Agreed. I am not so sure they win the cup that year if that day turned out differently. I also think Vladdy was the catalyst for the 98 cup win. The team seemed to underchieve the following 3 seasons without the extra motivation until they loaded up with a HOF roster in 02 that couldnt lose. How do they feel about Todd Bertuzzi? 80% is probably a bit much to ask....not sure about most consistent scorers, Crosby is up there I would think in that category, but I simply checked Kucherov for this year, for obvious reasons....he's only scored in 75% of his games played....not to say "only", I think 75% is probably pretty good....just pointing out 80% is an aggressive target.

Yeah, saying that Zadina will be as good as Kucherov is obviously a little tongue in cheek, but I do think he could be a 35+ goal, 70+ point player in his prime. So in other words... Bust.

I mainly hope we don't get screwed in the lottery and lose position, from where ever we finish. The more I hear about Kaapo Kakko the more I as well hope we land the 2nd overall pick. If we get lucky with the 1st overall, I am good with Hughes obviously, but I would be fairly happy with Kakko as well. I honestly don't know which is better. Outside of them two if we don't land the 1st or 2nd pick, I like what I hear about Podkolzin. I don't know if it was in this thread, but I know someone around here said they think the Wings should start drafting at least 1 goalie every year. I hope they do as well, I don't really care who. Just start stock stockpiling and hope for one to turn out. Spend a 3rd or 4th rounder on the best goalie available for the next 3 seasons and pry I say.

Great news for Ken Holland and the Detroit Red Wings as a whole...

Losing to a superior team is fine. But if this team is going to lose, I don't want it to be because they didnt try, that they've accepted being a loser. I want guys on this team to come out every night expecting to win, even if they don't. Playing that way is going to get you wins now and then against better teams that you dont expect. You cant win later with kids who dont want to win now.

I mean, if you're not following the GDTs here and you're not reading any blogs and you're not following the Wings on any social media platforms and you're basically not communicating with any Wings fans on any level and you didn't see any of Zadina's NHL stint, I can maybe understand how the idea that Zadina had a pretty good nine games might strike you as crazy. Blashill has no problem with mentioning things a young prospect has to work on. He has no problem saying a prospect needs to work on his defensive game. That being said, Blashill's messaging about Zadina has been consistent and consistently positive: "His defensive game isn't a concern, his all-around game is pretty good, we just want him to work on being extremely dangerous offensively. And that's just a matter of him getting used to pro hockey." He says some variation on this every time he talks about Zadina. Every single time. I don't believe for one second that he's simply being kind to Zadina in public "because 6th overall." I've seen him with the Mooseheads. I've seen him with the Griffins. I watched every game of his nine-game stint with the Wings. I'm pretty familiar with this player. You seem to be basing everything on just his time with the Mooseheads. And you seem to be the one who's hung up on "his draft position and little else." I mean, that's why you keep calling him a bust, right? Because we drafted him 6th overall and you don't think he was worth the 6th overall pick. Right? No, I play it off like you have a half-baked impression of him based on some QMJHL viewings and you're going to cling to that impression no matter what, because you're that committed to your craft. That craft being trolling.
