I've been a Holland supporter for the most part, so it's unfortunate to see him go. However, I'm excited to see what he can do in Edmonton. He'll have that franchise center to build around, but he'll have a lot of work to do to clean up the mess left by Chiarelli.

Did you read something about the Wings being upset by this move? I'd be surprised if they didn't expect this in the first place. I would just as assume he was given a position out of professional courtesy/loyalty for all his years here on the chance he doesn't find a good GM fit somewhere, but with the knowledge that he would be fielding offers. I'm just upset we're losing him honestly, I would've loved to have Yzerman and Holland both.

Jim Rutherford enjoyed a pretty great second act in Pittsburgh. Here's hoping for the same for Holland!

Bruh, Holland got run out of town by malcontent fans. And more or less laterally replaced by Yzerman who might be 5 - 10% better. If I were Holland I'd be like "eff you you fickle ingrates, I am ******* out of here!!" No one on LGWs gets to talk s*** about him leaving so he can continue to be a GM. I'm happy for him and wish him the best of luck.

It will be really ******* weird to see Holland with another NHL team. And a little sad

I pretty much agree with everything you're saying. Everything being equal, I'm sure most GM's would prefer to trade outside their division. I just got the impression from your previous comment that you were saying it never happens or such a trade would never happen. The bold is where I disagree though. If we can trade for a year of Ryan Callahan or a year of Patrick Marleau, I'd rather do that than spend our cap space on a mid level player in free agency. I'd take the asset whether it's a 3rd / mid level prospect (likely wouldn't be that low) or a 1st / high end prospect (probably wouldn't be that high)...

Holland set to become GM of Oilers

The Oilers will trade McDavid to the Red Wings for Abdelkader and Ericsson. The fix is in baby!.

Holland set to become GM of Oilers

Great news. Yzerman will be unencumbered and solely in charge as GM.

From one cap hell to a worse one? Kidding (mostly). But good luck to him. I've been somewhat of an Oilers fan for a little while and it's been frustrating to watch them unable to pull a consistently good team together with the top end talent they have. Hope he's the one to do it.

CAR vs NYI - Round 2

Umm....Mrazek had a pretty darn good regular season. If he didn't play as well as he did (there is no question he was well above league average)....they don't make the playoffs. Them finishing 7th and squeeking into the playoffs is not a knock on Mrazek, it is a positive....they don't make the playoffs without his strong play. Not sure what the future holds, but in comparison to Howard, his season was certainly better than Howards and moving forward, not sure, but odds are in Mrazek's favour.....simply due to age.

Poll: Datsyuk on the team at 41?

By "Bobfather", do you mean Bob McKenzie? If so, this is what he reported: May 1 - "It seems there is a whole new round of, could Pavel Datsyuk return to the NHL next season, in Detroit? Short answer is it's probably quite unlikely but since Datsyuk will actually be in Detroit tomorrow, worth mentioning" May 1 - "Datsyuk is visiting his agent Dan Milstein in DET. They will talk about Datsyuk's plans to finish his career and where that will happen. Datsyuk recently announced he's leaving SKA in KHL, but the belief is he plans on finishing up with hometown Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg." May 1 - "There's apparently been no dialogue between Milstein and the Wings on Datsyuk and certainly nothing since Steve Yzerman took over as GM. In any case, Milstein and Datsyuk will get together and figure out Pav's next step. It's probably Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg." Maybe you meant someone else's reporting? Looks like Bob McKenzie was spot on.

Johnsson has also reportedly turned down a $2 mill and $2.6 mill bridge contract. He'll get at least $3 mill, as will Kapanen. They essentially have $9 mill in cap space headed into the summer with 4 or 5 roster spots to fill and these players to re-sign: Marner - $10 mill Johnsson - $3 mill Kapanen - $3 mill Gardiner - $5 mill Hainsey - $1 mill Ozhiganov - $1 mill Screwed doesn't begin to describe it. They're losing good players no matter what.

And Tavares and Nylander honestly. Marleau is undneeded and puts them in cap hell, but Tavares just made the standard for all their young players $11 million dollars. Just look at Nylander, he made over $10 million this year after his temper tantrum and missing half the season lol. Yzerman would have Drouin'd that brat. Marner wants his $11.5 million and I don't blame him. Dubas is permanently wearing the shocked pikachu face right now. Hopefully those classy Tronna fans don't start to turn on him...

Umm, where are the options for "No" and "Hell No"?... LOL I just said basically the exact same thing in another thread... I don't really want him back at this point, but I'd take him over Nielsen for sure...
