as our team struggled to gain a win, but obviously not met in the manner it was intended. Re: NHL.tv, Honestly, the NHL should be hit with a class action lawsuit or something. You're charging for a service that may or may not work on any given night, when people are paying with the expectation that it's going to work every night. That's bulls***.

No, a mediocre 4th liner for a pick. By your logic getting McIlrath as a throw in was one of the best moves in the history of the NHL because he was a 10th overall pick.
